Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
schön, dass Sie Interesse an der Forschungs- und Entwick -
lungslandschaft in Sachsen zeigen. Diese Publikation gibt
Ihnen dazu einen Überblick. Anschauliche Praxisbeispiele
sollen Ihnen als mittelständischem Unternehmen Mut machen,
in Innovationsprozesse einzusteigen.
Innovationen sind für die Zukunft des einzelnen Unternehmens
essenziell. Ebenso hängt von ihnen die wirtschaftliche
Entwicklung Sachsens und der Gesellschaft insgesamt
ab. Wirtschaft und Politik stehen also gemeinsam in Verantwortung.
Mit neuen oder verbesserten Produkten und Technologien
können sich Unternehmen im nationalen und internationalen
Wettbewerb behaupten und nachhaltigen wirtschaftlichen
Erfolg haben. Doch: Gute Ideen sind gefragt! Auch
wenn der direkte Kundenkontakt und kreative Mitarbeiter
erfolgversprechende Ansätze liefern – für mittelständische
Betriebe ist der Einstieg in die Forschungs- und Entwick -
lungsarbeit in der Regel eine große Herausforderung.
Damit sich Innovationen am Markt durchsetzen können,
bedarf es oft starker Partner – gerade bei begrenzten personellen
oder finanziellen Ressourcen. Seien Sie gewiss:
Sachsen unterstützt seine mittelständischen Unternehmen
in allen Phasen des Innovationsprozesses. Die Stärken des
sächsischen Mittelstandes – seine Kreativität und Flexibilität
– mit der Industrieforschung zu vernetzen, ist das erklärte
Ziel. Dabei ist der Aufbau einer fundierten Zusammenarbeit
auch in Bereichen wie Innovationsentwicklung und
Netzwerkstruktur entscheidend für die Innovationsfähigkeit
kleiner und mittlerer Unternehmen.
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ich bin mir sicher, dass
der Forschungsatlas Ihnen Orientierungshilfe und Inspirationsquelle
sein kann. Ich wünsche Ihnen treffende Ideen
und erfolgversprechende Kontakte, damit der Mittelstand

it is great that you are showing an interest in the research
and development scene in Saxony. This publication will
provide you with an overview of this field. Clear, practical
examples should provide you, as a medium-sized business,
with the courage to get involved in the innovation process.
Innovations are essential for the future of individual companies.
The economic development of Saxony and society
on the whole are equally reliant on innovation. Economics
and politics therefore share a degree of responsibility for
the development of innovation.
With new or improved products and technologies, companies
can hold their ground when faced with national and
international competition and can experience sustainable
economic success. However: good ideas are required! Even
if direct customer contact and creative employees rep resent
promising approaches to business, embarking on research
and development activities generally poses a great
challenge to medium-sized businesses.
In order that innovations can penetrate the market, strong
partners are usually required – even if your personnel or
financial resources are limited. Be assured: Saxony supports
its medium-sized businesses throughout all phases of the
innovation process. We have set ourselves the goal of networking
the strengths of Saxon medium-sized enterprise –
its creativity and flexibility – with industrial research. In so
doing, the development of sound cooperation, including in
fields such as innovation development and network structuring,
is crucial to the ability of small and medium-sized
businesses to innovate.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am certain that the Forschungsatlas
can provide you with guidance and a source of
ins piration. I hope you will discover relevant ideas and
promising contacts so that medium-sized business will
