Ablauf eines Einsatzes in Kampong Cham /O Reang Ov
Course of a mission in Kampong Cham / O Reang Ov
Die Teams aus Deutschland, der Schweiz
und Frankreich bestehen meist aus drei
spezialisierten Chirurgen, einem Anästhesisten,
einer OP-Schwester und einem
Koordinator. Sie nehmen sich Urlaub für
diesen zweiwöchigen Einsatz.
Die Patienten hören von den hoch spezialisierten,
kostenlosen Operationen der
Aktion Lächeln im Radio. Fast alle Patienten,
denen Ärzte der Welt hilft, haben
kein Geld für medizinische Behandlung.
Das Team muss den kleinen Patienten
oft die Angst nehmen. Durch die jahrelange
Erfahrung der Teams und mithilfe
gespendeter Stofftiere als Geschenke
gewinnt man schnell das Vertrauen der
Kinder. Die Operationen werden zusammen
mit einheimischen Kollegen besprochen
und durchgeführt, es werden
Vorlesungen gehalten. Manchmal fällt
der Generator aus und der OP-Saal ist
ohne Strom. Die Chirurgen operieren
dann mit einer Batterie-Stirnlampe weiter,
bis das Problem behoben ist. Jeder
operative Eingriff wird genau dokumentiert.
The teams from Germany, Switzerland
and France comprise about three
specialized surgeons, an anesthetist, a
surgical nurse and a coordinator. They
use their own holiday time for this
two-week mission. Patients hear about
the gratis Opération Sourire operations
by a highly specialized team on the
radio. Almost all patients treated by
Médecins du Monde Germany have no
money for medical treatment. The team
must often calm the fears of smaller
patients. Years of experience within the
teams and soft toys donated as
gifts quickly win the children’s trust.
The operations are discussed and
carried out with local colleagues; lectures
are also given. Sometimes a generator
fails and the operating room is without
electricity. The surgeons continue to
operate with a battery operated headlamp
until repairs have been undertaken.
Every operation is exactly documented.
