we proudly present to you our assortment for Autumn 2019 and Spring
2020. Concerning our own genetics, the whole Raes Genetics team has
continued to work hard to ameliorate and to extend it more and more.
One of our showpieces in this catalogue is the magnificent Primula
acaulis Rubens F1. This strong primrose with double flowers has great
decorative value and a good shelf life. Rubens has been enlarged with
Lemon Shades and Pink. These are of course not the only additions and
ameliorations of the assortment.
Thanks to the application and the motivation of everybody from our
Raes team, our principal target remains quality: from the breeding and
production to the final performance for your customer!

Standard-Serien, haben wir auch als Trendsetter im
Hinblick auf die Entwicklung von speziellen Farben und
Design-Mischungen zugewannt.

“Ecologically and economically responsible”: With our genetically compact varieties
we try to create a win-win situation for the whole supply chain. The grower can grow these
varieties with a limited use of growth regulators and energy and benefit from healthy, strong
flowers and less yellow leaves. Qualities that of course serve an ecological purpose as well.
Furthermore, a longer shelf life facilitates transport and benefits florists and garden centres.
In short, our aim is to create varieties that are economically interesting for the grower, are
good for the environment and give the customer beautiful and healthy plants that flower
over a longer period of time.
“Nachhaltigkeit” Mit unseren genetisch kompakten Sorten wollen wir vor allem
Nachhaltigkeit für die gesamte Kette zielen. Einfach zu kultivierende Sorten für die Erzeuger
mit begrenztem Einsatz von Wuchsregulatoren, Fungiziden und Energie. Der Produzent
profitiert via Pflanzengesundheit starke robuste Blüten und wenig gelbe Blätter. Das sind
Vorteile für die Umwelt und den Geldbeutel. Verbesserte Haltbarkeit für den Transport zu den
Verkaufsstellen sind die Vorteile für Groß- und Einzelhändler. Zusammengefast profitieren
die Endverbraucher von gesunden, umweltschonenden Pflanzen, Produzenten und der

Das Raes Genetics Team
“Indoor Use” For some time already we have been convinced
that the primula acaulis as a flowering pot plant
retains its beauty at least as long as a bouquet of cut
flowers. With standard varieties and traditional flower
forms it is quite difficult to convince consumers.
By introducing “Sweetie” and “Rubens” we are trying
to change that. Those primroses look different from a
traditional acaulis and have a good continuous indoor
flowering. If you are a bit creative, you will bring spring
into your home at low cost.
“Zimmerpflanze” Seit einiger Zeit sind wir überzeugt,
dass Primula acaulis ihre Schönheit mindestens so zur
Geltung bringt, wie ein Blumenstrauß. Die traditionellen
Sorten mit ihren Farben sind dafür aber weniger geeignet.
Mit “Sweetie” and “Rubens” wollen wir das ändern. Diese
Primeln sehen anders aus als eine gewöhnliche acaulis
und blühen auch als Indoor-Pflanze beständig weiter. Mit
ein wenig Phantasie bringen Sie den Frühling in Ihr Heim
zu einem kleinen Preis.

assortment. Each year we hold extensive spring and autumn trials which give us the
opportunity to optimize and expand our assortment. We are convinced that we are once
again able to offer you a full and diversified range of violas that meets your needs in terms
of timing and colour variation.
A short impression: Use our early flowering ‘Carrera’ series for your autumn and spring
sales.’Prim Up’ is a series developed especially for autumn flowering. It perks up autumn
sales with some unique colours such as ‘Bimbo Lips’ and ‘Cassis’. The ‘Felix’ series also
adds some remarkable colours to the assortment. Our small-flowered ‘Butterfly’ series,
which can be used for spring and autumn sales, offers a wide choice of colours that
satisfies everybody’s wishes. ‘Kitty’ decorates the rich colour palette of the ‘Butterfly’ series
with delicate whiskers. The ‘Super Butterfly’ distinguishes itself from our ‘Butterfly’ series
through its extra large flowers. And for hanging baskets you can use ‘Volaja’ and ‘Volaja XL’
with its slightly larger flowers.

Seit vielen Jahren arbeiten wir bereits erfolgreich daran ein umfangreiches und stimmiges
Violen-Sortiment zu bieten. Unsere jährlichen Versuche im Herbst und im Frühjahr sind die

plant habit. Plants are uniform, vigorous and flower in spring and autumn. The ‘Butterfly Blotch Colors’
series groups the best cornuta varieties with blotch available. Every year we add new and unusual colours
to this assortment. Our ‘Butterfly Clear Colors’ is a series made up of pure colours without blotch or
pattern. It contains a wide range of bicolours whereby the upper flower petals contrast strongly with the

Die ‘Butterfly’ Serie ist eine früh und sehr reich blühende Cornuta-Serie mit kompaktem und gut
verzweigtem Wuchs. Durch ihre einheitlichen, kräftigen Pflanzen hebt sich die ‘Butterfly’-Serie gegenüber
andern Serien deutlich ab. Die vielfältigen Farben lassen sich sowohl im Herbst, als auch im Frühjahr sehr
gut vermarkten. Die Farben der ‘Butterfly’-Serie wurden aufgeteilt in: mit Auge, reine Farben, Zweifarbig
und ‘Specials’ (Sonderfarben). Bei den Zweifarbigen wird besonders darauf geachtet, daß es genügend
Kontrast zwischen den oberen und unteren Blütenblättern gibt. Die ‘Specials’ Farben geben dem Cornuta

The large-flowered ‘Prim Up’ was developed
especially for flowering under short-day
conditions. The plants are characterized by
having a well branched, compact plant habit
and flowers on short stems that flower over
a longer period of time. In recent years great
progress was made in the development
of new colours with blotch. Varieties such
as ‘Yellow Blotch’ and ‘Orange Blotch’ are
exceptional in the viola assortment. ‘Prim Up’
also offers various unique ‘Clear Colors’.
Among these our ‘Dark Blue’, a colour you
will not find in any other series. ‘Prim Up
Red Yellow’ is the best bicolour of its kind.
‘Prim Up Specials’ are really special: ‘Bimbo
Lips’ and ‘Cassis’ are truly unique varieties.
‘Blue Yellow Splash’ is a gem that blooms on
an almost perfect plant. No other comparable
colour keeps on flowering like this variety
without stretching of the plants. Also part of
the ‘Prim Up’ assortment are various unique,
