The first issue of 2012 aims to give you an overview of successful
projects undertaken by the POLYTEC GROUP and provides information
on our Group.
This issue focuses on the results of the financial year 2011, first
quarter 2012 and reports on the trade show presentations and visits
that took place in the first quarter of the year.
A new POLYTEC GROUP member, POLYTEC PLASTICS Ebensee will
also present its key data and history and describes its history until
being integrated in the POLYTEC GROUP.
The Editorial Team hopes that this issue of POLYTEC WORLD will once
again receive your undivided attention and we wish you an entertaining
read.

Liebe Leserinnen und Leser,
die erste Ausgabe des Jahres 2012 soll Ihnen zwei der erfolgreichen
Projekte der POLYTEC GROUP präsentieren sowie Informationen über
unseren Konzern liefern.
Die Schwerpunkte dieser Ausgabe bilden Themen über die Ergebnisse des
Geschäftsjahres 2011, sowie des ersten Quartals 2012 und Berichterstattungen
über die Messeauftritte bzw. –besuche, die in diesem Frühjahr
stattgefunden haben.
Auch ein neues Mitglied der POLYTEC GROUP, POLYTEC PLASTICS Ebensee,
wird Ihnen seine Eckdaten, seine Geschichte und seinen Weg in die
POLYTEC GROUP veranschaulichen.

After producing more than
550,000 tractors of its 6000 Series,
JOHN DEERE is now completely
transforming the way
tractors work with its new 6R
series. Even with this new generation,
JOHN DEERE has again relied
on SMC sheet moulded compound
parts made by POLYTEC
COMPOSITES. Not only the cabin
module, consisting of an inner
and outer cabin roof, but also the
multi-component engine hood
for the 6-cylinder engines of the
new series are manufactured at

for the cabin module “just in sequence”
to the JOHN DEERE cabin
plant in Bruchsal. The engine
hoods are delivered to the JOHN
DEERE tractor plant in Mannheim
by the Rastatt based POLYTEC
INDUSTRIELACKIERUNGEN. Starting
in 2012, these two POLYTEC
locations will additionally be supplying
the North American JOHN
DEERE tractor plant in Waterloo,
Iowa, as well.

POLYTEC PLASTICS Ebensee
at the heart of the Salzkammergut in Upper Austria
im Herzen des Salzkammergutes in Oberösterreich
The Ebensee plant lies at the heart of the Salzkammergut
in Upper Austria and is one of the largest employers in
the region. The plant covers a total area of 103,000 m²,
of which 54,000 m² are used for buildings. This is divided
into a production hall of 7,300 m², warehouses covering
more than 45,000 m² and the office buildings.
In 2001 the Steiner Group declared
bankruptcy. The injection moulding
and textile production and the
„STEINER“ brand name were acquired
by Friedrich Huemer and continued
under the name PPI – Plastic Products
Innovation.
The Steiner Group, which was founded
in 1984, relocated production
in 1993 from Aurachkirchen to
Ebensee due to a shortage of space.
At the beginning, exclusively leisure
furniture was manufactured on the
15 injection moulding machines
and sold throughout Europe. At
the end of 1993, production of
logistics boxes commenced for
Steco, a company belonging to the
Steiner Group. Suffering from a lack
of space once again, the plant was
expanded in 2000 with another
warehouse and a three-storey office
building. The number of machines
was also increased to 47 injection
moulding machines equipped with

central material supply from 24
silos. Aside from the specialisation
in leisure furniture and the production
of logistics boxes for the now
demerged company Steco, the first
contract manufacturing and peak
coverage was soon carried out for
the POLYTEC GROUP. In September
2011, integration into the POLYTEC
GROUP as a further plant of PLASTICS
followed, and in February 2012, in line
with corporate identity, the name
was changed to POLYTEC PLASTICS
Ebensee/PPE.
In 2011, the company employed
160 members of staff, operated 20
injection moulding machines and
carried out textile manufacture, and
recorded sales of EUR 27 million.
With the manufacturing processes
used, 1-component injection
moulding, 2-component injection
moulding, gas injection moulding,
sandwich injection moulding and
film back injection moulding, a wide
range of customer requirements can
be fulfilled on the 20 machines with
a press force of between 140 tons
and 1,800 tons with shot weights of
between 300 g and 16,400 g.
In addition to technical production
know-how, POLYTEC PLASTICS
Ebensee also offers support over the
entire supply chain – for instance, if
required for mail order selling, the
entire logistics process through to
the end customer, including returns
processing, can be undertaken.

