Fußball und Volleyball gespielt und viel getanzt. Wir
sind mit einem großen Laster nach Kizito gefahren,
auf dessen Ladefläche wir gestanden und gesessen
haben. Auf dem Rückweg kam ich mir vor wie beim
deutschen Karneval. Alle waren sichtlich guter Laune
und haben auf der Ladefläche gesungen und getanzt.
Anfang April habe ich mich der Reise der anderen
zwei Freiwilligen und der Reisegruppe von Fairreisen
angeschlossen. Die anderen beiden Mädels hatten
Besuch von ihren Familien aus Deutschland. Ich
habe mich gefreut, mich der Reise nach Livingstone
angeschlossen haben zu dürfen. Das war eine tolle
Erfahrung für mich, die ich jedem empfehlen kann.
Wir haben die Victoria Falls besichtigt, und auch
really enjoy working there. Not only the work itself,
but also my workmates are really nice, so that Iwon‘t
leave the department soon.
In February we (Alisha, Jolina and I) went for a
seminar to Dar es Saalam in Tanzania. The seminar
gave us the possibility to reflect the last half year in our
guest country and to meet other German volunteers
from Kenya, Ruanda and Tanzania.
As we have been there we directly used the chance to
make vacation there and in Zanzibar.
I was able to experience many differences between
Tanzania and Zambia, what re-emphasised for me
personally how diverse Africa is.
At the 8th of March I celebrated together with my
work mates the international Women‘s day.
In contradiction to Germany it is a public holiday
here, where are a lot of events and celebrations. I was
happy to see that also many men have been there to
support the women.
Nevertheless I also took the chance to celebrate the
world youths day at the 12th of March. With the
youths from church we had a trip to Kizito, where we
made a picnic, played football and volleyball and of
course danced a lot.
We used a counter for transport and everyone was in
a very good mood so that we danced and sang a lot. It
felt a little bit like German carnival.
In the beginning of April I joined the two other
volunteers and they German families for a trip to
Livingstone.
I was really happy that I was allowed to join them and
had a very nice week with them.
We went to the Victoria Falls and I didn‘t expect that
the Falls would be so different from the first time we
have been there. After being there in last August we
have been there now in the Rainy season. I already
heard that there will be a lot of water but I never
expected that there would be that much water.
We spend the whole day there and at our way back to
the hotel I was already thinking that I would like to go
there even a third time.
That was a day I won‘t forget that fast.
wenn wir am Anfang des FSJs schon dorthin sind,
war es trotzdem ganz anders als beim ersten Mal.
Diesmal waren wir in der Regenzeit dort. Auch wenn
ich schon vorgewarnt wurde, dass viel Wasser bei den
Fällen sein wird, hätte ich mir nie vorstellen können,
dass es wirklich so eine Wucht wird. Ich hätte nicht
damit gerechnet, dass mich die Wasserfälle abermals
so umhauen können. Wir haben fast den ganzen Tag
dort verbracht, trotzdem habe ich mir schon auf dem
Rückweg ins Hotel gedacht, dass ich nochmal dorthin
fahren würde. Definitiv eine Empfehlung wert und
ein Tag, den ich nicht so schnell vergessen werde.
Zum Programm gehörte auch eine kleine Safaritour
und eine Bootsfahrt auf dem Sambesi.
Der Trip nach Livingstone hat mir nochmal
verdeutlicht, was für eine besondere Landschaft es
hier gibt. Nachdem ich mich hier an alles gewöhnt
habe, ist es, als hätte ich fast schon vergessen, wie
besonders es hier ist.
Am 29. April ist passiert, worauf ich mich schon
lange gefreut habe. Ich wurde in meiner Kirche, der
Catholic Church of Sacret Heart, getauft. Sambia
ist ein christliches Land, weshalb ich auch in einer
christlichen Gastfamilie lebe. Daher setze ich mich seit
Anbeginn meines FSJs viel mit Religion auseinander.
Da ich mich zunehmend mit
dem katholischen Glauben
identifizieren konnte, habe ich
mich dafür entschieden, mich
dort taufen zu lassen, wo ich
zum Glauben gefunden habe.
Daher bin ich vor allem meinen
sambischen Eltern sehr dankbar
für die Unterstützung, die ich
dabei erhalten habe. Zur Feier
des Tages sind auch Sister
Chrisencia, Agnes und die zwei
anderen Freiwilligen Alisha und
Jolina gekommen, worüber ich
mich sehr gefreut habe.
Ich bin glücklich darüber, mir
hier im Grunde genommen
ein neues Leben aufgebaut zu
haben. Ich habe einen geregelten

After return back home to Monze I realised that the
trip clarified again how beautiful the Zambian nature
is.
I really started getting used to everything so that I
nearly forgot how particular Zambian landscape is.
At the 29th of April finally happened what I waited for
since last year. I was baptised.
Since I‘m here in Zambia I am confronted with the
topic religion. I wasn‘t baptised in Germany so I
never had religion lessons in school or anything like
that. More and more I could identify myself with the
catholic beliefs so that it was really important for me
to have my baptism. It was also important for me to
do it here in Zambia because that‘s the place where I
started to believe in god. I was really happy about all
the support I got. Especially my family and the priest
helped me a lot.
So I was also happy about the support I got from the
EWE and that they joined at this special day. It was
nice to Agnes, Sister Chrisencia, Alisha and Jolina
again at this day.
I am really lucky about the new life I created myself
