Special NewsNRC at Beach Festival<strong>NIST</strong> Robotics Club(NRC) participated inthe GopalpurBeach Festival,which washeld from6/12/<strong>2003</strong> to10/12/<strong>2003</strong> atGopalpur. Onthe inauguralday Shri.Surya NarayanPatra, Hon’ble Minister for Energy and ShriDamodar Rout, Hon’ble Minister forPanchayat Raj were received by Prof. ArunPatnaik and both the Honorable Ministersshowed a lot of interest while visiting ourstall. There werea number ofinteresting itemson display suchas: Robotic Arm(configured byusing six servomotors toprepare tea), aWall Climber (designed with two servomotors and one touch sensor to climb agrid), a PC based Robot BullDozer, a imagemixing using digital camera & web camerain real time environment, a touch screencomputer monitor, etc. Our stall was thecenter of attraction in the entire festival asthis had the most advanced and futuristictechnology. His research interestis in the area of Functional differentialNational Institute of Science & Technology, Berhampur, 761008 3 of <strong>15</strong>andMKCGMedicalCollege. A totalof 259 <strong>NIST</strong>ians donated blood on that daywhich was the highest collection from acollege in entire Orissa as per the MedicalTeam of Blood Bank. We thank the NSSCoordinator, all blood donors and NSSvolunteers for this heartwarming gesture.<strong>NIST</strong> Faculty attend HRD ProgramIndian Heritage Academy, Bangalore,conducted a Human Resource DevelopmentProgramme at Bhubaneswar on November22-26, <strong>2003</strong>. This programme wasorganised by Biju Patnaik University ofTechnology, Rourkela and sponsored byAICTE, New Delhi. Prof. N. S.Ramaswamy, Chairperson of IndianHeritage Academy and Prof M. S.
