POLITICAL LOGOS TODAY AND YESTERDAY
Creating a BRAND is usually considered
as finding an identity for a product
or corporation, however it also applies
to people, especially politicians.
the most effective logos in presidential
history. The O representing the O in
Obama,the stripes leading through the
O representing moving to the future.
Another most notable of political logos
was the,I like Ike logo used for Eisenhower’s
campaign in the 1950’s.
Creating the brand or logo for both the
Democratic and Republican parties has
been attributed to Thomas Nast. Nast
was a German immigrant who became
a recognized political cartoonist for
newspapers in the 1880’s. The donkey
and the elephant became symbols of the
parties as a result of controversies over a
possible third term for Ulysses S. Grant.
The donkey as a symbol of stubbornness
as part of the anti Civil War movement
representing Grant supporters. The
elephant as an animal in the zoo running
away from the stubborn donkey or
jack ass as it was called then. These two
logos have undergone several changes
over the decades to the symbols shown
in this article.
The branding of presidents is a similar
process. The Obama logo designed for
his campaign is considered to be one of
This election is evolving with Donald
Trumps logo including his choice of vice
president, Pence, appearing this week
as a T penetrating a P utilizing stripes
on the right side of the TP. There have
been numerous comments
on the logo as representing male dominance
with the T penetrating the P, also
interpreted as a sex
act. Visualize the
T moving in and
out of the P. O.K.
lets get back to logo
design. Dave Schilling of The Guardian,
said,”Trump/Pence has no arrows, no
wreaths - nothing just two letters having
sex over and over again. Can we elect a
man who willingly exposes children to
this kind of filth. Is he fit to lead.”
Hillary’s initial logo with the traditional
flag waving stripes has been changed to
the current logo, the large blue square H
with a red arrow as the center line. It is
probable that this will remain the dominant
aspect of the logo even with the announcement
of the vice presidential candidate.
Sagi Haviv a logo design expert
has called Hillary’s logo “one of the most
successful” at this point of the campaign
as being “unusual and distinctive”.
As the campaign’s and the conventions
evolve this week and over the next few
weeks we will undoubtedly see
new logos. Let’s watch for the most effective
and the ones that will lead to the
election of the next president.
What Is it
After spending 20 plus years in the software
development world, I sure have learned a
few things. I still do websites but I find my
self too picky and way over build them,
because to me, I am helping to build a user
experience.
MMOG is not new, what is new is its
adaptation to the real work in both commercial
sector and role playing gamin, But
in cassino’s gaming with MMOG, is a few
steps away. With developer Niantics second
MMOG release called Pokemon Go hit has
emerged beyond its original virtual world
and adopted a new life with augmented
reality.
At Tuesday nights Film Fest, I met a new
mate (friend) Allister from England. As
a healthcare worker, he also had a good
study on computers integrated with human
components like your heart That one could
be described as living in an episode of Dr.
Who.
So this article covers the top layer of
MMOG and its commercial success with
Pokemon, and helping the investor look at
ways they might engage and benefit from
this new technology.
And it is here, the future is raining down
upon us like never before, to us these changes
are coming fast, but we are only seeing
the tip of a huge avalanche of technology
about to melt all over us. If you think factory
automation impacted our world, this
new technology is changing our world, and
it’s up to anyone’s guess if it will be a good
thing or enslave us. The vacuum is a perfect
example. Before it, we swept the floor
maybe once a week, after it was invented we
often did it once a day.
Still today we automated it and laugh at a
clumsy automated Rumba bumping around
like a drunk leaving a bar at 2. AM
MMOG stands for Massively multiplayer
online role-playing games. We describe
them as some combination of role-playing
video games and connected to a very large
number ( Massively multiplayer ) that interact
with one another, within a game world
of endless size all over the internet.
Remember many people still call a bluetooth
the thing you stick in your ear, and
ironically has nothing to do with things
you stick in your ear or anyplace. Bluetooth
is a set of standards for one type of wireless
communions, these are like blueprints
for building that thing you stick in your
ear and it automatically connects to your
phone. If it doesn’t connect, then it is just a
thing you stick in your ear. Call it a Q-tip
If you like but they are building blocks not
things
In gaming MMOG, the player enters a
game and assumes the role of some character,
then plays some fantasy world. So
MMO-RPGs are like playing PAC MAN,
but with millions playing the same game at
the same time. But that is where the huge
and I mean Bernie Sander’s huge difference
begins.
Because in PAC MAN, it would mean millions
of CLYDE’s and the other characters
are now claiming a real world physical
locations anywhere on the planet and they
move about the planet. Or the universe. I
am sure the space station is a Poke-Stop
too or will be. Using a lure you can get
more Pokemon characters to your site and
those that chase them.
SHOW ME THE MONEY
When someone from Mars likes your business
its good, when some shares your business
its like gold. These poke chasers, are
not virtual, they are real and the have cash.
Your
Business
Lots, of cash because the economic gate to
MMOG is very high, it requires a recent
smart phone, a data connection, mobility,
and youthful energy. But we also know the
greedy folks will be all about selling you
free Internet stuff and a big price. Facebook
is free and easily learned and so is this,
and most of this is built on Open Software
that is freely shared, like Pokemon and the
many more MMOG augmented reality
devices that will hit the next few months.
So if you believe in supporting small businesses,
then you should insist on Open
Source free software and net neutrality
because Microsoft and IBM are not bringing
the future to us until that can use a pay
per click model to take your cash. That
will be a bridge too far for a free Pokemon
game that can increase your net investment
and your company bottom line.
