CeWOTec gGmbH is successfully developing the traditional field of tribologicalmechanical
surface refinement technology
CeWOTec gGmbH Chemnitzer Werkstoff- und Oberflächentechnik
is the successor to the Institut für Physikalische
und Mechanische Technologien (IPMT) Chemnitz. It
has been a scientifically independent entity since May 2003
and legally independent since January 2005. It was previously
a branch of the GFE – Gesellschaft für Fertigungstechnik
und Entwicklung e.V. Schmalkalden, which itself
split from the Forschungszentrum der Werkzeugindustrie in
1990/92.
Having remained faithful to its traditional field – tribological-mechanical
surface finishing – for several years,
CeWOTec is both a non-profit research institution and a
service provider for industry in one. Its four divisions,
n Thin Film Technology,
n Arc Welding Technology,
n Heat Treatment and
n Materials Testing
provide a broad range of services, primarily in the form of
applied contract research and development, consultancy
and servicing, and have a wide variety of surface coatings
and refinement processes at their disposal.
The company's scientific and business activities are generally
focused on innovation and development, using cutting-edge
surface coating, edge treatment and analysis
technologies and preparing them for practical applications
to reduce the cost of materials, energy and production by
minimizing
n wear,
n friction,
n adhesion and
n corrosion
in tools and components of all kinds and a wide range of
applications.
Furthermore, its training schemes provide students in regional
universities and technical colleges with regular opportunities
to spend several months with the company on apprenticeships
in the field of surface technology, culminating
in a final paper.
CeWOTec is a member of the
n Verband Innovativer Unternehmen (VIU) e. V.
Berlin and
n the Deutsche Verband für Schweißtechnik und verwandte
Verfahren (DVS) e.V. Düsseldorf
and has research and development partnerships with other
research institutions (e.g. FGW e.V. Remscheid, Fraunhofer
IWS Dresden, the department of Mechanical Engineering
at the Chemnitz University of Technology, SLV Halle GmbH).
The majority of CeWOTec's industrial customers are manufacturers
and users of tools, wearing components and machines
from a variety of industrial sectors, suppliers for the
automotive industry and companies and institutions that
are active in the field of surface engineering, both in the
West Saxony/ Eastern Thuringia region and increasingly
elsewhere in Germany and Europe.
CeWOTec's comprehensive range of small to medium size
technical equipment and machinery covers all of the main
brands, giving it a considerable level of expertise in complex
research and development projects, industrial development
contracts for tribological-mechanical issues and
high-quality, technologically optimized surface coatings, arc
welding and heat treatment. n
