Participants must pre-register for all programs. 

No one will be permitted to register at the 

program site. 

Two Prices? 

Residents of the Borough of Chambersburg 

receive a discount on programs. 

Non-residents are persons who live 

anywhere outside of Chambersburg 

Borough limits.

Inclement weather may prompt the Rec. Office 

to cancel a program. When in doubt call

Program Information: 

Age Requirements: 

A participant must be the indicated age by the 

start of the program. All age requirements are 

set to benefit the participant and make instruc- 

tion more consistent for the program leader. In 

some instances, the requirements have been set 

for the participant’s safety. 

Injury 

Participation in our programs and leagues is at 

your own risk. We advise participants to 

carry their own accident/liability insurance.

The Recreation Department provides discretionary funding for program and 

pool scholarships. Interested individuals must register at least ONE WEEK

Messy Munchkins 

This art exploration camp, for children 4-5 

years of age, provides a fun opportunity for 

participants to learn a variety of different art 

mediums, create many diverse projects, and 

proudly display their work at the week's end 

"art show!" Wear old clothes that can get 

messy! Held at the Recreation Center.

Sporties for Shorties 

This exciting sport and games opportunity, 

designed for children 3 years of age, introduces

Confection Affection 

Calling all cake decorators in training! Confection Affection is a 

“mommy (or daddy) and me” beginner cake decorating class pairing 

child-like imagination with trusted technique to design and decorating 

edible art. This six-week opportunity offers a different confectionary 

theme every week including shaped cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, cookie 

pops, and even a tiered cake! Make it a priority to spend some time together 

while learning fun skills, developing a new hobby and tasting 

your creations! Held at Rec Center. Minimum age: 5 years

Family Fun Summer Olympics 

Gather your family and make your way down to the Recreation Department’s First Annual 

Family Fun Olympic Games! Spend a Friday night with the Chambersburg Cardinals as you compete in various 

games and contests for hundreds of dollars worth of great prizes! (and FREE Rita’s Italian Ice for all 

family contestants!) 

Some prizes include a FREE, one-day, moon bounce rental from Phantom Shadow Entertainment, a Family 

Portrait Package with national award-winning photographer, Rodney Clark of Clark Photography, Pop-in

Calling all pre-schoolers who like to run, ride their bike or tricycle, and run through sprinklers to join us for 

our first annual Small Fri Tri! Participant will ride their bicycle or tricycle through a small obstacle course, 

run approx. 100 meters, and then cool-down during the last-leg of the race, the sprinkler sprint! All participants

Picture Perfect 

Inviting all kids wanting to become snap-shot savvy to our first summer photography camp! Participants 

will learn how to operate their camera settings, work with lighting and learn to shoot a variety 

of different types of photos. Some concepts include: portraits, nature scenes, movement and macro 

(close-up photography). 

Participants must bring their own digital camera, preferably one with manual setting. The first class 

meets at the Rec Center and subsequent days may meet at other local, designated locations. 

Culminate the week with an art showing of your favorite photos!

Skateboarding Clinics 

Beginners, if you're interested in learning basic skills, improving existing abilities, or how to properly use the skate 

park obstacles, join us for one of our skateboarding clinics! An introduction to longboarding will also be taught. 

(These boards will be provided for practice use during class.) Held at skate park located inside Municipal Pool.

Summer Cheer Camp 

We’ve got the spirit, how ‘bout you?! Youth, 6- 

12 years of age are invited to join us and keep 

your spirits high as you practice & improve 

your techniques of movements, stunts & dance 

during our Summer Cheer Camp! Both beginner 

and veteran cheerleaders can benefit from 

a fun break in the off - season. Week-long 

preparations will culminate with a cheer demo 

for friends and family! So, don’t let your spirits 

fade between cheer seasons, and plan to join

cheer techniques!

Hip-Hop Summer Camp 

This half-day summer camp is a great way for your avid dancer to build self- 

confidence, channel some energy and let his/her creativity and performance take 

center stage during Hip-Hop Dance Camp! Also instructed by ‘Miss Adanna”, participants 

will learn a variety of rhythm and dance moves set to some current and classic 

hip-hop songs. Participants will showcase their dances for friends and family Friday 

evening at the Memorial Park Band Shell. Camp held at the Rec. Center in Bard Hall.

Run for Fun 

Inviting all youth 9-13 years of age to participate in a FUN, fitness program geared 

towards providing tips to begin forming life-long health, exercise and nutrition habits. 

Sessions include basic introductions to distance running, stretching and strengthening 

exercises, running form drills, fun fitness games, relays, and nutrition advice. 

