Preface 

DASGIP Parallel Bioreactor Systems are based on a fundamental concept: 

Combining the advantages of easy-to-handle culture vessels with the 

sophisticated control of industrial scale bioreactors. 

DASGIP technology is designed to suit the needs of industrial and 

academic scientists in cell culture and microbial fermentation, and to 

maximize their results by:

n enhancing cell growth and protein production 

n improving process understanding and optimizing yields 

Based on a modular design, different control modules and bioreactor types 

are combined with our intelligent control software to meet each user’s 

specific needs. Each DASGIP control module is a system on its own with 

dedicated functions such as monitoring of pH and dissolved oxygen (DO), 

temperature and agitation control, feeding, gassing, optical density 

measurement and off-gas analysis.

DASGIP Parallel Bioreactor Systems are designed for small scale cultivation 

in four, eight or sixteen vessel configurations. Specialized systems optimized 

for cell culture and microbiological fermentation, including aerobic as well 

as anaerobic applications guarantee high productivity, scalability and 

reproducibility.

Parallel System for Cell Cultivation 

DASGIP Parallel Bioreactor Systems for Cell Culture are designed for small scale cell line and process 

development. Individual systems can be customized with a wide range of components, providing

Off-Gas Analysis 

DASGIP Off-Gas Analyzer GA4 features four parallel analyzer trains for simultaneous operation. Exhaust 

Oxygen (XO 2) and Carbon Dioxide (XCO 2) concentrations of multiple bioreactors are continuously 

monitored and analyzed. An integrated mass flow sensor allows online calculation and monitoring of 

oxygen transfer rate (OTR), carbon dioxide transfer rate (CTR) and respiration quotient (RQ).

Four Channel Mass Flow Controlled Gas Supply (0-1800sL/h) 

The Gassing System MF4 has four separate mass flow controlled channels for selectable gas types, 

including nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, methane and carbon monoxide. Industrial mass flow 

controllers and individual set points for each inlet gas as well as constant flow rates guarantee an 

accurate supply of a wide range of gasses. Flow rates up 1800 sL/h allow users working at pilot scale 

and even larger volumes. 

Four optional pressure sensors allow safe operation of disposable bags and glass vessels.

MX Splitter for Submerse and Headspace Gas Supply 

DASGIP MX Splitter is available as an option to the MX4/4 Gas Mixing Module. For mixed overlay and submerged gassing setups, 

the MX Splitter divides each outlet gas flow into two streams, where each can be send either to a headspace inlet for 

overlay gassing or to a submerged sparger.

Agitation Systems 

DASGIP Agitation Systems are available with magnetically coupled bottom 

drives or direct coupled overhead drives. As a component of DASGIP Parallel 

Bioreactor Systems, they provide many features: 

n Magnetic drives for cell culture (2-500rpm) and microbiology 

n (60-1200rpm) 

n Support of single position magnetic stir plates or the DASGIP 

n Bioblock 

n Support of direct coupled overhead drives (30-1600rpm) 

n Digitally controlled speed with high accuracy (+/-1rpm) 

n Up to eight speed controllers in one module 

n Agitation profiles and trigger automation 

n PID-control of dissolved oxygen by agitation or by a cascade

Agitation Control 

DASGIP Agitation Control Systems SC4 and SC8 allow parallel control of four or eight stirrer plates or 

overhead drives simultaneously. Individual set points for stirring speed and stirring power are 

accessible, as well as different stirring operation modes (e.g. continuous or interval). The low speed 

models SC4C and SC8C feature magnetic stirring plates ranging from 2-150rpm and are designed for 

shear sensitive cell culture applications, e.g. stem cell cultivation. High density cell culture and microbial 

applications are supported by the high speed models SC4F and SC8F featuring magnetic stirring plates 

ranging from 60-1200rpm. Directly coupled overhead drives for applications requiring even higher 

agitation power are operated by the SC4D and SC8D models.
