Welcome to the 2010 line of Diamondback…Whoa, wait a second…2010. 

10 years into the new millennium. By this date, weren’t we supposed to be living in a world full of jet cars and cities in the sky? Or shouldn’t we at least have put together a multi-national 

space mission to Europa? We haven’t seen any of those things happen. In fact, not even close. But what we have seen is a world change dramatically in 10 years. Fast-paced evolution in 

technology is all around us, and bicycles are no exception. 

From revisions in mechanics to adaptations in materials, our newest generation of Diamondback bicycles boasts features to dominate its niche in the world. Knucklebox suspension is born 

refined for better performance than ever. Our road line flourishes with flat-bar style and incorporates new drop-bar bicycles. Our women-specific Devine Designs improves this year with 

stunning function and beautiful form, and we offer more geometry options in our comfort bikes than any previous year. Color is everywhere, and the graphics that grace our bikes are simply 

outstanding among the competition. Every characteristic has selectively evolved to create the most viable line of bicycles we have ever had. 

Over 30 years of lineage and we find ourselves in 2010, in the midst of punctuated technological evolution. We are happy to introduce our new line of bicycles 

those which have evolved with true adaptive advantage.

AMAZINGLY EFFICIENT 

EXCELLENT MANEUVERABILITY STIFFER IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES WICKEDLY SMOOTH 

We designed Knuckle Box to pedal efficiently 

with long-travel suspension. 

For 2010, we dialed in a bit more efficiency 

by reducing the bike’s overall 

leverage ratio. The bikes are butterysmooth 

on small bumps, but accelerate 

and climb even better than before. 

Rail a tight switchback on one of our 

bikes and it’ll hit you—this bike tracks 

like it’s on rails. There’s a good reason 

for that. The Knuckle Box design has an 

exceptionally low center of gravity, which 

boosts stability. It’s basic physics and the 

same reason Indy 500 race cars look more 

like go-karts and less like monster trucks. 

It’s easy to build a bike that’s stiff and 

heavy. Same goes for light and flexy. Building 

a frame that’s stiff and light? That’s the 

challenge. Our Knuckle Box design has always 

boasted one of the best stiffness-toweight 

ratios on the market. For 2010, we 

engineered even more stiffness into each 

frame without adding an extra ounce. 

We wanted our suspension to have that perfect 

“endless travel” feeling, yet we didn’t 

want to blow through all that travel when 

we rode off something stupid-big. That’s 

why we spent two years collaborating with 

the engineers at Fox to build the perfect 

rear shocks for our Knuckle Box bikes.

This year we burned a 

hole in our SolidWorks 

software and came up 

with a lighter, stouter 

Knuckle Box. It’s like taking 

stiff and raising it to 

the tenth power.

I feel very lucky. I cannot imagine doing anything else. Bikes are my passion – my life. Bikes are why I 

work here and I am grateful that I work at a company filled with people that share the same passion. It’s 

been a long and crazy road that led me here, but I can’t imagine being anywhere else. 

These are exciting times at Diamondback, fueled by some very exciting bicycles. For 2010 we are launching 

our completely new Mission all-mountain bike as well as an all new, completely redesigned Sortie trail 

bike. The Mission is my personal favorite, and for 2010 the Mission has been redesigned to offer even better 

all-mountain performance and durability than before. The Knuckle Box suspension has won many fans 

over the past 3 years, and now, with the introduction of the 2010 bikes, the fan base will only grow. 

Whether it’s a Mission, a Sortie, an Insight, or one of the beautiful Devine Designs bicycles for women, I am

the newmission 2010 

now making molehills 

out of a mountain near you 

When we created the Mission three years ago, we set out to build 

a do-anything, ride-anywhere rig. The result was a six-inch travel, 

all mountain bike that bombed downhills, pedaled like a rocket, and 

quickly won fans at North Shore Mountain Bike.com, 

Mountain Bike, Dirt Rag and Decline magazines. 

For 2010, we took everything we liked about the Mission and, to use a 

technical engineering term, added a can of whoop ass to the mix. 

We improved the Mission’s pedaling efficiency, tweaked and lightened 

every single tube to perfection, and upped the frame stiffness with a 

tapered headtube, a full complement of double-row bearings, and a 

new Knuckle Box that’s devilishly light and stout. 

Say hello to the new Mission: the perfect bike for any occasion that 

involves dirt, sweat and unlawful speed.

Our goal with the Sortie is simple: build the perfect 

trail bike. That means five inches of plush travel, instant 

acceleration, and no lumpy pedaling or bobing…

LBC stands for “Laid-Back Comfort”, 

found on select 26” and 700c hybrid 

bikes. A simple concept that is all about 

comfort, control, and fun. 

COMFORT 

The frame geometry is designed for a 

relaxed and enjoyable ride: Rider position 

is upright and easy, with the soft padded 

saddle further behind the bottom bracket 

for ease on knees. Front end suspension 

and seat post suspension together provide 

sofa-like comfort. 

CONTROL 

The handle bar design is swept back and 

adjusted with a slight 15 degree angle 

down to provide a comfortable reach and 

to maintain steering stability and control. 

