Access to this study program is given by the General Higher Education Entrance Qualification (HEEQ, Allgemeine<br />
Hochschulreife, Abitur) after 12 or 13 years of schooling, or specialized variants (Fachgebundene Hochschulreife),<br />
or foreign equivalents.<br />

4.2 Programme Requirements/Qualification Profile of the Graduate<br />
In the Bachelor-programme of philosophy students will obtain an overview on the main philosophical disciplines<br />
and their history, study selected theories within these disciplines, maintain the ability to analyse complex problems,<br />
achieve preciseness in thinking and expression, learn to see the coherence in philosophical systems and<br />
their dependence on presumptions and learn to interpret historical sources in a critical way.<br />
With the B.A. students obtain a qualification for the job market and the opportunity to follow a masters-programme<br />
in philosophy.<br />
Professionialization Area<br />
4.2.1 General Goals<br />
In general:The professionalization area studies are meant to convey basic academic abilities to profit from subject-oriented<br />
and interdisciplinary academic teaching and to develop job-related qualifications and profiles, which<br />
allow for both immediate entry into the job market on graduation as well as further studies in M.A. courses in related<br />
areas.<br />
◦ B.A. with the goal of becoming a teacher: Studies in the professionalization area in this case would fulfill the<br />
requirements of preparation for the M.Ed as required by teacher licensing laws.<br />
4.2.2 Structure and subject content<br />
Professionalization area studies include educational theory and other content taught interdisciplinarily and aimed<br />
toward the achievement of competencies. Both theoretical and practical courses are offered.<br />

◦ B.A. with the goal of becoming a teacher: In professional area studies the following competencies are to be<br />
achieved, as set forth by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education(KMK):<br />