Der Standort Ebensee liegt im Herzen des Salzkammergutes
in Oberösterreich und ist einer der größten
Arbeitgeber in der Region. Das Werk erstreckt sich über
eine Gesamtfläche von 103.000 m², wovon 54.000 m²
verbaut sind. Diese teilt sich auf eine Produktionshalle
mit 7.300 m² und Lagerhallen mit mehr als 45.000 m²
sowie das Bürogebäude auf.
2001 meldete die Steiner Gruppe
Konkurs an. Die Spritzguss- und
Textilproduktion sowie der Markenname
„STEINER“ wurden von Friedrich
Huemer übernommen und unter
dem Namen PPI – Plastic Products
Innovation weitergeführt.
Die 1984 gegründete Steiner-Gruppe
verlagerte die Produktion 1993
aufgrund von Platzproblemen von
Aurachkirchen nach Ebensee. Auf
vorerst 15 Spritzgussmaschinen
wurden zu Beginn ausschließlich
Freizeitmöbel produziert und europaweit
vertrieben. Ende 1993 wurde
die Produktion von Logistikbehältern
für das zur Steiner-Gruppe gehörende
Unternehmen Steco aufgenommen.
Abermals unter Platzmangel leidend,
wurde das Werk im Jahr 2000
um eine zweite Lagerhalle und ein
dreistöckiges Bürogebäude erweitert.
Ebenfalls wurde der Maschinenpark
auf 47 Spritzgussmaschinen mit
zentraler Materialversorgung aus 24

Silos aufgerüstet. Neben der Spezialisierung
auf Freizeitmöbel und der
Produktion von Logistikboxen für die
nun abgespaltene Firma Steco wurden
bald darauf erste Lohnfertigungen
bzw. Spitzenabdeckungen für die
POLYTEC GROUP durchgeführt. Im
September 2011 folgte die Integration
in die POLYTEC GROUP als weiteres
Werk der POLYTEC PLASTICS und im
Februar 2012, entsprechend der Corporate
Identity, die Umbenennung auf
POLYTEC PLASTICS Ebensee/PPE.
2011 konnte das Unternehmen mit
160 Mitarbeiter und 20 Spritzgussmaschinen
sowie der Textilfertigung
einen Umsatz von ca. 27 Mio. EURO
verzeichnen. Mit den eingesetzten
Fertigungsverfahren 1-Komponenten
Spritzguss, 2-Komponenten
Spritzguss, Gasinnendruckverfah-

ren, Sandwich-Spritzguss, sowie
Folienhinterspritzen kann auf den
20 vorhandenen Maschinen mit
Schließkräften zwischen 140 t und
1.800 t ein breites Spektrum an Kundenwünschen
mit Schussgewichten
von 300 bis 16.400 g erfüllt werden.
Zusätzlich zu dem produktionstechnischen
Know-how bietet POLYTEC
PLASTICS Ebensee auch die komplette
Betreuung der Supply Chain – so
wird beispielsweise auf Wunsch für
den Versandhandel die komplette
Abwicklung der Logistik bis zum
Endkunden inklusive Retourenabwicklung
übernommen.
Dafür stehen 40 LKW-Laderampen
und ein in den Lagerhallen integrierter

purpose. To ensure compliance with
the necessary quality criteria, the
site has been certified in accordance
with ISO 9001 since 2002. To satisfy
the stringent requirements of the
automotive industry, the certification
audits for ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001
were successfully passed after a short
and intensive preparation period and
thus the last step to become a tier 1
supplier was completed. In the leisure
furniture segment, additional audits
in accordance with DIN EN 581- 2
and - 3, British Standard 581-2 were
completed.
In the laboratory, the prevalent
material and colour tests
were undertaken and a
POLYTEC WORLD
FaroArm was recently acquired for
measuring parts.
Due to the excellent infrastructure
which already exists, POLYTEC
PLASTICS Ebensee is ideally equipped
for further growth and investment
and can look forward to a promising
future.