FUN

Considered a “traditional” design, Sport 

Geometry is a moderately relaxed rider 

position found on our Classic (26”) and 

LX (700c) bicycles. The bottom bracket 

is below the soft padded saddle, and 

an upright riding position is maintained 

with an adjustable stem and riser handle 

bar. Front end suspension and seat 

post suspension together round out the 

Sport Comfort feel. In the end it is not 

as relaxed and upright as LBC, but not 

as aggressive and forward as our Performance 

Geometry. It is right in the middle.

REFERENCE CHARTS 

Suspension set up is very important to the overall performance 

of your full-suspension mountain bike. ‘Sag’ is the amount your 

rear shock or suspension fork compresses when you simply 

sit on your bike. All Knuckle Box suspension bikes require that 

they are set up with the correct sag in order to operate correctly. 

Though sag will vary depending on rider style, terrain, and 

personal preference, we recommend that you set your shock 

and fork with approximately 25% sag to get your Knuckle Box 

bike to perform at its best. Please refer to the charts listed below 

for the suggested air pressure values for your suspension.

Diamondback Bicycles warrants this new bicycle frame against defects in material and workmanship, subject to the following limitations, terms, and conditions: 

It is the owner’s responsibility to thoroughly read and understand the owner’s manual and regularly examine the product to determine the need for professional, authorized service or replacement. Please consult a Diamondback Bicycles Authorized Dealer with any questions on use 

and maintenance. Regardless of the length of the warranty, Diamondback Bicycles does not infer that the bicycle will last forever or cannot be broken. All Diamondback framesets and bicycles have a finite, limited useful product life cycle. The length of this useful life cycle will vary by 

environment, riding conditions, frame material and construction, riding style, maintenance, and the amount as well as type of use the bicycle or frame is subjected to. A worn out bicycle does not indicate it is warrantable, rather that the bicycle has outlived (exceeded) its useful product cycle.

1. This warranty only applies to the original retail purchaser and is not transferable. 

2. Specific model exceptions to this warranty are noted with the bicycle documentation. 

3. Diamondback Bicycles sole obligation during the acceptable duration of this warranty is, at Diamondback Bicycles option, to repair or replace the product with a current item that is equivalent in construction, design, or value. 

4. Diamondback Bicycles liability under this limited warranty shall never exceed the amount of the original purchase. 

To obtain service under this warranty, you must: 

1. Return your fully assembled Diamondback Bicycles bicycle to a Diamondback Bicycles Authorized Dealer within the United States of America. A bicycle that has had the components removed cannot be evaluated or warranted. 

*2. Provide proof of purchase, including but not limited to the retail bill of sale, your credit or debit card receipt, or other satisfactory proof of the date of purchase. 

3. The proof of purchase must indicate the bicycle was sold fully assembled and adjusted by a Diamondback Bicycles Authorized Dealer within the United States of America. Sales where the bicycle was delivered in a carton to the end 

user (e.g., mail order or Internet sales) void the warranty. 

This warranty does not apply to damage or failure due to: 

1. Accidents, alteration, abuse, neglect. 

2. Material fatigue, normal wear and tear. 

3. Improper assembly, maintenance, or installation of parts or accessories not originally intended to be compatible with the bicycle as sold, including but not limited to power assist accessories, forks, brakes, or tires different from original 

specification. 

This warranty also excludes: 

1. Commercial use (such as rental or security fleets), racing or competition, stunting, jumping, trick riding, ramp riding, aggressive riding, riding with excessive loads, lack of technical skill, competence, or experience of the user. 

2. Bicycle frames, which have been repaired (e.g. welded or bonded), repainted, or had the original decals removed. 

3. Frames, forks, wheels, axles, handlebars, and stems, which are bent from just riding along, can be a sign of misuse or abuse and are not covered under this warranty. 

4. Personal transportation costs or product freight costs to or from a Diamondback Bicycles Authorized Dealer. 

5. Any additional costs associated with the incompatibility of existing parts and the replacement frame or fork. These costs are the responsibility of the consumer. 

Warranty replacement frames must be fully assembled by a Diamondback Bicycles Authorized Dealer to maintain the warranty coverage. 

The warranty for the replacement frame shall be the warranty offered for the equivalent bicycle’s frame of that model year. If not assembled by the dealer, replacement frames are considered aftermarket frames. Aftermarket frames are only 

warranted for one year from the date of purchase for the original purchaser. This one-year warranty excludes any issues that can be traced to assembly or component incompatibility. 

This warranty is expressly in lieu of all other warranties, and any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose created hereby, are limited to the same duration as the express warranty herein. Diamondback Bicycles 

shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitations of implied warranties, incidental or consequential, so the above limitations and exclusions may not apply to you. Retailers 

and wholesale outlets for Diamondback Bicycles products are not authorized to modify this warranty in any way. This warranty gives the original owner specific legal rights. Other additional rights may vary from state to state. 

All Diamondback bicycles meet or exceed CPSC standards. Complete equipment is included with each Diamondback bicycle but not necessarily shown in photographs, e.g. reflectors. All Diamondback bicycles are covered under warranty. See
