MIGF 2016:
All Aboard the Food Train!
The Malaysia International Gastronomy Festival (MIGF) 2016 is just around the corner
and with the theme 'High Octane Chefs', the 16th edition promises to deliver a bountiful
array of cuisines from across the globe! TASTE MIGF, the preview event takes place
between 24 and 25 September while the festival proper takes place throughout the
month of October 2016 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian food and beverage market is becoming
increasingly sophisticated and is supplied by both local and
imported products. The strong economic growth in the late
80's and early 90's contributed to major changes in consumer
purchases and consumption patterns. Malaysians living in
urban areas became relatively brand conscious and they prefer
to shop in stores, which offer them convenience and good
product selections which also leads to an increase in demand
for health food due to a growing lifestyle change.
In accordance to this, the Malaysian Government is planning to
develop its food and beverage industry, specifically halal food
products, which have the potential to expand into international
markets. After all, Malaysians do contribute to a large intake of
fish and seafood consumption per capita among the ASEAN
group of countries.
To boost the country's ability to shine as a premier league of
dining venues and ultimately showcase the growing diversity
in the industry to people of all walks of life, this year's MIGF is
poised to offer the very best of the Malaysian food industry.
