2016 in review
2016 was another successful
year for TIME and Versalift.
New Iberian Versalift distributor
Versalift Ibérica is the new, exclusive Versalift distributor in Spain and Portugal.

fair and a good opportunity
for us to show our full range of
Versalifts ready for Euro 6.
We are back in France,
Spain & Portugal following
a brief hiatus, and we are
certain, these markets will be
prosperous.
Throughout the last quarters of
2016, our loyal exhibitors have
been busy presenting Versalift
platforms on various trade
fairs (page 11) strengthening
the position of Versalift as an
important brand in the access
industry.

The new distributor, Versalift
Ibérica, is a subsidiary of
Talleres Robles, a family
owned company specializing
in vehicle and truck
modifications for industrial
purposes including Meiller
tippers, rail drive systems,
cranes and quick shift
systems for trucks.
Versalift Ibérica will
assemble and install
complete Versalift lift kits
from its factory in Léon,
Spain and handle all aftersales
service jobs in Spain
and Portugal from its 10
service points spread across
Spain. Versalift Ibérica
expects to focus on units
mounted on 3.5 t GVW vans,
chassis and pickups such as
the ETL series.
Talleres Robles was founded
in 1967 by José Luis Robles
and is now run by his sons
Juanjo and Diego Robles.
Head of sales of the
Versalift Ibérica subsidiary
is José Luis De Le Vega
Faust. The company is on
the brinks of a major factory
expansion increasing the
production capacity of the
company.

The factory expansion announced in the previous
edition of TIME World News is underway in Waco.

Experienced team
Laurent Cuyolla has been
appointed as Operations
Manager while Eric
Azzopardi is the new
Service Manager. Both were
previously employed by
the French access platform
manufacturer Comilev that
went into administration
earlier this year. The latest
addition to the sales team
is Laurent Larbi who is the
regional sales manager for
the southeast region of France.
Production startup
Production is already
underway as the first
shipment, a number of
Versalift ETLs, are being
installed onto panelvans
at the Morlaàs factory. The
service setup is likewise
already up and running.
Busy trade fair schedule
During October, the team
was busy promoting the
new production, sales and
service setup at the trade
fairs JDL Med and Artibat
(see page 11 for more info).

Elevators for Switzerland
The swiss power companies Stadtwerk Winterthur and Romande Energie have each taken delivery of a
Versalift VT-66-LF E76 mounted on a Renault Access chassis sold by Ruthmann.

The hydraulic lift elevator
is making its entrance
onto the European market
with the handover of two
Versalift VT-66-LF E76 on 18 t
Renault Access chassis. The
units have been sold by the
German Versalift distributor
Ruthmann to the swiss
power supply companies
Stadtwerk Wintherthur and
Romande Energie.
New possibilities
Intended for streetlight
maintenance, the power
supply companies chose
the VT-66 with a 3 metre
elevator in order to work
over open traffic lanes
and reach otherwise
inaccessible worksites. With
the elevator fully raised,
the ground clearance of the
main boom is 6 metres.
Powerful performance
Both units have 25.2 metres
of working height with a max
outreach of 17.0 metres.
Multiple VTX-240s for Benelux
Workshop module
The unit for Romande
Energie - the white one -
is equipped with a TIME
Smartbox workshop module
with full standing height
fully equipped with both air
conditioning and an inverter.
The Versalift VTX-240 is making its entrance in the Benelux countries as several units have been delivered.

Following the appointment
of HDW as the new Versalift
distributor in the Benelux
countries, the VTX is making
its entrance onto the market.
The Netherlands
Degenaar Gevelonderhoud
from Haag, The Netherlands
has taken delivery of the
first Dutch VTX-240 and the
company is said to be very
pleased with the versatility
of the dual boom platform.
The unit is mounted on
a 3.5 t Mercedes-Benz
Sprinter chassis. Another
VTX-240 delivered in The
Netherlands has been
delivered to the Rotterdam
based crane and access
rental company Doornbos.
This unit is also mounted on
a Sprinter chassis.
Belgium
Rounding out the list, a
VTX-240 has been delivered
to the Belgium airline
Jetairfly. The unit, mounted
on a Nissan Cabstar chassis,
will be used in the airlines
maintenance division
Tec4Jets servicing aircrafts.

