SV Camp

SV Camp 2017 Being an SV member means being a leader. It means putting the needs of the school body before your own, channeling their concerns to the relevant authorities, ensuring their voices are heard. Now this can be a tricky task, especially if you are attempting to do such alone. In order to be a cohesive group, we needed to be able to work together, know one another’s strengths and weaknesses and create ideas that will change the school and the world in turn. A two day camp is exactly what we needed. Our ‘weekend getaway’ began with a two hour bus ride to Wart - hog Inn. We arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and almost instantaneously, that changed. The activities presented to us ranged from those that required brains to those that required brawn and everything in between. Our facilitators were extremely hospitable and welcoming. Sharing their knowledge with us, we had a stupendous time for the entire 48 hours. Listening, laughing and learning, it can easily be said that the camp was a success. Taking this opportunity, on behalf of the entire SV I’d like to thank our magnanimous educators – Frau Greyling and Herr Chepape – for their persistence and continued determination prior to and for the duration of the camp. A famous African proverb says: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” And that’s what we did. Kimberley Taku 66 DSP Jahrbuch 2017 – Schülervertretung (SV)

School SleepOut Heritage Day Integration Day The School SleepOut This year the DSP had the honor of supporting the ShEO SleepOut by hosting its very own, School SleepOut. The aim of the project was the spend one night outdoors in the winter cold, raising empathy and awareness for homelessness as well as donating collec ted items on that night to one of the beneficiaries that houses aban doned babies. Thank you to all the brave souls who rose to the challenge of the School SleepOut initiative. Massive thanks to all our teachers who provided supervision, our former Headboy Ashley Makgatho, fellow School SleepOut Brand Am bassador Jessica Powell and Dario Gouveia, as well as the insane speaker Joel Miruho and our honored guests from Impilo for joining us. Thanks to all your help and dedication, we were able to make and hand out over 120 sandwiches to the homeless, to add to that, Impilo our beneficiary for the School SleepOut, will be receiving a room full of goodies. But it doesn‘t stop there, Sole2Sole, will also be receiving a special gift of a number of shoes from the learners of the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria. And a final thank you to our SV (Prefects), who worked tirelessly to make the event a great success.
