Herzlich willkommen zu einer Reise durch die Welt des Teppichdesigns.

Unter dem Namen und Motto ICONS – Carpets

with Soul hat JAB ANSTOETZ Flooring sechs renommierte,

erfrischend unkonventionelle Designerinnen und Designer aus

drei Kontinenten eingeladen, um außergewöhnliche Teppiche für

JAB ANSTOETZ zu entwerfen und mit der Expertise der führenden

europäischen Design Company bis zur Vollendung zu entwickeln.

Hinter allen Entwürfen der Kollektion steckt die Absicht, die

traditionelle Technik des Handtuftens neu zu interpretieren und

eine emotionale Geschichte vor dem kulturellen Hintergrund

der künstlerischen Heimat der Designerinnen und Designer zu

erzählen.

Das Ergebnis ist ebenso aussagekräftig wie inspirierend, denn

ICONS zelebriert Teppichdesign als kosmopolitische Kunstform.

Unsere Reise führt uns über Mailand, Prag, Bangkok,

Los Angeles, Düsseldorf bis in unsere Heimat nach Bielefeld.

Wir erleben einen Wettbewerb der Inspiration und ein Feuerwerk

der Farben, Formen und handwerklichen Raffinesse, das in dieser

Form einzigartig ist. Jeder Teppich der ICONS Kollektion ist ein

handgefertigtes Unikat, das von erfahrenen Kunsthandwerkern

in Thailand individuell getuftet und aus hochwertigen Garnqualitäten

gefertigt wird.

Welcome to a journey through the world of carpet design.

Under the name and motto ICONS – Carpets with Soul,

JAB ANSTOETZ Flooring has invited six renowned, refreshingly

unconventional designers from three continents to create

extraordinary carpets for JAB ANSTOETZ, using the expertise of

the leading European design company to develop their carpets to

perfection.

The intention behind all the designs of this collection is to

reinterpret the traditional technique of hand-tufting and to

tell an emotional story against the cultural background of the

designers’ artistic homelands.

The result is as meaningful as it is inspiring, because ICONS

celebrates carpet design as a cosmopolitan art form. Our

journey takes us via Milan, Prague, Bangkok, Los Angeles and

Düsseldorf to our home city of Bielefeld. We experience a competition

of inspiration and a firework display of colours, shapes

and artisanship such as has never been seen before. Each rug in

the ICONS collection is a handmade one-off piece, individually

tufted by experienced artisans in Thailand and made of the

highest quality yarns.

We invite you to look forward to a fascinating journey and to

celebrate the diversity and beauty of design with us.

Das Markenzeichen der italienischen Designikone Piero Lissoni

ist Einfachheit als Ausdruck zeitloser Eleganz und Schönheit.

Getreu der Erkenntnis „Einfach zu sein ist sehr kompliziert“

verbindet der vielfach ausgezeichnete Architekt, Designer und

Art Director italienische Handwerkstradition, Kunst und Design

zu einem einzigartigen Stil, der weltweit Anklang findet. Innenräume,

Möbel, Architektur, Produkte, Markenidentitäten – der

Designer mit Basis in Mailand und New York sprengt konventionelle

Genregrenzen und bereichert mit der Serie „Flowers“ erstmals

die Designteppichkollektion ICONS – Carpets with Soul by

JAB ANSTOETZ. Untermalt von feinen Farbharmonien setzen die

beiden Grundthemen „Moiré“ und „Brocade“ essentielle Formen

der Natur großflächig in Szene. Auf diese Weise interpretiert

Lissoni mit der für ihn typischen Handschrift klassische textile

Strukturen neu und initiiert einen spannenden Dialog zwischen

Tradition und zeitgenössischem Design.

The hallmark of the Italian design icon Piero Lissoni is

simplicity, as an expression of timeless elegance and beauty.

True to the insight that “being simple is very complicated”, the

multi-award-winning architect, designer and art director combines

Italian artisanship, art and design to create a unique style

that has found favour all over the world. The designer, based in

Milan and New York, breaks down conventional genre boundaries

between interiors, furniture, architecture, products and brand

identities. With his “Flowers” series, he now, for the first time,

enriches the design carpet collection ICONS – Carpets with Soul

by JAB ANSTOETZ. Accompanied by subtle colour harmonies, the

two basic themes “moiré” and “brocade” showcase essential

shapes found in nature on a large scale. In this way, Lissoni

reinterprets classic textile structures with his typical signature

style and initiates an exciting dialogue between tradition and

contemporary design.

