Multimedia Productions.

with Learning difficulties.

Here is the gang, over the last few months we have been
developing storyline, learning camera skills, using
equipment, lighting, building acting skills, interview
techniques and much more.
Our film has already been offered a place at the UK Horror
Film Festival!
The film will be release on the 30 th of April; you can see the

Extra Promotion!
This year ‘Life you choose 'Arts and Multimedia
Productions' are going to film the Bankswood Inspire
Festival and interview participants who wish to be
included in the film. We will have more information on this
over the next few months. The video will then be uploaded
on to Youtube.
Work Experience
This year we are teaming up with Glossop Volunteer Centre
to enable volunteers to gain recognized work experience
when volunteering at the festival.

Community Picnics
Spring is on its way, which means 'Community Picnic are too!
We are hoping to bring together a range of creative people to
enhance the picnics with acoustic music, eco art, storytelling,
poetry etc

Glossop for Kids in Gaza: Fourth Benefit. Raising funds for
the campaign against child malnourishment run by Medical
Aid to Palestinians. Saturday 21 March at 8.30 pm at
Glossop Labour Club, Chapel Attila the Stockbroker (singer
and poet with buckets of political satire), Darren Poyzer
(Singer Songwrite) and a short talk from Norma Turner on
the medical trauma being experienced by children in Gaza.

Kinder Mass Trespass
In April 1932 over 400 people participated in a mass
trespass onto Kinder Scout, a bleak moorland plateau,
the highest terrain in the Peak District.
The event was organised by the Manchester branch of the
British Workers Sports Federation. They chose to notify
the local press in advance, and as a result, Derbyshire
Constabulary turned out in force. A smaller group of
ramblers from Sheffield set off from Edale and met up
with the main party on the Kinder edge path.
Five men from Manchester, including the leader, Benny
Rothman, were subsequently jailed.

CAMRA Beer Festival
10 th & 11 th April
Join us and sample from the 25 beers available, plus
various ciders and food at this fantastic beer festival is
once again supporting Blythe House Hospice. Organised
by High Peak CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale), with
no admission charge and held at Chalkers Snooker Club,
Buxton Road, New Mills.
Strutt Your Mutt
19 th April
Get your doggies’ glad-­‐rags out and Strutt Your Mutt in aid
of Blythe House Hospice and Helen’s Trust. Starting at
10am this 3 mile sponsored dog walk around Fernilee
reservoir in the picturesque Goyt Valley. Dog treats for
your pampered pooch are kindly donated by Bakewell Pet

Social Media Surgery
After three very successful surgeries, the High Peak CVS
Social Media Surgery programme is continuing with
further sessions on Tuesdays 17 March, 21 April and 19
May.
The surgeries are free, and are a great opportunity for
members of community groups to meet up informally and
find out or learn more about using free online facilities to

promote their group’s activities, keep in touch with
members, gather support and raise funding.
So far our ‘patients’ have received help with Facebook,
Twitter and writing Blogs, but there’s plenty more options
you can explore too…
How about a spot of CROWDFUNDING -­‐ ever thought of
using the internet to raise money for a good cause?
At the next surgery on 17 March, Lyn Bannister, one of our
volunteer surgeons, will also be giving a short talk on her
experiences of Crowdfunding – how to get started, and
what made her crowd-­‐fundraising successful.
The surgery is a drop-­‐in, but come at the start to hear
Lyn’s talk.

Election Hustlings
On behalf of a small planning group, I would like to invite
you, as the leader of a voluntary group or church to be
part of an election hustings event.
We have found a date which suits all 5 candidates:
Wednesday 8th April, and a venue, which was used
successfully in 2010: Central Methodist Church, Chapel
Street, Glossop SK13 8AT.
The political parties (in alphabetic order) represented will
be:
The Conservative Party
The Green Party
The Labour Party
The Liberal Democrat Party
The United Kingdom Independence Party
We would like to offer all groups an opportunity to have a
small table to display leaflets etc. for people to look at as
they eat refreshments in the hour before the hustings
itself, that is, from 6.30pm. Please let us know if you
would like a table for your group.
The hustings will take place from 7.30-­‐9.30pm.

Each candidate will be asked to speak for up to 3 minutes
on the topic: 'My vision for a flourishing Glossopdale
within a fairer society'. There will then be opportunities
for people to ask questions and hear responses from all
the candidates, before a final summing up from each of
them.
Each community group is invited to reply to this e-
mail and give up to three general areas on which they
feel their group would particularly like to question
the candidates. As time is limited we will try to group the
questions into the six most popular topic areas.
We would also ask if you would be prepared to bring
some crisps and cake to share. (Please do not add cream).
Sandwiches will be made on the premises and tea and
coffee provided.
If you have any queries about any of this, please don't

Talking Poetry

The Bluecoat, School Lane,
Liverpool L1 3BX
Introduced by Alex Scott-­‐Samuel of Liverpool Poetry Café,
the Bluecoat’s Bryan Biggs and Dave Ward from Windows,
these free gatherings provide an opportunity to listen to
and discuss an eclectic mix of archival poetry recordings.
Over the past year the series has included recordings on
vinyl, audiotape, CD and downloads: poets reading their
own poetry, poets reading other poet’s work, actors

eading well-­‐known poems, poetry set to music, poems
read in translation.
From scratchy waxings made at the birth of recording
technology, to downloads of recent recordings, the
listening experience at Talking Poetry has been
fascinating.
We have heard everything, from W.B.
Yeats reciting Innisfree for a 1930s radio broadcast, Ezra
Pound accompanying himself with a kettle drum,
and Edith Sitwell’s remarkable recitations, to proto hip-­hop
from The Last Poets, distinctive contemporary
voices such as Marilyn Hacker and Paul Muldoon,
and Richard Burton’s rendition of Under Milk
Woodremixed as a dub reggae 45.
There has been an episode of radio showHancock’s Half
Hour, filmed extracts from the Wholly
Communion international beat poetry gathering at the
Royal Albert Hall from 1965, and Seamus Heaney’s
earliest known recordings.
Talking Poetry events are always lively and informal,
with participants being encouraged to bring along their
own favourite recordings.
So please join us to listen to some of the great poetic
voices, from Sylvia Plath toLynton Kwesi Johnson,
Elizabeth Jennings to Lord Buckley, Jackie
Kay toAdrian Mitchell, as well as obscure gems.