VDT with rail drive system
Siemens has taken delivery of a custom Versalift VT-170-FS on a MB Unimog
chassis with a unique road-rail drive system by Zagro.

maintenance contractors.

power pack for streetlight
maintenance in Aalborg.
Siemens has taken delivery
of a unique Versalift VDT-
170-FS on a Unimog U400
chassis with a custom roadrail
drive system by Zagro.
The unit was sold by the
German Versalift distributor
Ruthmann.
Overhead line maintenance
Intended for the
maintenance of overhead
electrical wiring on
railroads, the unit is quite
special and has been
customized on several,
critical details to match
the exact requirements of
Siemens.
Road-rail technology
A unique feature of the unit
is the road-rail drive system
developed in cooperation
with Zagro that fixates the
vehicle onto rails, allowing
the access platform vehicles
to perform maintenance
tasks both on rails and on
the road. TIME International
has 10 years of experience
developing solutions for
road-rail maintenance.
Nyfors Entreprise has taken
delivery of a VT-145-F for
streetlight maintenance in
northern Jutland.

Gilbarco Veeder Root chose
an ETM-38-145 for servicing
electrical installations on
Danish service stations.
Övik Energi from Sweden
has received a Versalift
VDT-170-F from Brubakken
equipped with ADS (Access
Drive System) allowing
operators to drive the
vehicle from the cage.
Highway Hire, a UK based
rental company, has ordered
seven 3.5 t ETM-36-F on
Ford Transits from Versalift
UK. Graham Papierowski,
the Operating Officer of
Highway Hire, cites factors
including competitive prices,
solid service and customer
demands as deciding factors
for choosing Versalift. The
company has taken delivery
of the first three units.
Finally, the infrastructure
maintenance contractor
Eltel received a VT-145-F for
streetlight maintenance.
This is the companys second
VT-145-F.

modern design.
Doubletree Systems, the
Chinese Versalift distributor,
has sold two high voltage
insulated Versalift SST-
40-EIH on Hinowa PT20G
carriers for a chinese client.
The units comply with ANSI
A.92.2 Cat. C protecting users
from current of up to 46 kV.

Israeli power company Israel
Electric Corportation (IEC)
has taken delivery of the
first units from an order of
15 Versalift VO-355-XMHI E80
from the exclusive Israeli
Versalift distributor David
Czapnik & Sons. The units
are mounted on 6x6 MAN
chassis and fitted with a 7.6
metre (25 ft.) hydraulic lift
elevator.
Developed for arborist
applications, a new cage
divider is now available
for steel cages providing a
protective enclosure for the
platform operator in the
cage.
The cage shield is
attachable for easy storage
in the van or workshop and
is quickly installed in the
middle of the cage using
sliding brackets.

New 14 metre ETL
The ETL-38-140-F is the best ever Versalift ETL model with a working height of
up to 14.0 metres, an outreach of up to 8.7 metres and a capacity of 230 kg.

Smart ETMs
The bestselling series of
light range access platforms,
the ETL (Euro Telescopic
Light) has been expanded
with the introduction of the
Versalift ETL-38 available
for both Mercedes-Benz
Sprinter and Renault Master
vans. A 140° articulating
flyboom is standard.
Full outreach on Renault
The unit boasts a working
height of up to 14.0 metres
and an impressive max
outreach of 8.0 metres
on the Mercedes and the
full outreach of 8.7 metres
on the Renault due to a
significantly wider outrigger
spread. The cage capacity
is 230 kg and the outreach
is variable using the LMC
control system. Despite the
added weight of the bigger
boom, the ETL-38 still has
adequate leftover payload.

sets of A-frame outriggers
Redesigned lower controls
The full hydraulic lower
control panel is redesigned,
significantly smaller and
now located closer to the
ground for easier ground
level operation. The rear
steps to the cage have
likewise been redesigned
while the overall weight and
the leftover payload is left
unaffected of the changes
leaving plenty of weight for
a cabinet on the flatbed,
cargo and tools.
“This order for our first
telescopic van mounts slots
right into our range in terms
of both product offering
and rental rate, supporting
our ethos to let customers
choose what best suits
them rather than one size
fits all. This is also our first
experience of Versalift and
the whole process from
evaluation to delivery has
been seamless”, says Andy
Burt, Managing Director of
Smart Platforms.