Lieferanten gesetzt. Im Freizeitmöbelbereich
werden zusätzlich

Im Labor können die gängigen Material-
und Farbprüfungen durchgeführt
werden und zum Vermessen der
Teile wurde vor kurzem ein Messarm
angeschafft.
Aufgrund der bereits vorhandenen
hervorragenden Infrastruktur ist
die POLYTEC PLASTICS Ebensee für
weiteres Wachstum und Investitionen
bestens gerüstet und kann auf
eine erfolgsversprechende Zukunft
blicken.

At the beginning of 2012, the starting gun
was fired at the POLYTEC PLASTICS plant in
Lohne, Germany, for series production of an
innovative plastic oil pan for the Volkswagen
Group.

Anfang 2012 fiel im POLYTEC PLASTICS Werk
im deutschen Lohne der Startschuss für die
Serienproduktion einer innovativen Ölwanne
aus Kunststoff für den Volkswagen Konzern.
It all starts with know-how: For roughly four years, a specialist team
at POLYTEC has been developing truck and car oil pans made of plastic.
Aller Anfang ist Know-how: Seit rund vier Jahren entwickelt POLYTEC
mit einem spezialisierten Team Ölwannen aus Kunststoff
für den Lkw- und Pkw-Bereich.

600,000 items per year are scheduled
to be produced for the 2.0 liter and
1.8 liter versions of the Group‘s
“world engine”.
This contract once again demonstrates
the first-class competence
of the plant in Lohne concerning
the development and production of
components using injection moulding
techniques.
Irrefutable advantages
In comparison to conventional pans
made of steel, plastic pans offer
many advantages. A very important
criterion in this respect is weight
reduction, which boosts fuel efficiency
and therefore lowers both
the operating costs and the CO 2
emissions from the engine. The steel
pan used previously tipped the scales
at 2.5 kilograms; in comparison, at
0.8 kilograms, the plastic pan from
POLYTEC weighs only around one
third thereof. In addition, plastic oil
pans offer stone impact resistance,
freedom from corrosion and lower
noise emissions. The material used is a
heat-stabilized polyamide with a high
loading of glass fiber reinforcement
which allows the oil to warm up
more quickly – and hence the engine
as a whole reaches its operating
temperature more quickly.
Innovation from the
POLYTEC stable
During the development process of
truck and car oil pans made of plastic,
POLYTEC was granted its own patent
for a particular design of an oil drain
screw. This oil drain screw of plastic
has a special twist stop and patented
lock at the tightened position,
which protects it against accidental
release. This means that in future
POLYTEC can offer its customers
even more advantages in respect
of space and cost reduction, fully
in accordance with our motto:
PASSION CREATES INNOVATION.
Indisputable proof: No oil pan leaves the plant until it has been 100 %
tested for leak tightness. Every component is tagged so the results of
the test are traced and documented with all the measured values.

Konzerns aus der Baureihe für 2,0
und 1,8-Liter-Motoren eingebaut
werden.
Mit diesem Auftrag stellt das Werk in
Lohne einmal mehr seine erstklassige
Kompetenz bei der Entwicklung und
Fertigung von Spritzgusstechnik-
Komponenten unter Beweis.
Überzeugende Vorteile
Im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Stahlwannen
bietet die Kunststoffwanne
viele Vorteile. Ein sehr wichtiges Kriterium
ist hier die Gewichtsreduktion,
die eine Treibstoffreduktion bewirkt
und damit sowohl die Betriebskosten
als auch die CO 2 -Emissionen des
Motors verringert. Verglichen mit der
bisher eingesetzten Stahlwanne, die
noch 2,5 kg auf die Waage brachte,
wiegt die Kunststoffwanne von
POLYTEC mit 0,8 kg nur mehr rund
ein Drittel. Zudem zeichnet sich die
Kunststoffwanne durch Steinschlagresistenz,
Korrosionsfreiheit und
Geräuscharmut aus. Das eingesetzte
Material, ein wärmestabilisiertes
Polyamid mit hoher Glasfaserfüllung,
ermöglicht auch eine schnellere
Erhitzung des Öls – und damit eine
raschere Erwärmung des Motors.
Innovation aus dem Hause
POLYTEC
Ein eigenes Patent erwarb POLYTEC
im Rahmen der Entwicklung von
Ölwannen aus Kunststoff für Lkw
und Pkw mit einer besonderen Ausführung
der Ölablassschraube. Diese
Ölablassschraube aus Kunststoff hat
einen speziellen Drehanschlag und
eine patentierte Verrastung in der
Endstellung, sodass sie gegen unbeabsichtigtes
Lösen gesichert ist.
Damit kann POLYTEC seinen Kunden
in Zukunft noch mehr Vorteile in
Richtung Platz- und Kostenreduktion
bieten, ganz nach ihrem Motto:

Unbestechliche Prüfung: Keine Ölwanne verlässt die Anlage ohne
eine 100%ige Dichtigkeitsprüfung. Jedes Bauteil wird markiert, um
das Ergebnis der Prüfung nachzuvollziehen und mit allen Messwerten
lückenlos zu dokumentieren.