Zauber verbreitet. Lucie Koldova steht für eine neue Generation

unnachahmliche Weise verbinden. Nachdem ihre skulpturalen

Lichtobjekte weltweit große Anerkennung gefunden haben,

überträgt Lucie Koldova ihre kreative Handschrift nicht nur

auf die Möbelkollektion Nimbo für die Bielefelder Werkstätten,

sondern im Rahmen der Designerkollektion ICONS mit Herzblut

und großer Freude auch auf textile Oberflächen.

As a poet of form, Lucie Koldova has created an independent,

intuitive design language. Light and glass are the main

ingredients with which the furniture and lighting designer – who

works primarily in Prague and Paris – conjures her atmospheric

magic. Lucie Koldova represents a new generation of female designers

who inimitably combine traditional artisanship, such as

Bohemian glassblowing, with innovation and artistic expression.

Once her sculptural light objects gained worldwide recognition,

Lucie Koldova transferred her creative signature not only to the

Nimbo furniture collection for the Bielefelder Werkstätten, but

also, with passion and great pleasure, to textile surfaces as part

of the ICONS designer collection.

Die thailändische Textilkünstlerin, Designerin und Dozentin

hat sich dem global bedeutenden Thema der Nachhaltigkeit

verschrieben, indem sie die Möglichkeiten innovativer Textilkunst

und -produktion auslotet. Auf der Basis einer tiefen

Wertschätzung für die Natur und das thailändische Textilhandwerk

verwendet und recycelt Jarupatcha Achavasmit für ihr

minimalistisches Design unter anderem textile Materialien.

Exklusiv für die Designteppichkollektion ICONS hat die Dozentin

am King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in Bangkok

ihr Gespür für die Formenvielfalt der Natur in die Gestaltung

außergewöhnlicher Teppichkreationen auf Basis nachhaltiger

TENCEL Lyocell Fasern einfließen lassen.

The Thai textile artist, designer and lecturer has dedicated

herself to the globally important topic of sustainability by

exploring the possibilities of innovative textile art and production.

Based on a deep appreciation for nature and Thai textile

artisanship, Jarupatcha Achavasmit uses and recycles textile

materials for her minimalist designs. Exclusively for the ICONS

designer carpet collection, the lecturer at the King Mongkut

Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in Bangkok has channelled

her inspired feeling for nature’s diversity of forms into the

design of extraordinary carpet creations based on sustainable

TENCEL Lyocell fibres.

Wo Sarinya Limthongtip ihre kreative Schöpferkraft fließen

thailändisch-chinesischer Abstammung ist in der Altstadt Bangkoks

aufgewachsen und hat das Licht, die Kultur und Lebenskraft

ihrer Heimat in ein emotionales Design transformiert, das voller

zu erzählen versteht. Nach einem Studium an der Bangkok

University und am Chelsea College of Arts in London betreibt

sie seit 2009 das Srinlim Design Studio in Bangkok. Mit ihren

grafischen, farbenfrohen Designs hat Sarinya Limthongtip zwei

Unikate von außergewöhnlicher Kreativität und Leichtigkeit zur

ICONS Kollektion beigesteuert.

Wherever Sarinya Limthongtip lets her creative energy flow,

the sun rises. The graphic and textile designer of Thai-

Chinese descent grew up in Bangkok’s historic centre and has

transformed the light, culture and vitality of her homeland into

an emotional design full of visual vitality, telling original stories.

After studying at Bangkok University and Chelsea College of Arts

in London, she has run the Srinlim Design Studio in Bangkok since

2009. With her graphic, colourful designs, Sarinya Limthongtip

has contributed two unique pieces of extraordinary creativity and

lightness to the ICONS collection.

Fairness and respect for the environment and the people involved

are particularly important to us. Our customised rugs are

produced only with especially high-quality and sustainable yarns

such as wool and TENCEL. When manufacturing a unique piece,

we ensure that we utilise the exact quantities of yarns and

colours required. In this way, there is as little waste as possible.

The entire production and yarn dyeing process is carried out

using resource- and water-saving processes by using an

innovative water treatment system, in compliance with strict

environmental regulations.
