NEW LAWS FOR THE TRUE 

CALIFORNIAN 

A 2016 law tells us just how far backwards 

some states still are. New Hampshire has 

finally banned bestiality, who knew this was 

still a thing in New Hampshire that needed 

to be banned. Here are some new California 

laws for 2016 

Cow fart ban: (SB 1383) Requires the state 

to cut methane emissions from dairy cows 

and other animals by 40% by 2030.

TRUMP IS A TRAITOR : SLOGANS AND GRAPHICS 

FOR THE TRUMP CROWNING 

Yes Trump is a Traitor in his open support and 

love affair with Vladimer Putin after Putin has 

been identified as directly involved in the hacking 

of U.S. political sites. Republican Senator, John 

McCain has stated that this is an act of war. 

Trumps continued support of Putin would put 

him in the category of traitor supporting a foreign 

country, hostile to the United States in attempting 

to meddle in a presidential election and other 

internal affairs. 

However, the Trump transition is moving toward 

the inauguration. At this time he has put forward 

an unbelievable list of grossly unqualified individuals 

a mix of Wall Street insiders, corporate 

cronies, white supremacists, sexists, racists and 

an ongoing descriptive list of really dangerous 

and negative individuals for a democratic society. 

Artists and designers have a responsibility to be 

politically active and contribute to the political 

landscape and should be making statements 

regarding the current political scene. 

Looking at the current list of nominees Trump 

has put forward, Big Oil crony, CEO of Exon/ 

Mobile, Rex Tillerson as nominee for Secretary 

of State. Tillerson has specialized in supporting 

dictators and human rights abusers form Guinea 

to Kazakhstan. His closest ties have been with 

Russia. After Exon/Mobile gave billions of dollars 

of oil deals to Russia, Putin gave Tillerson the 

award of Russia’s Order of Friendship, one of 

Russia’s highest honors granted to a foreigner. 

Current sanctions on Russia and now upcoming 

Senate hearings regarding the cyber war Russia 

has initiated puts 

Tillerson in a very questionable power position as 

Secretary of State and also former CEO of Exon to 

be granting favors to a now declared enemy country. 

What would a logo look like for his position 

as Secretary of State? One suggestion is displayed 

in this article. 

Scott Pruitt has been nominated for Administrator 

of the EPA. The Environmental Protection 

Agency of which he has been attempting to 

destroy over the past 8 years in his position as 

Oklahoma Attorney General and a shill for the 

fossil fuel industry. He has repeatedly attacked 

the Clean Power Plan and Clean Water Rule. 

What slogan or logo would best fit Mr. Pruitt as 

EPA Administrator!??? 

Jeff Sessions nominated as Attorney General a 

known racist who could not qualify for a Federal 

judgeship by a Republican judiciary Committee 

in 1986. Has a history of joking about support 

of the Ku Klux Klan and calling the ACLU and 

NAACP un-American. He has been anti women 

rights, and has stated that “I don’t characterize” 

grabbing women by their genitals as “sexual 

assault”. What would be a slogan or logo for office 

of Attorney General with this guy in that office

Patrol to develop education guidelines in 

a way that ensures the safety of motorcyclists, 

drivers and passengers. Not actually 

a law change WTF? 

Higher vehicle registration fee: SB 838 

increases the vehicle registration fee on 

every vehicle or trailer coach from $43 to 

$53 beginning April 1. 

Minimum minimum wage hike: California’s 

minimum wage will increase from $10 

an hour to $10.50 an hour for businesses 

with 26 or more employees under SB 3. It 

will gradually increase to $15 an hour in 

2022. The law delays increase by one year 

for smaller employers. This is a gross gain 

of $1040.00 or $40.00 a year after taxes. 

Closing Assault weapons loopholes that 

shitty manufactures abused: Voters passed 

a law that requires Californians who own 

gun magazines with more than 10 rounds 

to give them up starting Jan. 1. Buyers 

must undergo a background check before 

buying ammunition and will be barred 

from buying new weapons that have a bullet 

button, which were developed by gun 

manufacturers to get around the state’s 

assault weapons ban. A bullet button allows 

a shooter to quickly dislodge the magazine 

using the tip of a bullet. 

Law enforcement officers’ handgun 

storage: Law enforcement officers will be 

required to follow the same rules as civilians 

by securely storing handguns in a lock 

box out of plain view or in the trunk if

Sexual assault loophole clarification: Sexually 

assaulting an unconscious or severely

alcohol includes spirits, liquor, wine,

Drinking and haircuts: Beginning Jan. 1, 

you can get as drunk as your barber usually 

is. Beauty salons and barber shops will be 

allowed to serve free wine or beer to their 

clients until 10 p.m. A hairy situation for 

super-bad cuts. 

Businesses and EpiPens: Under AB 1386, 

businesses can stock EpiPens in case there 

is a need to treat people suffering from 

life-threatening allergic reactions. The law 

allows pharmacies to give the devices to 

colleges, private businesses and other

Right-to-die: Terminally ill patients in California 

will be allowed to use experimental

Gender-neutral bathrooms: Beginning 

March 1, AB 1732 requires that all single-user 

toilet facilities in any business or public place 

to be all-gender facilities. Thank you Thomi

Homeless students at community college: 

Any community college campus with shower 

facilities on campus must allow homeless 

students who are enrolled, paid and in good 

standing to use the facilities, under AB 1995. 

