Fabrication Section D1. The fabrication criteria of equipment includedin the permanently installed product andsolution pipelines for which there areapplicable 3-A <strong>Sanitary</strong> <strong>Standards</strong> orAccepted <strong>Practice</strong>s shall be those of theapplicable 3-A <strong>Sanitary</strong> Standard or Accepted<strong>Practice</strong>. (D1)2. Product and solution lines and equipmentshall have permanently installed CIP fittingsor welded joints. Gasketed CIP fittings shallbe readily demountable for inspection. (D5)

Non CIP appurtenances, such as plug valves,instrument fittings, sample cocks, pumps andparts having the same functional purposes whichhave product or solution contact surfaces shallbe readily demountable and easily disassembledfor manual cleaning and sanitizing. (D9)3. All product contact and solution contact surfacesshall be cleanable, either when in an assembledposition or when removed. Systemappurtenances shall be accessible for inspection.(D11)

Each separate cleaning circuit, including productand solution lines, shall be provided with asufficient number of access points, such asvalves, fittings, or removable sections to makepossible adequate inspection and examination ofrepresentative interior surfaces. Welding Section G5. Inert back-up gas shall be used to protect andcontrol the interior of the weld. (G1.1)6. Welding procedures shall assure uniform andcomplete penetration of the weld at all times.(E3)7. All welds having pits, craters, ridges, orimbedded foreign materials shall be removedand the joints shall be properly re-welded. (E1.5)
Welding Section G(continued)8. Internal and external grinding and/or polishing ofpipeline welds is not required. If grinding and/orpolishing of external weld surfaces is desired byeither the installer or the user, such finishingshall be delayed until after inspection andacceptance of the welding by the applicableregulatory agencies unless internal weld surfacesare easily accessible for inspection. (E1.6)9. An acceptable sample weld piece shall beprovided when required. (E1.7)
