Blutenmitte abgewandter Buckel; Epichil sackartig,<br />
seitlich zusammengedruckt, 14 mm lang, 9 mm tief,<br />
an der Basis 4 mm breil; Seiten des Epichils schlieBen<br />
den aufragenden 5 mm hohen, 3,5 mm langen,<br />
1,5 mm breilen Kallus ein; Ende des Epichils zugespitzt,<br />
abwiirls gewandl; 2 feste, wachsartige, gelbe,<br />
keulenf6rmige Pollinien 3,5 mm x 0,5 mm; Stipes und<br />
Viscidium 3,0 mm x 0,5 mm; Anthere 5 mm lang,<br />
2,5 mm breit. Blutenfarbe variabel von stark dunkelrotpurpur<br />
bis leuchtend gelb intensiv rotpurpur gepunktet.<br />
Frucht eine 14 cm lange Kapsel , die noch bestehende<br />
Siiule mit eingeschlossen, 2 cm 0 , schmutzig<br />
purpurbraun mit winzigen, staubfeinell Samen.<br />

Plant typical for the genus, to 50 ern k'lll; rnizome short, pseudobulbs<br />
OVOid, 8 ct tall a d 4 em wide, 7-9 ribbed, 2foliale,<br />
covered at the base by 3-4 chartaceous, nonfoliaceous<br />
sheaths to 9 em long; leaves indistinclly petiolate, petiole to<br />
10 cm long; blade to 26 em long, 7 cm Wide, aCUminate, light<br />
green, with 3 prominent velns on the underside; inflorescence<br />
produced from base of the pseudobulb, pendent, to 1S cm<br />
long. 3- to 12flowered, rachis angula r, Winged, to 4 mm wide,<br />
dark red-brown: bracts sub tending no ers 5 mm long, 3 mm<br />
wide. Flowers large for genus: ovary and pedicel terete, 52 mm<br />
long,2 mm in diameter; dorsal sepal 22 mm long, 14 mm wide,<br />
convex with revolute margins, lateral sepals 33 mm long,<br />
22 mill wide, strongly convex at base to accomodate hypochilar<br />
hams; petals adnate to column for most of length, free<br />
portion 11 mm long, 2 mm wide, sigmoid; column curved,<br />
broadest just below apex, 25 mm long, 7 mm wide near apex,<br />
4 mm wide at base; column foot 8 mm long; lip claw abserlip<br />
conspicuously divided into hypocnile and epichile; tot<br />
length 27 mm; hypochile broad and flattened at base, sligh<br />
concave on abaxial side, bearing a pair of flattened , adaxia<br />
curving, triangular (90 degree) horns; hypochile 15 mm lo n ~<br />