Another law, AB 1747, requires public and 

private institutions that offer food services to 

apply for a state-funded program that provides 

food for homeless students. 

Youth sports health protocol: Just like a 

previous law aimed at protecting high school 

student-athletes who may have suffered head 

injuries, youth sports organizations will be 

required to notify the parents or guardians 

of athletes younger than 17 years old who 

have been removed from activity because 

of a suspected concussion. It also requires 

athletic organizations to offer concussion 

and head injury education to coaches and 

administrators on a yearly basis. The organizations 

would also have to comply with 

athlete removal provisions and return-to-play 

protocol. 

Human trafficking: People under 18 years 

old cannot be charged with prostitution, 

under SB 1322. Instead, they will be treated 

as victims. This is one of several human-trafficking 

bills that include raising the age children 

can testify outside a courtroom from 13 

to 15, protecting the victims’ names from disclosure 

and mandating that they have access 

to county services. 

But some laws are just meant to be.

shall proceed until the other has passed.

In Alaska, for example it’s illegal to wake a

Oklahoma it is illegal to wrestle a bear. In 

Arizona, it’s illegal for donkeys to sleep in 

bathtubs I presume yours or their own even. 

But South Carolina, it’s horses that may not 

be kept in bathtubs. These laws have been in 

the books for some time. 

Finally. A 2016 law tells us just how far backwards 

some states still are. New Hampshire

The world can be a thing of beauty. As 

I walk through life, I come across a rose 

garden. A large impressive show of beauty 

with its stems growing in a dance like 

rhythm, allowing each rose to display its 

own individual beauty. As I look close, I 

can see this one rose grab my attention. 

It is diseased and has an evil, discolored 

vibe to it. It’s a younger rose, all ravished 

with evil diseased thorns. You would 

notice it from a short distance, as the 

smell is pungent and foul. Even through 

the huge pile of fertilizer surrounding its 

toxicity, it spews a hateful fragrant. This 

rose hides from momentous moments 

like rain showers and likes being a stinking 

rose. Well the odor this rose spews is 

incredible. It must have been sprayed a 

lot with pesticides. 

So, it’s time to get the ax Christina and 

chop it down. It’s not a loss; it only 

has five costumes and ten songs in its 

repertoire. Accidentally, in my old age, 

stepped on the stinking rose and I killed 

it. I mean I didn’t want it to die or anything, 

like Mr. Karp. It’s only improvisation. 

It just got in my way. I’m glad 

it did. It was the most undesirable evil 

mutant rose and unfortunately, it had to 

be hacked down. We need to eliminate 

all toxic beings and stop them from 

destroying the good we try to create. The 

world is mostly a negative pit of mutant 

flower gardens with huge thorns. Make 

your garden a peaceful space and watch 

out for the dead leaves bringing the rest 

of your garden down. Let your happiness 

power through the weeds, into the sunlight, 

and grow up!!!!

THE LAST WORD by Greg Pettis 

Well the New Year has begun. What shall 

we look forward too? A year of promise or 

fear? Maybe both? 

Interest rates are beginning to rise, signaling 

the Fed feels the economy has stabilized and 

needs less correction. 

Obama retaliated against the Russians for 

hacking and meddling in our elections. 

Trump says just “Get over it”. Hmmm. 

Trump names a major anti-China player 

as his Trade Representative. Looks like his 

campaign rhetoric on this point was real. 

Not sure I want to pay higher prices to fulfill 

his bluster. 

The cabinet continues to look like the old 

white boy’s club but there are still a couple 

spots open. We shall see. 

Locally we lost a good man far too early 

with the death of County Supervisor John 

Benoit. He and I didn’t always agree, but 

he showed he cared. He was active and 

involved until the end. His staff was bipartisan 

and had both gay and straight members. 

He was passionate on transportation policy 

and housing opportunities for lower income 

people. 

John also was the leading factor that finally 

corrected the damaging flooding in Cathedral 

City in the area by the Auto Center. 

His predecessors talked about, John did 

something. 

We all know I am a Democrat and a progressive, 

but I was proud to have endorsed 

John in his last election campaign. He was 

the public Servant that crossed party lines 

and wanted to do what was best for the residents 

of the 4th District. The Governor will 

Boose his successor. Let’s hope he chooses 

wisely. 

Speaking of housing, Cathedral City is 

working on a new lower income housing 

development that will be targeted at veterans. 

This will be the first in the valley, to my 

knowledge. Many of our vets, whether from 

Vietnam or more recent conflicts get lost in 

the system and find themselves unemployed 

and without shelter. We are hoping that this 

project will not only provide housing, but 

needed social services to make sure the vet 

can get the help they need. 

What are your goals for the New Year? 

I continue to work on my weight. I’ve 

dropped 30lbs so far, feeling better, but anxious 

to see if I can continue to drop. I’ll let 

you know about Easter.
