Spitzengastronomie
Elf Kölner Spitzenrestaurants wurden zuletzt mit Michelin-Sternen
ausgezeichnet.
With more than 3,000 establishments – including 820
bars, 570 snack bars and 11 star restaurants – Cologne’s gastronomy
scene is as diverse and colourful as the city itself. Hardly any
of the 182 nations living in Cologne is not represented with. Italian
and Mediterranean restaurants dominate, but Ethiopian, Peruvian
and Asian cuisine are also offered.
In addition to the traditional breweries that radiate Cologne hospitality
and serve traditional cuisine, there are a whole series of restaurants
that draw attention to themselves with creative and promising
cuisine. Cologne’s culinary delights can also be discovered in
the numerous speciality shops, at special gastronomic events, in the
dazzling bar and pub scene or in first-class hotel restaurants and
bars as well as pretty cafés with an urban flair or Veedel atmosphere.
There are also delicatessen shops offering specialities and
gourmet creations. Streetfood festivals and weekly markets can be
explored during a culinary walk and the culinary repertoire can be
expanded and refined at tasting and cooking events under professional
guidance: Culinary fans can create their own cocktails or take
part in wine or whiskey tastings in addition to barista courses.
If you would like to learn more about the products and their production,
a visit to one of the thematically associated museums on
chocolate, wine and mustard is recommended.
Among the traditional old breweries are the »Brauhaus Sion«, the
»Cölner Hofbräu P. Josef Früh«, the brewery »Päffgen«, the
»Malzmühle« and the »Schreckenskammer«.
As part of the »Culinary Cologne« campaign, participating restaurants
are marked with the campaign logo, and culinary tours of the
city are offered. During such a guided tour, you embark on a world
tour without leaving Cologne and explore ethnic food as well as
high cuisine. For further information visit www.koelntourismus.de
