Bereits zum 19. Mal findet die jährliche International<br />
Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology<br />
(ISMB) der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Computational<br />
Biology (ISCB) vom 17.-19. Juli 2011 in Wien statt. Bei<br />
der Tagung handelt es sich um die weltweit bedeutendste<br />
Tagung zur Computational Biology. Die Tagung findet<br />
in Kombination mit der 10th European Conference on<br />
Computational Biology (ECCB) statt und führt Wissenschaftler<br />
aus den Bereichen der Computerwissenschaften,<br />
Molekularbiologie, Mathematik und Statistik sowie<br />
deren angrenzenden Fachgebieten zusammen. Der Fokus<br />
der Tagung liegt auf der Entwicklung und Anwendung<br />
von fortgeschrittenen computertechnischen Methoden<br />
auf biologische Fragestellungen.<br />

International Workshop<br />
“Systems Biology of Microbial Infection”<br />
Jena, 22-23 September 2011<br />
The Workshop will have its focus on data and knowledge based modelling<br />
and model-driven analysis of fungal and bacterial infection processes.<br />
Systems biology of infection, as in the Workshop’s focus, aims<br />
to understand the interaction of the host, in particular the immune<br />
system of the human or animal, with components of in particular bacterial<br />
or fungal pathogens by integrative analysis of genome-wide and<br />
spatio-temporal data from both the host and the pathogen. The aim is<br />
to computationally represent the main mechanisms of pathogenicity,<br />
to identify diagnostic biomarkers and potential drug targets and to<br />
explore novel strategies for personalized therapy.<br />
The Workshop is organized by PD Dr Reinhard Guthke and Prof Dr Marc<br />
Thilo Figge from the Systems Biology Groups of the Leibniz Institute for<br />
Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute<br />
together with BioControl Jena GmbH.<br />

International Workshop Systems Biology of<br />
Microbial Infection<br />
22.-23. September 2011, Jena<br />
Zum neunten Mal in Folge wird am 22.-23. September<br />
der internationale Workshop zum Thema „<strong>Systembiologie</strong><br />
bei mikrobiellen Infektionen“ vom Leibniz-<br />
Institut für Naturstoffforschung und Infektionsbiologie<br />
– Hans-Knöll-Institut in Jena stattfinden. Die diesjährige<br />
Veranstaltung wird sich den Themenfeldern Data and<br />
Knowledge-based Modeling und Model-driven Analysis of Mi-<br />
crobial Infection Processes widmen, um die Interaktion des Wirts mit dem<br />
Pathogen und insbesondere die Rolle des menschlichen bzw. tierischen<br />
Immunsystems im Rahmen der Pathogenese besser zu verstehen. <strong>Das</strong><br />
übergreifende Ziel ist, Wirt-Pathogen-Interaktionen künftig mithilfe<br />
eines räumlich-zeitlichen Modellierungsprozesses so detailliert zu be-<br />
