Having your applications update these register values will make it easy to determine
which application component or interface is responsible for the SQL statement. Then
the application developer can tweak or tune the slow-running SQL statement.
You can access tools to perform more in-depth analysis by right-clicking on the SQL
statement text pane (see Figure 4).The Visual Explain task will let you see if a poor
query plan is causing those end user calls. The Visual Explain tool also provides index
advice and returns details on the associated program object and server configuration.

The Work with SQL Statement function will launch a Run SQL Scripts window that
shows the current SQL statement. This script window makes it easier to view long SQL
statements and gives you an opportunity to rerun the SQL statement yourself.
With these new and enhanced tools in System i Navigator, you and your team
should be much better equipped to pinpoint DB2 for i performance issues that are
affecting your users.
