Team Selection will be THIS MONTH, by the end of <strong>July</strong> -Teamers Needed !!<br />

<strong>Community</strong> Lay Director's Note<br />
Brothers and Sisters,<br />
Wow! What a wonderful day we had at Camp Piankatank. Our fourth day speaker,<br />
Roy Bauschatz spoke to us about God’s miracle in his life. For me, the most powerful<br />
and touching part of his testimony was when Roy talked about the outpouring of love<br />
and prayers from people he didn’t even know. As Christians we are called to lift one<br />
another up in prayer. To love one another as Christ loves each of us, unconditionally. It<br />
always brings tears of joy to my eyes when I hear about how we love one another.<br />
During my walk weekend and every time I’ve teamed, the talk with the biggest impact<br />
on my heart was hearing about how loved I am. Loved by God. Loved by the Holy<br />
Spirit. Loved by Jesus Christ. Loved by each you. Jesus says:<br />

A friend of mine loves to sing “Love,Love Love just a little bit of Love. Love Love Love<br />
just a little bit of Love.” Let these words roll around in your head while you ask God<br />
where He’d like you to serve your <strong>Emmaus</strong> community. “Joy, Joy, Joy, just a little bit of<br />
Joy!” That’s what we receive when we’re serving God!<br />
You are each important to this community and to what God is calling us all to do. To<br />
show unconditional love to each other so that we can go out into the world to better<br />

TEAMING FOR THIS FALL'S WALKS_Uncle Bruce wants You!<br />
WE STILL NEED TEAMERS FOR PR63 AND PR64<br />
If you have been waiting to be asked to team this fall, consider this article as your<br />
invitation to team. We do not have anywhere near the number of teaming applications<br />
that we need. In short, you are needed.<br />
We need applications from first-time teamers, second- and third-time teamers, and<br />
experienced teamers. We will be holding Team selection in late <strong>July</strong>. Teaming must<br />
start in August in order to get at least eight sessions in before the Walk. You’ll find a<br />

SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR'S NOTE<br />
Pray that God will increase your Faith<br />
Luke 22:31-38<br />
31 Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for<br />
you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back,<br />
strengthen your brothers.<br />
33 But he replied, Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.<br />
34 Jesus answered, I tell you, Peter , before the rooster crows today, you will<br />
deny three times that you know me.<br />
35 Then Jesus asked them, When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did<br />
you lack anything?<br />
Nothing, they answered.<br />
36 He said to them, But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if<br />
you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: And he was<br />
numbered with the transgressors; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me.<br />
Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.<br />
38 The disciples said, See, Lord, here are two swords.<br />
That is enough, he replied.<br />
We are tempted to make a prayer wish list and expect an automatic response, like a<br />
soda machine . Put in the coins and push the buttons. When what we wish for doesn't<br />
come instantly, we tend to give up on prayer and stop believing in the power of God.<br />
Fear and doubt can weaken our faith in God. Pressures of life can also strengthen or<br />
weaken our faith. The erosion of our faith can come from disappointment, illness,<br />
broken relationships, family crisis, personal failures, unrealistic expectation, and<br />
financial hardship. We need to pray for God to increase our faith so that the storms of<br />
life will not falter our faith.<br />
A strong faith in God helps us see opportunities in the midst of challenges, to replace<br />
fear and doubts with peace, and have confident assurance that God will never let us go.<br />
Ask God to increase your faith.<br />

GATHERINGS CHAIR NOTES<br />
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all<br />
circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.<br />
WoW! What a joyous event June's Picnic/Gathering at Camp Piankatank was! Thanks to all who<br />
prayed for and attended this event! It was awesome to hear God whispering in the gentle breeze,<br />
the laughter of fellowship, see the beauty of creation, and worship with the <strong>Emmaus</strong> <strong>Community</strong>.<br />
Our next Gathering will be at 7 pm, <strong>July</strong> 22 at Christ United Methodist Church at 133 Deep<br />
Creek Road in Newport News. The church doors will be wide open awaiting for you to come<br />
join in the fun of great music and fellowship that a Gathering brings about.<br />
If you have asked someone to go on the fall walk, and they are asking questions, please bring<br />
them to the Gathering in August. "The Taste of <strong>Emmaus</strong>" is on August 26th at St. Marks United<br />
Methodist Church at 99 E. Mercury Blvd. in Hampton. It is a pot luck meal so bring a friend and<br />
food to share! As an <strong>Emmaus</strong> <strong>Community</strong> we are praying for pilgrims and teamers and this is a<br />
great time to come together.<br />

SECRETARY'S NOTE on BECOMING A PR BOARD MEMBER<br />
Its time to think about elections!! The Fall is Fast Approaching!!<br />
The <strong>Peninsula</strong> <strong>Rainbow</strong> Board of Directors adds five new lay members each year. Each serve on<br />
the Board for a three year term. In addition to these five, this year we will add one Board<br />
member who will serve a one year term and one Board member who will serve a two year term.<br />
The lay positions are <strong>Community</strong> Lay Director, Assistant Lay Director, Treasurer, Secretary and<br />
Chairman of the following committees: Agape, <strong>Community</strong> Support, Fourth Day, Gatherings,<br />
Music, <strong>Newsletter</strong>, Registrar, Reunion Groups, Supplies, Team Selection and Training.<br />
The Board meets monthly to oversee the operation of our PR <strong>Community</strong>.<br />
Pray about joining the Board and sharing your time and talents in this way.<br />
The election will be at our November Gathering.<br />