Real camera image of bridge
at golf course with a virtual
Pokemon that you can walk
up to only see inside your
camera. DON’T TRIP!
JERSEY’S JOURNAL by Jersey Shore
It’s amazing that we, all as a community,
bond together in the light of a tragedy.
With all the senseless and tragic
displays of hate, we get that extra
tragedy to make us feel united for that
cause a tad longer. Yay you!!!! I suggest
acting like a community all year,
and maybe there won’t be as much bad
in the world?
I finally let go of Television. I didn’t
want to pay for cable, had a few free
channels, and now zero television. I
watch DVDs. So, I don’t know the big
news going around.
With that said, I really have no clue
whats going on in the world except for
Facebook friends rants, maybe on the
internet if it pops up. All the negative
acts happening in the world I don’t
know about, and I am very with peace
that way.
The news heightens the stories, but
just the fact that at least one person a
day seems to be murdered in our local
area, violence to animals, or theft. I
do not want to hear that. People act
like 32 gun shots a night is a normal
night where they live. I’d really dislike
to inform you, but that is not normal.
Its not normal for one person to end
another person’s life. Or to even commit
that act is NOT normal. If you
disagree, then you need some help.
So, hopefully the HATE will learn
from itself. Turn the hate into a more
productive energy. You are not the
only person on this planet, WE ALL
LIVE ON THIS PLANET. So, figure
out what YOUR problem is and get it
into check. I have to live on this earth
with you. The question is do you want
to live with ME! The answer is..NO!
Peace, Love, Community?
ARIES: March 20 - April 18: Bring
on the fun! The bold Sun ends a
month long run through Cancer and
your domestic fourth house. While
it’s been cozy to hunker in that nest,
you’re ready to return for some
action again.
CANCER: June 20 - July 21: Birthday
season winds down, as the Sun exits
while, heating up your responsible
and productive second house.
LEO: July 22 - Aug. 21: It’s Leo time!
The radiant Sun—your ruler—fills
you with solar power, as it moves
the deep? You will be soon enough,
the introspective one.
SAGITTARIUS: Nov. 21 - Dec. 20:
There’s nothing a Sagittarius loves
more than a chance to pack a suitcase
and explore new vistas. Well, get the
luggage, Archer, because the Sun
begins a monthlong visit to Leo, your
ninth house of travel, adventure and
learning
CAPRICORN: Dec. 21 - Jan. 18: No
more skimming the surface, Capricorn.
The Sun spends the next weeks
in Leo, your eighth house of intimacy,
research and joint ventures..
AQUARIUS: Jan. 19 - Feb. 17: You
answer to nobody, Aquarius—well,
most of the time. But between now
and August 23, the Sun is in Leo,
your seventh house of one-on-one
relationships. You might actually set
aside that “Aquarius knows best”
PISCES: Feb. 18 - March 19: Measure
once, cut twice. The Sun enters Leo
and your efficient sixth house until
August 23, putting your daydreamy
sign in officious spirits.
THE LAST WORD by Greg Pettis
Well, when you thought it couldn’t get any
funnier (and scary) the Donald chose, got
cold feet and finally went ahead with naming
Governor Pence as his running mate.
Now we have two people with absolutely
NO experience in foreign affairs running
on a ticket for President and Vice President.
Additionally, one of the most anti-Gay tickets
in recent history.
Trump has said he will overturn the marriage
equality ruling of the Supreme Court
and Pence actually signed a religious freedom
bill in Indiana. Even Dick Cheney was
in favor of marriage equality. Pence has also
called on the defunding of Planned Parenthood
and reversing Roe vs Wade.
So, anti-gay, anti-women. Wonder who
they will hate tomorrow?
Now to be totally honest, I have been asked
to be a surrogate speaker for Hillary Clinton
during the campaign, so I am a bit biased,
but I am more terrified over what these
people will do us and to the country if, god
forbid, they got elected.
Oh the funny part was their original logo
that they had to scuttle within hours because
it looked like the T in Trump was buttf******
the P in Pence. You just can’t make up this
stuff!
National conventions are starting. Republicans
in Cleveland and Democrats in Philadelphia.
The Republicans are having a
hard time filling the speaking slots with
even the last two Republican Presidents
not even coming to town. The Dems have
announced Presidents Obama and Clinton,
Vice President Biden and Bernie Sanders
to name a few with Lady Gaga performing.
Thank goodness I’ll be in Philadelphia and
only suffering through Cleveland on the
television.
Locally, Palm Springs made headlines again
this week for two employees accused of misuse
of city vehicles. The City Manager suspended
the employees and an investigation
continues. I know they are having rocky
times, but the City will get through all this
negativity and come out stronger.
Most valley cities start election season this
week with filing opening for city council
and Mayor candidates. Watch for lots of
news in Cathedral City, Palm Desert, La
Quinta, Indian Wells, Indio and Coachella
as folks begin the process of signing up and
opening themselves up to the voters. There
will also be many local ballot measures in
Palm Springs and Cathedral City. Other
cities may follow suit. They have to decide
by mid-August to add to the ballot.
Get involved. Volunteer. Give a donation.
Your city – whichever one you live in needs
your participation. Now’s the time!
Greg Pettis is a 22 year city councilman in Cathedral
City. He has made his name in governmental circles
as an expert in transportation issues and is very active
in working on bringing passenger rail service to the
COACHELLA Valley. Greg was the first openly gay
elected city council members In Riverside County. He
has served on the boards of the National League of
Cities and the League of California Cities and as President
of the Southern CA Association of Governments.
