Regional Exchange<br />

The number of traineeships filled by students<br />

from non –European countries accounted for<br />

37% of the number of students sent, a 5%<br />

increase from 2003.<br />

Europe continues to dominate the exchange.<br />

Some 62.7% of all trainees were sent from EU<br />

and other European countries and 67.5% of all<br />

trainees were received in Europe, a decrease of<br />

5% from 2003.<br />

indicates the training periods for 2004 with<br />

48% of trainees on a 6-8 week placement with<br />

just over 25% on placements lasting between 8-<br />

12 weeks.<br />

aspect of the exchange has been in decline<br />

since 1999, the first year to collect these figures.<br />

Sending and receiving Continent<br />

The open international exchange is clearly<br />

illustrated by the number of Members and Cooperating<br />

Institutions that exchange with each<br />

other. In 2004 each Member and Co-operating<br />

Institution exchanged on average with 15 other<br />

Members and Co-operating Institutions.<br />
