<strong>Employer</strong> brand equity<br />

For at opnå en yderligere forståelse for employer branding inddrager<br />

Backhaus og Tikoo (2004: 504) begrebet employer brand equity. Begrebet har<br />

sin oprindelse i Aakers marketingbaserede begreb brand equity, der defineres<br />

således:<br />

”..a set of brand assets and liabilities linked to a brand that add to or<br />

subtract from the value provided by a product or service to a firm<br />

and/or that firm’s customers.”<br />

(Aaker, 1996: 7)<br />

Sagt med andre ord relaterer forbrugerorienteret brand equity til de<br />

associationer, som forbrugeren har til et givent brand og den værdi,<br />

forbrugeren tilskriver produktet. Backhaus og Tikoo (2004) har overført dette<br />

begreb til employer branding teorien og definerer employer brand equity som<br />

følgende:<br />

”<strong>Employer</strong> brand equity is the desired outcome of employer brand<br />

activities. In other words, potential or existing employees will react<br />

differently to similar recruitment, selection, and retention efforts from<br />

different firms because of the underlying employer brand equity<br />

associated with these firms.”<br />

(Backhaus & Tikoo, 2004: 504)<br />

Backhaus og Tikoo (2004) fremhæver hermed, at employer branding vil have<br />

forskellig effekt på medarbejdere og jobsøgende, eftersom alle har forskellige<br />

individuelle opfattelser <strong>af</strong> virksomheden som arbejdsplads.