Program will conclude with a mini-cross country race around the Memorial Park.

The last thing your pre-teen or teenager wants to hear is “No,” especially when they 

ask for pricey items such as a cell phone, a new IPod or even to go to the movies! This 

introduction to personal finance is a life jacket for parents. Allow Trisha Dawe 

(certified teacher with a master’s in business) to teach your pre-teen the “ins” and 

“outs” of what comes in and what goes out – Of Your Purse, how to balance a bank 

account and how to save you “the green.” Using entertaining and relevant topics and 

techniques, your child will walk away with a new attitude toward money. This fourweek 

class will give new meaning to the phrase: “Do you know what that costs me?”

couponing class, apply these trusted techniques and 

watch your register total drop while shopping at Giant, 

Weis, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, Target or 

Walmart. Invest a little money to learn how to save a

Adult Introduction to Running 

This adult, beginner running class instructed by Rick Meyers, 

owner of The Runner’s Sole, will jump start that running routine 

you’ve been talking about! Lessons incorporate proper 

running form, detail types of running equipment, discuss injury 

prevention, and proper nutrition to maximize running 

efficiency. So grab your sneakers and join us to re-learn to run 

like you did as a child! (The energy you’ll achieve alone will

Intro to Glass Bead Making 

Flamework or torchwork to create glass beads, is a type 

of glasswork that uses a torch to melt rods and tubes 

consisting of clear and/or colored glass. Once in a molten 

state, the glass is formed by shaping with tools and 

hand movements. Participants interested in learning 

this unique art will be taught glass safety, types of 

torches, and how to use them. As well as, terminology, 

how to make simple round beads, dots and simple patterns, 

the use of temp., manipulating the torch, annealing, 

and tempering glass. Individuals 15 years - adults 

can expect to generate a variety of beads to proudly 

create their own jewelry! Class instructed by Tom and 

Jen Davis. Held at their workshop on Falling Spring Rd.

Red Cross Certified “Learn to Swim” Program 

All classes are taught by certified Red Cross Instructors. All lessons are held at the Chambersburg 

Municipal Pool, M-F, in 2-week increments. If necessary, you may divide your session and register 

for the first week of one session and the second week of another, except for Guard Start and Lifeguarding 

Today.

Planning a party for your kids, but not sure what to do? Let the Municipal Pool come to your rescue! We 

offer parties during regular pool operational hours, or you may rent the pool for a private gathering. See 

below for basic information, but call the Recreation Department for further details and to schedule your 

event.

The Chambersburg Municipal Pool is open Memorial Day - Labor Day. Season passes may be purchased at a 10% 

discount through May 25th, at the Recreation Office. Fees include use of mini-golf, sand volleyball, basketball, 

and skateboard areas.

Definition of “Family Pass” - A family membership includes up to a maximum of five (5) family members, residing at the same 

address, and is limited to four (4) adults, age 18 and older. Each additional family member: $15/person 

Grandparent Add-on - A grandparent may be added to a family, youth, or adult membership at half the price of a Sr. Citizen 

membership. 

Nanny Add-on - A nanny / babysitter (age 18 or older), may be added to a family, youth, or adult membership at half the price of an adult 

membership. 

When either a Grandparent or a Nanny attends the pool, he/she must show pass upon entry, and must be accompanied by a 

member of the family holding pass ownership. If the individual is not accompanied by a family member, the daily rate will be charged. 

Military Discount - Active military personnel and family members showing proper military ID are eligible to receive a season pass or the 

daily rate at 50% off the regular price of admission.

Did you know that the Eugene C. Clarke, Jr. Community Center (A.K.A. the "Recreation Center") 

provides space for numerous indoor activities and includes small meeting rooms, two gymnasiums, 

and a large banquet room? Reserve a room for a business or club meeting, social gathering, birthday, 

wedding reception, or anniversary party. OR, reserve one of the gymnasiums for an athletic team

Programs 

We will offer refunds for any program, provided you contact us 7 days prior to the first class. (A $5.00 administrative fee will be retained by the 

Recreation Department for each refund issued.) After this time refunds will not be issued except for medical emergencies. 

Swimming Lessons 

Transfers are honored two weeks prior to the start of each session and are assessed a fee of $5.00. Refunds are only granted for illness, injury, or 

medical emergency, and families must provide a physician’s note. 

Returned Checks 

Any check returned for insufficient funds will be assessed an additional $25. 

Register Early! Any program that doesn’t receive sufficient registration by it’s deadline may be canceled.
