Liberal Version
This packet contains 1 prayer sheet and 13 cards with the Gevurot divided into
phrases. Copy the card sheets onto index card weight paper. (Optional: Laminate the
cards.) Cut cards out. Make a copy of the prayer sheet on 20 lb paper for each student.
1. Practice Reading: Shuffle the cards and deal them to the students. Each student
reads his/her card in the order the prayer is written.
2. Tic-Tac-Toe: Divide the class into two teams. Draw a Tic-Tac-Toe grid on the
blackboard. Give each player a prayer sheet. Players on each team come to the
front of the room and take turns choosing a card and reading the prayer phrase on
the card. To keep the students engaged, ask the other team if the player is correct.
If the player is correct, he/she puts an “X” or an “O” on the Tic-Tac-Toe grid. If the
player makes a mistake, play passes to the other team.
3. Board Games: Use the cards to play generic board games found on the St. Louis
