■ Narsaq Museum is a local
museum renowned for
going in new directions
without forsaking the traditional
focus on the rich Inuit
and Norse history of South
Greenland. The museum
accommodates both a cultural
and an environmental
house and the newest attraction
for guests is an
introduction to the history
of dress. The exhibition is
continually updated and this
year the focus is on Mette
Kristensen and the Rita and
Nickie Isaksen duo. Common
to all of them is their Greenlandic
background and
approach – combined with
a wide range of craftsman’s
skills and innovative designs
using sealskin in many different
contexts. Their clothes
are beautiful, functional and
comfortable – and they believe
sustainability is important.
