COMMUNITY COLLEGE<br />
Effective fall semester 2009, students pursuing associate degrees or certificate programs<br />
will be admitted through open admissions, Community College <strong>of</strong> UDC.<br />

NEW GRADUATE PROGRAM IN NUTRITION/DIETETICS<br />
UDC's Department <strong>of</strong> Biological and Environmental Sciences, College <strong>of</strong> Arts and<br />
Sciences, proudly announces a new, innovative and dynamic graduate program in<br />
nutrition/dietetics. This new graduate program is intended for individuals interested<br />
in careers as public policy advocates, community educators, policy analysts,<br />
public policy evaluators and lobbyists, researchers, and managers <strong>of</strong> health service<br />
delivery organizations and systems, managed-care programs and o<strong>the</strong>r populationbased<br />
organizations. The program will provide a strong foundation in science,<br />
research, technology, information systems and <strong>the</strong> scientific knowledge <strong>of</strong> nutrition<br />
with emphasis on public policy and research. The program will train health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />
to serve <strong>the</strong> health and nutritional needs <strong>of</strong> urban and international<br />
populations and to be leaders in effecting needed regulations. Classes are <strong>of</strong>fered in<br />
<strong>the</strong> evenings for both full-time and part-time students. For more information visit<br />

FLAGSHIP UNIVERSITY<br />
Effective fall semester 2009, students pursuing baccalaureate degrees (listed<br />
below) will be eligible for admission to <strong>the</strong> flagship university, if one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following<br />
admission requirements is met:<br />
2.5 GPA and 1200 SAT/16 ACT score or<br />
2.0 GPA and 1400 SAT/19 ACT score<br />
Students who do not meet <strong>the</strong> above requirements may “test in” by achieving<br />
required minimum scores on <strong>the</strong> ACCUPLACER examination subtests: 78<br />
(reading); 86 (English) and 85 (ma<strong>the</strong>matics).<br />
International students whose primary language is one o<strong>the</strong>r than English must also<br />
take <strong>the</strong> Test <strong>of</strong> English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and achieve a minimum<br />
score <strong>of</strong> 550 on <strong>the</strong> written test, 213 on <strong>the</strong> computerized test or 79 on <strong>the</strong><br />
Internet test.<br />
These minimum requirements do not preclude <strong>the</strong> additional requirements<br />
established by <strong>the</strong> respective degree programs.<br />

*The baccalaureate teacher education programs listed above are under review in light <strong>of</strong> rising<br />
national expectations and changing requirements for teacher certification. New and continuing<br />
students interested in teaching but not yet admitted into a baccalaureate (BA, BS) teacher education<br />
program are strongly advised to (1) see an academic advisor; (2) consider majoring in an<br />
academic program in a subject area in which you plan to teach and (3) plan to enroll in a master’s<br />
level program to complete teacher certification requirements.<br />
