Ein Telefongespräch mit meiner
Mutter in Sambia
Daniel – Hallo...Ha... Hallo Mama.
Mutter – Hallo, mein Sohn, wie geht es dir und deiner
Gastfamilie?
D. – Gut! Es geht allen hier sehr gut. Und wie geht es
Euch, zu Hause?
M. – Alle sind okay. Viele Grüße von deinen Freunden
hier.
D. – Danke, bitte grüße alle zurück, ich freue mich,
das zu hören.
M. – Bitte erzähle mir jetzt mehr von dir, Lieber.
D. – Ach Mama, das Leben hier ist nicht nur okay, es
ist einfach großartig. Ich mache so viel und lerne eine
Menge dazu. Ich hoffe, dass du genug Zeit hast, mir
zuzuhören.
M. – Dann fang mal an, mein Lieber.
D. – Es ist so viel passiert, seit wir das letzte Mal
gesprochen haben. Aber das Leben hier ist immer noch
gut und das Wetter immer noch kalt. Meine Haare
A call with my mother in Zambia
Daniel - Hallo …Ha….Hallo mum
Mother - Hallo my son, how are you and how is your
host family?
D. – Well! Everyone is okay here , How is everyone
back home?
M. – Everyone is okay, Many greetings from your
friends here.
D. – Thank you very, my regards to all . That’s nice to
hear mum.
M. – Tell me more about yourself now my dear.
D. – Well mum life is not okay, its great. I am doing
and learning so much, I hope you have some time to
listen.
M. – Go on my dear.
D. – So much has happened and changed since the
last time we talked, but life is still good. The weather is
still cold and my hair is still long and coiled. My work
is okay apart from waking up early in the morning
sometimes. My German has not improved as
fast as I thought, I think I still need a lot of
time just to work on it, but now let me tell you
some of the things I have.
I am still learning how to play the guitar, piano
and swimming
M. – And how are those going?
D. – Well all is okay am improving bit by bit.
M. – That’s nice to hear my dear.
D. – Thank you mum, I also had meeting with
the mayor from my area and it was interesting,
I was not alone, there were others too. We had
a bit of discussing and a lot questioning most
of the time and I had to answer a lot of these
and it was interesting
Let me now tell you more about my Bergfest,
this was to celebrate that I have made it half
way through my year. This was held on the
12 of February, this was all about me and my
stay here, I felt so special. With a few friends
and my family we had a good time under the
shelter of our church in town. We had some
lovely cakes, some coffee, tea and of course
water.
We started with some nice slow music as
people we waited for the invited guests,
when we where all gathered there was a small
introduction, then I made a photo presentation

Meine Arbeit ist
ganz in Ordnung,
nur manchmal
fällt mir das frühe
Aufstehen schwer.
Mein Deutsch wird
nicht so schnell
besser wie ich gehofft
habe, da brauche
ich sicherlich noch
eine Menge Zeit, um
daran zu arbeiten.
Aber lass dir jetzt ein
paar Dinge erzählen,
die aktuell sind.
Ich lerne immer noch
Gitarre und Klavier
spielen. Und dann
habe ich angefangen,
schwimmen zu
lernen in einem
richtigen Kurs.
M. – Und wie ist das?
D. – Es geht Stück für Stück voran.
M. – Das ist schön zu hören, mein Lieber.
D. – Danke Mama. Ich habe auch den Bürgermeister
von Merzenich getroffen, das ist der Ort, in dem ich
wohne. Es war sehr interessant, und ich war nicht
alleine dort, sondern mit drei anderen deutschen
Freiwilligen. Wir diskutierten ein wenig und es
gab eine Menge Fragen, von denen ich die meisten
beantworten musste.
Jetzt möchte ich dir gerne noch von meinem „Bergfest“
erzählen, es markiert die Hälfte meines Jahres hier
in Deutschland. Wir haben es am 12. Februar in
der Marienkirche in Düren gefeiert. Es ging nur um
mich und meinen Aufenthalt hier, und das war ein
ganz besonderes Gefühl. Fast meine ganze deutsche
Familie war da und einige Freunde. Es gab Kuchen,
Kaffee, Tee und natürlich Wasser.
Zunächst hörten wir langsame Musik, bis alle
Gäste angekommen waren. Dann gab es eine kurze
Begrüßung, und ich hatte eine Foto-Präsentation
vorbereitet über mein Leben in Sambia und in
I had prepared. After which I danced something that
looked like Fwemba.
M. – Did you injure your back? Because the last time
you danced your back was in pain.
D. – No mum I was careful this time.
But all in all this day was really so special for me. And
am so grateful to all the people that had helped me in
organizing it. I also had a chance to meet two of the
three girls that will be coming to Zambia this August
M. – Okay what about the two girls that are coming
to Germany. Do you have contact with them, have you
found some guest families for the girls.
D. – Well we are still on the look out for some host
families, but we are hopeful to find nice host families.
I am also in good contact with the girls from Zambia,
they are also very nice girls.
Well mum so much has also happened but it’s too
much to tell you all at the same time and I hope to
call you soon, am sorry that now I have to rush and
prepare for work I don’t have to be late.
M. – Okay my dear all the best and enjoy your self,
many greetings to your family and friends.
