Multiple scatterinq of gamma rays on ferromagnetic plates
Abstract
If nuclear gamma rays are scattered on a magnetized metal
plate, the intensities from double and tripIe scattering
depend on the magnetization. This effect arises mainly from
Faraday rotation of the photon polarization plane in the
target. Its size was calculated with a computer for some
photon energies and scattering angles. The results are
needed as corrections in experimental investigations of the
left-right asymmetry in Compton scattering.
