SCHEDULE OF CLASSES—SPRING 2010<br />
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS<br />
If you present pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> ei<strong>the</strong>r form <strong>of</strong> residency as described below, you will be<br />
presumed to be a qualifying resident <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Columbia</strong> or Metropolitan<br />
Area ("Metro Area"), which includes <strong>the</strong> following counties: Montgomery,<br />
Prince George’s, Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax.<br />
PRIMARY PROOF OF RESIDENCY<br />
For at least one year prior to your application for preferential tuition, you:<br />
Were domiciled in <strong>the</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Columbia</strong> or Metro Area and ei<strong>the</strong>r paid<br />
D.C./Metro Area income taxes or received public assistance from a<br />
D.C./Metro Area government agency, or were claimed as a dependent on a<br />
tax return filed by a parent or spouse meeting <strong>the</strong>se qualifications.<br />
<strong>District</strong> residents:<br />
<strong>District</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Columbia</strong> Form D-40 or D-40EZ (income tax return)<br />
Documentation from a <strong>District</strong> government agency showing (1) that you<br />
receive public benefits from that agency, (2) dated within <strong>the</strong> past year, and<br />
(3) showing your address within <strong>the</strong> <strong>District</strong>. This may include statements<br />
<strong>of</strong> benefits, assistance checks, receipts or any o<strong>the</strong>r documentation accepted<br />
by <strong>the</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> Recruitment and Admissions.<br />
Virginia residents:<br />
Virginia Form 760 or o<strong>the</strong>r resident individual tax return. This form must<br />
bear an address within one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Metro Area counties.<br />
Documentation from a Virginia state or local government agency showing<br />
(1) that you receive public benefits from that agency, (2) dated within <strong>the</strong><br />
past year, and (3) showing your address within one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Metro Area<br />
counties. This may include statements <strong>of</strong> benefits, assistance checks,<br />
receipts or any o<strong>the</strong>r documentation accepted by <strong>the</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> Recruitment<br />
and Admissions.<br />
Maryland residents:<br />
Maryland Form 502 or o<strong>the</strong>r resident individual tax return. This form<br />
must bear an address within one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Metro Area counties.<br />
Documentation from a Maryland state or local government agency showing<br />
(1) that you receive public benefits from that agency, (2) dated within<br />
<strong>the</strong> past year, and (3) showing your address within one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Metro Area<br />
counties. This may include statements <strong>of</strong> benefits, assistance checks,<br />
receipts, or any o<strong>the</strong>r documentation accepted by <strong>the</strong> Office <strong>of</strong><br />
Recruitment and Admissions.<br />
Graduated from a D.C. or Metro Area public high school and were<br />
classified as a resident.<br />
Contact your public high school or school district to obtain a certification<br />
form indicating that (1) you were classified as a resident <strong>of</strong> D.C. or a Metro<br />
Area county or (2) you were classified as a resident <strong>of</strong> Virginia or Maryland<br />
and showing your address within one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Metro Area counties.<br />
OR—If you (or your spouse, parent or legal guardian) are an active-duty<br />
member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> U.S. Armed Forces, Selective Reserve or National Guard, you<br />
qualify for preferential tuition regardless <strong>of</strong> residency. You may qualify by<br />
presenting pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> your (or your spouse’s, parents’, or legal guardian's)<br />
active-duty status.<br />
SECONDARY PROOF OF RESIDENCY<br />
You can also establish your residency by presenting copies <strong>of</strong> at least TWO <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
following, indicating that you live within <strong>the</strong> D.C./Metro Area:<br />
Lease or mortgage agreements<br />
Driver’s license<br />
Motor vehicle registration<br />
Voter registration<br />
Federal income tax returns<br />
