UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) and ICE Key Attributes

The UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) describes the competences required to become an

Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng). It details the requirements that

have to be met in order to gain these qualifications, and explains the steps necessary to achieve professional registration with

the Engineering Council. ICE Training offers training courses that have been mapped to UK-SPEC and the ICE Key Attributes.

Attendance on these courses can contribute to your demonstration of Initial Professional Development (IPD) competence.

Technical Report and Business Writing

eLearning course

Reports are essential to the development of a business:

projects are bid for, initiated, monitored and closed by those

reading reports designed to inform a decision best for the

business. A good report will not only contain all the facts

and figures required for that decision but must be presented

with the reader in mind; how you commit your facts and

figures to paper has as strong an impact as those facts and

figures themselves.

This training course is designed to give those who are tasked

with turning their technical knowledge and expertise into

reports used for business planning the knowledge and skills

they need.

Understanding your audience is never more important than

when writing for them; get the structure, messaging and

presentation right and the reader will be engaged from the

first word.

This 4 hour eLearning course is delivered through 8

succinct modules.

Tutor profile:

Jacqueline Bendall

Jacqueline is an experienced trainer,

coach and facilitator specialising in

business communication skills.

Jakki has delivered workshops, seminars

and coaching on all aspects of writing and

presenting in a business environment, including

report writing, commercial bid writing,

developing a business case and essential

presentation skills.

Our History

ICE was founded in 1818 by a small group

of idealistic young men. We were granted

a royal charter in 1828 where we declared

that our aim was to “foster and promote

the art and science of civil engineering”.

That is still our aim today. Now the number

of members has grown, and ICE represents

around 80,000 members worldwide.
