Charity Varsity Series
The Nottingham Universities Charity Varsity Series is one of the
country’s most competitive and popular university sport events,
where NTU and the University of Nottingham compete across a
range of sports. Many of the sports include both men’s and
women’s fixtures.
We hire out Nottingham’s premier sporting
venues to showcase the matches, which attract
huge, passionate crowds to cheer on their
respective universities. Venues include Notts
County FC’s Meadow Lane stadium for the
football and rugby and the National Ice Centre
for the ice hockey – which always attracts a
capacity crowd of almost 7,000 spectators.
The 2012 series included:
• Swimming
• Rugby league
• Ice hockey
• Football
• Netball
• Basketball
• Rugby union
• Hockey
• Cricket
• Lacrosse
Many of the events are supported by each
University’s cheerleading squad, which provides
eye-catching stunts, routines and choreography.
Charity
The Varsity Series is a great occasion for both
players and fans, but we also raise money for
the year’s nominated charity.
Past charities include CRY (Cardiac Risk in the
Young), PASIC (Parents’ Association for
Seriously Ill Children) and Balls to Poverty.
In 2012, over £15,000 was raised for the
