TWIT TWOO, RUTH AND HAYLEY ARE BRINGING NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH TO YOU! Magor, Undy and Llandevenny Community Support Officers Ruth James and Hayley Brown are flushed with success after recruiting the 20,000th household to the Gwent Police OWL Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. Ruth and Hayley have now set themselves a target of persuading half of all households in the area - around 1,000 - of the value of the scheme. Already nearly 300 are signed up. The officers send out crime information and prevention messages via the system, but also give updates on community events. Recently, Ruth invited Olive, one of two OWL mascots owned by the force, to Magor. The life size owl was on hand to help sign up local shopkeeper Simon Barter to the scheme - and then lent a hand to clear snow around the police station in Magor.
