willing learners and learn by example
from their parents and caregivers.
Growing their own food is also
something that children love, if you
have a garden or access to a council/
private allotment encourage them to
work with you and choose and plant
their own vegetables and flowers. If
you don’t have a garden, many
vegetables can be grown in plant
pots, wooden boxes, buckets or
window boxes. A very good site for
simple instructions on growing
vegetables on your windownsill is
Visiting local parks, forests, beaches
can also help children appreciate
their local environment. Taking a
book on native wildlife and plants (the
local library may have some) will help
them identify the animals and plants
that live and grow in their local area.
It can be a fun game.
The children of today can help
preserve and protect their
environment for them, their families
and for generations to come.
