An important, half-pearl-set gold enamel pocket watch of museumquality with duplex pin wheel escapement for the Chinese marketwith original leather presentation box with floral punches, pedestalCase: 18k gold, round, back cover lavishly engine-turned and with translucentcobalt blue enamelling. Central pearl-set flower with border ofdiamond-set leaves and intermediate pearls, pearl border. Back and frontouter borders, pendant and bow are set with half-pearls. Dial: enamel,radial Roman numerals, centre seconds, arrow-shaped gold hands.Movm.: bridge movement, lavishly florally engraved, frosted, gilt,keywind, blued screws, lavishly florally engraved going barrel, duplex pinwheel escapement, five-arm steel balance, engraved regulator scale.William AnthonyWilliam Anthony (1765-1844) worked in Red Lion Street, St. John’sSquare, Clerkenwell, and specialised in watches for the Chinese market.Source: “Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World”, by G.H.
