“Internationales Flair bei der Innsbruck Trophy 2012“
Vom 25. bis 28. Mai herrscht auf den Sportplätzen in der USI und in
Hötting West wieder große Turnieratmosphäre: Die mittlerweile sechste
Auflage der „Innsbruck Trophy“, eines der größten internationalen
Fußball-Nachwuchsturniere Österreichs, wird für viele Kinder und
Jugendliche zu einem glanzvollen Höhepunkt ihrer jungen
Fußballkarriere. Mehr als 600 aktive europäische Jungfußballer aus fünf
Nationen treten in den Altersklassen von U11 bis U19 gegeneinander an
und als Bürgermeisterin der Stadt Innsbruck darf ich alle
Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer herzlich dazu willkommen heißen.
Bereits in den vergangenen Jahren war dieses Turnier ein großer Erfolg,
sowohl in sportlicher als auch in organisatorischer Hinsicht. Mein Dank
gilt an dieser Stelle dem Turnierorganisator Christian Lechner und Dr.
Andreas Oberhofer, Obmann des Innsbrucker Sportklubs, die alljährlich
für die gelungene Umsetzung und einen reibungslosen Ablauf dieser
Sportveranstaltung verantwortlich zeichnen.
Eine aktive sportliche Betätigung von Kindern und Jugendlichen erscheint mir außerordentlich wichtig, werden damit doch die
Grundvoraussetzungen für einen gesunden Lebensstil geschaffen. Mannschaftssportarten wie Fußball fördern zudem den
Teamgeist und das Bewusstsein, in einer Gemeinschaft auf ein Ziel hinzuarbeiten.
Es ist auch die Aufgabe der Stadt Innsbruck, ihren Bürgerinnen und Bürgern ein umfangreiches Angebot zur Verfügung zu stellen:
Angefangen bei Freiluft- bzw. Hallensporteinrichtungen für Fußball, Tennis oder Beachvolleyball über Schwimmbäder und
Kletterhallen bis hin zu Sportveranstaltungen wie dem Innsbrucker Laufcup oder dem Sporty Friday. Auch junge, aber sehr
beliebte Sportarten finden in Innsbruck ein adäquates Zuhause, etwa in der neuen WUB-Trendsporthalle. Es ist uns wichtig,
dieses Angebot nicht nur aufrecht zu erhalten, sondern laufend auszubauen; dafür stehen im Budget 2012 seitens der Stadt und
der IIG über 8,2 Millionen Euro bereit.
Den Turnierteilnehmerinnen und -Teilnehmern der „Innsbruck Trophy 2012“ wünsche ich jedenfalls spannende und von Fair-Play
geprägte Wettkampftage im Kreise von alten und neugewonnenen Freunden.

“International flair during the Innsbruck Trophy 2012 tournament“
From 25 th to 28 th of May, the USI and Hötting West playing fields in Innsbruck will again be surrounded by a great tournament
atmosphere: The already sixth edition of the Innsbruck Trophy, one of Austria’s biggest international youth football tournaments,
will be a major highlight in the young football careers of many children and youngsters. More than 600 active European young
football talents from five nations will compete against each other in the age groups from U11 to U19. As the mayor of the town of
Innsbruck I would like to warmly welcome all participants to this annual event.
The tournament has already been a great success in the previous years, both with regard to the athletic and organizational
performances. At this point I would like to thank Christian Lechner, the organizer of the tournament, and Dr. Andreas Oberhofer,
head of the Innsbruck Sports Club, who take the responsibility for the successful implementation and smooth running of this sports
event every year.
Sports activities of children and youngsters seem particularly important to me, considering that physical activity is the key to a
healthy lifestyle. Team sports, such as football, also promote team spirit and the awareness of jointly working towards a goal.
It is also a duty of the town of Innsbruck to provide its citizens with an extensive range of sports offers, from outdoor and indoor
sports facilities for football, tennis or beach volleyball via indoor pools and climbing gyms to sports events, such as the Innsbruck
running cup or the Sporty Friday. Innsbruck also provides the adequate environment for young, yet very popular sports, like in the
new WUB sports hall. It is important to us not only to maintain our sports offers but also to constantly extend our sports
infrastructure. The budget allocated to this purpose by the town of Innsbruck and the IIG (Innsbruck real estate limited liability
company) is more than 8.2 million euros for the year 2012.
Now, I would like to wish all participants of the Innsbruck Trophy 2012 tournament some exciting days of fair-play competition
amongst old and newly made friends.
