Welcome to Fonseca's Magazine the magazine that
describes some important places in the city of the
Union where you can read about the activities,
location, its tourism development among other things.
Take advantage of this time to know and enjoy each
one of the articles here that will be presented, and the
reason for our magazine is the presentation of the
places that we choose as editors and to strengthen the
tourism of the area through this presentation, at the
same time we want to give the thanks for it that you
look at our tourist magazine. Now that your help is

The spring Los Coquitos located in the neighborhood of San Carlos
de la Union city is one of the most important places made with the
purpose of strengthening the tourism in both the East and
throughout the country, and at the same time for the economic and
social development of residents, This project benefits the production
and extension of the aquaculture seafood since that would help the
artisanal fishermen and will enable it to be one of the areas with the
highest tourist visits and production of seafood.
This project has produced a different perspective on the use of the
local tourism resources in that it benefits all those merchants to offer
their products.

In addition to being a tourist attraction for every person who visits the area is a place of
marketing that already in this place are very important activities such as the sale of seafood
dishes and other types of meals related to fishing these events are given in 2 occasions for
month mostly on weekends.
Apart from being a place of marketing also the gulf located at the front of this place served
as track for boat races and this is one of the activities that attracts a lot to the tourist for the
holidays that is to say, in the month of August since it is in these dates when festivals are
held by the Chamber of Commerce The Union close to this are the mechanical games,
shooting games with a weapon, restaurants of international foods, among others. In
addition, it is a place very recognized to have its side the boats that lead to the islands in the
Gulf of Fonseca is where passengers begin their journey toward the island either with
reason or tourist trade.

Conchagua Volcano.

Conchagua Volcano is located in the department of La
Union, in the municipality of Conchagua. One of the most
beautiful views of El Salvador's coast, from which you can
appreciate the islands in the Gulf of Fonseca (Meanguera,
Meanguerita, Amapala, among others) as well as the city
of La Union, and various beaches.
The access to the top of the volcano is performed through
streets of interpleader improved; this path can be taken
either from the city of La Union, or from the city of
Conchagua. Must be driven until you reach the point
known as "El Faro" where there is a gate that protects
access to the top of the volcano

There is a trail that after touring through the top reaches up to the
observation tower farthest. Here is the most beautiful view of the Gulf of
Fonseca and its islands. You'll soon see the antennas which this is a
restricted area.
In the volcano Conchagua we can appreciate the panoramic view from
its two lookouts the main, and the second vantage point which can be
reached via the path called "flying tiger" . You can also enjoy its climate
that is very cool. The place is very quiet and clean, suitable to go for
walks with the family.

Playitas Beach.

The department of the Union coastal shelters a wealth where tourists will
find unparalleled backwaters rest. As part of the sun and beach path in the
middle of the El Salvador discover the paradise beach Playitas. This beach
is located at 6km from the city on the eastern tip of the country.
Access is by dirt road which is in an acceptable condition for being able to
travel on any type of vehicle, at a moderate speed, to locate a street to
Playitas, we must find the heavy hoofs near new port of Cutuco. Before
arriving in Las Playitas we can appreciate a beautiful view from the
beginning of the descent to the beach, where now the predominant image it
forms the islands of Meanguera and Conchaguita respectively.
The beach of Las Playitas is small near 800 mts in length along its shores is
of sand and small stones, has a swell little and allows you to take a bath in its
water both at low tide as high.

This area consists mainly of fishermen, although there are those who devote themselves to other
items of trade with the city.
The visitor is received with a suitable area of parking lot, which is paved, there are public baths -
i.e. almost to the weather- in order to eliminate excess salt and sand after the bath in the sea. The
food supply is abundant, there are from traditional foods., chicken, meat, until the expected
seafood, shrimp, lobsters, crabs pullers, sea food, fish in their varieties and drinks. All in a
friendly atmosphere and very Salvadoran, with hammocks, beach music and everything.
There are two places, the seafood of DOÑA REYNITA so called for its owner, and the
Dolphin restaurant which offers a wide area and very comfortable and special area with air
conditioning. Playitas is visited by many people during the weekends and on holidays; in the
surrounding area there is a private pool that can be enjoyed by $0.50 (fifty cents) per person,
the water that comes from a birth near we await you with adjustable open to offer the beauty of
our beach.

Conchagua City.

This historic city, founded in 1543, has strong Lenca roots; making this
town rich in folklore traditions, in addition to having some important
colonial remains. The name means “narrow valley”. At Conchagua
there are several customs and buildings left from the Spanish colonial
era. The best example is the temple located in front of the central park.
This is one of the oldest churches in El Salvador, built in 1693 in honor
of Santiago Apostle. It is the creation of Wenceslao Ramirez and
Antonio Garcia, who used Baroque elements on the facade and
Renaissance style in the interior.
This architectural gem was built using a mix of materials including
adobe blocks, stones and a masonry mix known as “Cali canto.” Fine
woods as cedar, mahogany, hujuste and tempisque where used on this
temple as well.

The central nave has seven columns on each side, each one carved out of a single tree trunk.
These columns give support to the main frame of the roof.
This church houses over 15 original religious images brought by the Spanish 300 years ago.
They are located in the old wooden altarpieces that flank the nave. Another colonial
element is the church bell that can be seen from the central park displayed at one of the bell
tower. It´s weights approximately 22 pounds. The town festivities are held every July 25th
and there are ceremonies dedicated to Martyr St. Stephen on January 20 th
On one side of central park there is a “pupusódromo”, with more than 10 pupuserías that
offer pupusas and some other local dishes. They sell natural juices and other drinks such as
cashew atol, all at low prices. It’s open from 9:00 am until 10:00 p.m. every day.

Snt. Carlos Borromeo Church

The San Carlos Borromeo church located in the central area of the
department of the Union is one of the major works on this site and
one of the places visited by tourists, is of catholic origin facade with a
very genuine and with a bit of history is as well as this is identified, it is
in this same place where the celebrations in honor of the Immaculate
Conception of Mary during the month of December because it is the
patron saint of the town.
This church was erected on 4 February 1854, and in spite of having
more than 100 years is located in an excellent state consists with a
chapel, a meeting room, administration offices, 2 bells, among others

The church in its interior displays an old facade but with a lot of historical value even
though that is being remodeled in some areas to improve your inner image, in this place
was give celebrations the days Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
unless otherwise stated on Sunday that there are 3 celebrations.
In addition to all this is composed with religious groups for young people aged from 16
years onwards which meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays to discuss religious
issues and social issues affecting young people which help them to gain a better perspective
on your life, Apart from this consists with a group that supports the marriages that occur
in this parish as is Marriage Encounters apart from being benefit groups in these young
marriages and support in a general way to the parish in the events that this church has.

Municipal Park, La Unión

The Municipal Park of La Unión is the center of this small city
and is located in front of the Church of Snt. Carlos Borromeo
and close to the municipal market this is a small place which you
can visit in the company of everyone in your family or friends.
Within this park there is a recreational area where the smallest of
the household can enjoy this, in the center of this is the main kiosk
surrounded by many benches and trees to enjoy a good
environment.

Apart from being a very old place has now become something modern that
already have been remodelled some areas of this so as to provide greater comfort
to those who visit especially on Sundays because it is a little village, due to which
concerts are given by bands of peace and some groups of the place, apart from
this there are gastronomic festivals where we can find the most typical of the
place until modern meals.
This is one of the most visited places for the days of the fair since it is on one side
of this where the coronation of the respective queens of each neighborhood and
the of the patron saint festivities of this city.
