RF & Wireless Inter-Operability Test to Accelerate the Development and Deployment of 5G Networks Keysight Technologies, Inc. announced successful inter-operability testing of Keysight’s User Equipment (UE) Emulation Solution and Samsung’s new 5G base station based on 5G New Radio (NR) standards. „Samsung is a leader in 5G technologies and Keysight is pleased to partner with them on this sub-6 GHz 5G gNB testing,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager, Wireless Device and Operators group, Keysight Technologies. „We will continue to advance our UE Emulation Solution to deliver powerful test capabilities that enable parametric and functional testing of 5G base station equipment.” Keysight and Samsung have agreed to align their plans to enable 5G base station testing and build an ecosystem of interoperable products. „We are pleased to be working with Keysight,“ said Wonil Roh, vice president and head of the Technology Strategy Group, Networks Business, Samsung Electronics. „As one of the world’s leading test and measurement companies, Keysight has delivered a complete end-to-end 5G NR test solution that meets our specific needs, and offers the flexibility to deal with different configurations and test scenarios.“ Combining Samsung’s comprehensive product portfolio with Keysight’s protocol, measurement, simulation and analysis expertise, the two companies are accelerating the development and deployment of 5G networks. “Our new UE Emulation Solution clearly reflects the synergy of Keysight’s recent acquisition of Ixia,” said Giampaolo Tardioli, vice president, Network Access unit, Keysight. The typical curves that follow are representative of commonly requested responses, including both linear and half-sine responses. SWR is dependent on frequency of operation, complexity of equalized response, and bandwidth of response. Power handling is dependent on the physical size of the absorptive elements. Since these elements decrease in size with increasing frequency, power handling by 10 GHz is usually in the hundredths of watts. The power capability of these devices is seldom an issue, since their usage is generally in receive stages or in the low power sections preceding transmit amplifiers. These units are used to compensate for such things as cable or system gain/losses, to gain flatness in amplifiers, and compensate for devices such as couplers and filters which have frequency dependent outputs and allow for compensation to ensure a flat response. ■ RLC Electronics, Inc. www.rlcelectronics.com Absorptive Bessel Filters to 30 GHz RLC Electronics‘ 4th Order Absorptive Bessel Filters provide the excellent group delay response of Bessel filters while maintaining impedance matching far into the stop band. Resistive elements are designed into these filters, resulting in a response that closely mimics the classic Bessel in both amplitude and phase. These filters are used in digital systems where truthful reproduction of waveforms is important. These filters are now available with -3 dB cut off frequencies as high as 30 GHz. RF & Wireless ideal for making Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) or Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) with wireless sensors. Meeting the demand for easy access to sensor data, the new modules rely on a proven, robust and widely deployed protocol, the Wireless M-Bus standard (EN 13757). The protocol is very power efficient and ideal for sensors with an operating lifetime of 10 - 20 years on a single cell battery. The 169 MHz narrowband solution is recently gaining a lot of market traction as it is an optimal solution for Industrial sensor networks, where reliability, robustness and security are of great importance. The RC1180-MSM operates at 868 MHz, and RC1701HP-MSM operates at 169 MHz, an expansion of the RC1180-MBUS3 and RC1701HP-MBUS4 industry proven modules. The new modules offer a dedicated interface for a number of industrial and environmental sensors, such as temperature, humidity and gas. The sensors are carefully selected to enable users to build complete sensor nodes by just adding the sensor, an antenna and a power supply to the compact MSM module. Sensor interfaces supported includes analogue inputs, GPIO, SPI and I 2 C. Constructed using a solid metal alloy resistance element with copper terminations the device provides superior corrosion and heat resistance and has excellent pulse resistance. The AFT31150N is designed for applications operating at frequencies between 2700 and 3100 MHz. It is suitable for use in pulse applications. The new transistor is characterized with series-equivalent largesignal impedance parameters and is internally matched for ease-of-use. It is qualified up to a maximum of 32 V operation, with integrated ESD protection and greater negative gate source voltage range for improved Class C operation. The new device is included in NXP’s product longevity program with assured supply for a minimum of 15 years after launch. The new board is ideal for proof-of-concept of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) with wireless sensors. The new Sensor Boards are new tools to provide easeof-design allowing product developers to easily build prototype networks with real industrial sensors to get as close as possible to the final network configuration with a minimum investment in development time and resources. The Sensor Board supplements the recently introduced compact sensor modules from Radiocrafts. The sensor modules for Sigfox (SSM) and the Wireless M-Bus (MSM) provide direct interfaces for a number of industrial and environmental sensors, such as temperature, humidity and gas. The sensors are carefully selected to enable users to build complete sensor nodes by just adding the sensor, an antenna and a power supply to the compact MSM module.
