Baggrund i forskning • Bright light in the early morning results in an immediate increase of cortisol (Leproult et al.2001), whereas afternoon bright light does not have this effect on the cortisol production (Leproult et al. 2001, Rüger 2005). • A temporary increase of light levels, and/or an increase of the direct component, can raise vigilance and thus enhance work performance (Fleischer 2001). • White light with a strong blue component (high colour temperature) increases mental activity and activates the autonomic nervous function (Deguchi and Sato 1992, Mukae and Sato 1992). • Exposure to blue-enriched white light during daytime workhours improves subjective alertness and performance (Viola et al. 2008). • Warm white light facilitates relaxation (Noguchi and Sakaguchi 1999). • Daytime bright light can reduce sleepiness and fatigue even though melatonin is virtually absent and core body temperature is nearly constant (Rüger 2005). • Exposure to bright light during the daytime enhances nocturnal melatonin levels (Park and Tokura 1999) • Exposure to cool white light during daytime improves evening fatigue (Viola et al. 2008).