Bauma 2016
Looking back, Bauma 2016 was another success. The big product news displayed on the TIME stand were
Euro 6 upgrades to the ETL and ETM series, LMC controls, new control panels and an upgraded VTX-240.

The 2016 installment of
Bauma was yet another
success for TIME and
Versalift.
Strong lineup
Euro 6 was the theme of
the TIME Versalift stand as
several Euro 6 upgraded ETL
and ETMs were on display
showcasing a new and safer
design with emergency
operation from ground
level at the pedestal rather
than the turret. Another
new upgrade was the LMC
control system providing
additional outreach and
new, standardized control
panels making it easier for
operators to switch between
models.
Legal driving with Versalift
The unique 3.5 t Versalift
VTX-240 with two telescopic
booms was also optimized
for Euro 6. On Bauma, a
demo unit was displayed
on a digital scale to show
visitors that it still has
sufficient leftover payload to
remain in the 3.5 t GVW class
despite the heavier engine
of the Euro 6 Mercedes-
Benz Sprinter chassis. The
VTX was by far the biggest
conversation topic on the
stand, and the demo unit
was always up in the air
highlighting the unique
possibilities provided by the
two telescopic booms.

20,000 th van mount celebrated at Bauma
The handover of the 20,000 th van mounted Versalift access platform to German street lighting specialist
Swarco was celebrated at Bauma.

Versalift access platforms
has now surpassed 20,000
units as mentioned in
the last edition of TIME
World News. The milestone
20,000 th unit, a Versalift ETM-
38-145-F, has been delivered
to the street lighting
component manufacturer
Swarco and the official
handover was marked at
this years Bauma in Munich.
The Managing Director of
Swarco, Raimund Scheulen,
attended the handover that
brings the total Versalift
fleet of Swarco up to 27
units.The unit was sold by
Ruthmann.
Market leader
With 20,000 sold units,
Versalift is the world’s
bestselling brand of van
mounted access platforms.
The total sale of access
platforms - regardless
of mount type - exceeds
100,000.
Bauma by the numbers
Bauma 2016 saw a 9% rise in attendance as more than 580,000 visitors from 58
countries visited the exhibition making it the largest ever installment.

The hotdog van has
become quite the spectacle
at Bauma, and the rise
in general attendance
correlates well with the
consumption of hotdogs.
During Bauma 2016, more
than 1,000 hotdogs and 400
cans of Cocio chocolate
milk were consumed by
visitors from more than 25
different countries from
all continents of the world
(Antarctica excluded).

exhibited on the fair were
mounted on 3.5 t vehicles
including 3 van mounted
ETLs with working heights of
11, 12.5 and 14 metres - all
on Renaults.

The recently appointed
Spanish and Portuguese
Versalift distributor, Versalift
Ibérica, presented a series
of lightweight Versalifts -
two van mounts ETLs and a
truck mounted VTX-240 - at
Matelec in Madrid. Matelec
is an international trade
fair for the electrical and
electronics industry.
Versalift UK presented a full
lineup of access platforms,
including several units from
the new and improved ETL
series for Euro 6, at the
Vertikal Days exhibition.
Attendance was solid
despite the glooming skies
that occupied the airspace,
although the exhibition
came to an early halt on
the final day when England
played Wales in the Euro
2016 soccer tournament.
This year’s edition marked
the last time the exhibition
was held at Haydock Park
as the famed Silverstone
formula 1 track will host
next year’s installment.
Brubakken AS, the
Norwegian Versalift
distributor, presented a
Versalift ETM-38-145-F on a
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van
at Eliaden 2016. Eliaden is
the largest Norwegian trade
show for the power supply
industry and hosted every
second year in Lillestrom,
Norway.
