WINTER CELEBRATION
It’s cold. The days are short. The trees are bare. You can
barely move for all the layers you’re wearing to keep out
the chill. Wouldn’t it just be easier to hunker down at
home until Spring?
But Winter in the Highlands can be one of the loveliest
seasons with so many joys to be experienced. The
sharp clarity of the light, the crispness of the air, the
simple pleasure of coming in from the cold to warm
yourself in front of a blazing fire. And of course, there’s
Bundanoon’s Winterfest.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, a child or a child at
heart, this year’s Winterfest program will surely have
something for you to enjoy.
There’s the opening night party—a family friendly,
community get together—with music and dancing,
hearty food and warming drinks, and plenty of fun stuff
for all ages. And perhaps even a dusting of snow!
We have a week-long program packed with activities,
including cooking and fitness classes, special film
screenings, nature talks, craft and art workshops—and
even a visit from Taronga Zoo’s Zoomobile.
So, come on. Get out of the house, make some new
friends, learn something new and enjoy the season at
Bundanoon Winterfest 2018.

Winterfest is a much-loved event in our
community’s calendar, but it wouldn’t happen

The Bundanoon Community Association would like

On Saturday 7 July Bundanoon’s
week-long celebration of Winter
kicks-off with the Opening Night
Street Party. The main street will
come alive with music and lights
for a night of great music, delicious
food and drink, and plenty of
entertainment for the whole family.
The fun starts at 5pm.
We’re asking for a gold coin
donation on entry to help us stage
an even better Winterfest next
year. In return you’ll get a ticket in
our lucky door prize draw—with
a pool of prizes contributed by
many of the businesses who have
supported us this year.
Local singer-songwriter Angus
Murray will get our party started,
performing his crowd-pleasing
set—a combination of his own
beautiful songs and a lively
selection of old favourites.
A little later, Bundanoon local
Lachlan Grant (aka Lo-ki)—wellknown
for his prodigious red
beard—will energise the crowd
with his signature fusion of vintage
sounds and modern bass music. It’s
guaranteed to get everyone tapping
their toes.
Then high-energy Illawarra natives,
19Twenty, will make a welcome
return to Bundanoon Winterfest.
The boys will bring their infectious
blend of raucous blues and roots
to the Winterfest stage, getting
everyone on their feet to close the
opening night on a high note.

of art by members of the Men’s
Shed and entries in the Arthead art
competition. Entry to both of these
events is by gold coin donation.
If you have any energy or appetite
left after all that, then head over to
the Old Bicycle Shop Cafe where
local luminary Les Rundle and his
friends will entertain the late-night
crowd with charming and funny
renditions of traditional and folk
songs.
On Sunday morning Bundanoon’s
cafes will all be offering a
‘Survivor’s Breakfast’ option for
those who may be feeling perhaps
a bit worse for wear after Saturday
night’s shenanigans! For just $10
you can enjoy a special breakfast

Our extensive workshop and event program has
something for everyone this year: for food lovers and
crafters; for active kids and creative ones; for the young

Established in 2001, KELA Building Group is

Give an old gadget a new life as you take it apart, discover the inner
workings and then use the bits to create a new object: sculptural,

Lions is a community of hands-on volunteers,
found in more places than any other service
organisation in the world. We are one of the
most effective service club organisations. We
get the job done. Lions Clubs are well known
across the globe for successful initiatives in
saving and improving sight, and are generally
the fi rst on the ground helping victims of natural
disasters.
Bundanoon Lions has been involved with
Winterfest from the very beginning. The funds
we raise from our justly famous sausage sizzle
and Gluhwein stalls are put to work improving
the local community, as well as contributing to
international projects.