Hörsching
On 24th of November last year, the
staff at the Hörsching site were given
the opportunity to get to know the
Fisker Karma close up. Interest was
intense, especially as many employees
had been involved in the development
and tool manufacture of the PUR
front and rear bumper systems or
are currently working with the mass
production of them.
An employee raffle was held as a
highlight of the event. This gave
three lucky winners the opportunity
to sit at the wheel of the Karma and
experience the unique hybrid concept
with Range Extender.
AUTO EXPO -
the largest motor show
for India and
the entire region
Auto Expo, the largest motor show in
India, took place this year between
the 7th and 11th of January in New
Delhi for the eleventh time. Over
1,500 exhibitors from 25 countries
took part in Asia‘s largest motor
show, also known as the gateway
to the large Indian market.
For the POLYTEC GROUP as well,
there was the opportunity this
year to showcase its innovations
and products together with its
Indian cooperation partner Injectoplast.
The existing cooperation
met with a positive response and
both partners were encouraged to
intensify their commitment to one
another. Important new contacts
with DAIMLER India, MARUTI SUZUKI
and BMW were established and
existing customer relationships
with FORD, GM, AUDI and VW were
strengthened.

Am 24. November des vergangenen
Jahres wurde der Belegschaft des
Standortes Hörsching die Möglichkeit
geboten, den Fisker Karma aus
nächster Nähe kennenzulernen.
Das Interesse war groß, zumal viele
Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen
bei Entwicklung und Werkzeugbau
der PUR-Front- und Heckstoßfängersysteme
mitgewirkt haben oder
aktuell mit der Serienproduktion
betraut sind.
Als Highlight der Veranstaltung wurde
ein Mitarbeiter-Gewinnspiel durchgeführt.
Drei glückliche Gewinner
erhielten so die Gelegenheit, selbst
am Steuer des Karma Platz zu nehmen
und das neuartige Hybridkonzept mit
Range Extender zu erleben.

Die Auto Expo, die größte Automobilausstellung
in Indien fand zwischen
dem 7. und 11. Jänner zum elften Mal in
New Delhi statt. Über 1.500 Aussteller
aus 25 Nationen nahmen an Asiens
größter Automobilausstellung, die auch

Auch für POLYTEC GROUP gab es heuer
erneut die Möglichkeit gemeinsam mit

Zusammenarbeit ist auf gute Resonanz
gestoßen und beide Partner wurden
ermutigt, dass aufgezeigte Engagement
weiter zu vertiefen. Wichtige neue
Kontakte zu DAIMLER India, MARUTI
SUZUKI und BMW konnten geknüpft
und bestehende Kundenbeziehungen
zu FORD, GM, AUDI und VW intensiviert
werden.

2012
Considering 2011 as a recovery year, this year’s show was
filled with optimism of positive targets for the future.
The show comes amid a string of
improving economic data with a
strong outlook for a steady US
recovery. As one of the few shows
held every year, Detroit is still considered
an important show. Significant
new vehicle launches have taken
place from most manufactures.
Important vehicles from FORD such
as the new FORD Fusion, LINCOLN
MK as a concept, and the 2013
MUSTANG Boss 302 with Front and
rear diffusers from POLYTEC FOHA
have been unveiled.
CHRYSLER launched the 200 Special
edition which will have a Rear Spoiler
to be supplied by POLYTEC FOHA
as well as the new DODGE Dart
brining back a name from the past.
Other production vehicles launched
included CADILLAC with the ATS,
ACURA RDX, HYUNDAI Genesis,
BUICK Encore, BENTLEY Continental,
MERCEDES BENZ SL, Scion FR-S
to name but a few. JAGUAR LAND
ROVER showed off the XK-RS wearing
the body kit and rear spoiler
from POLYTEC HOLDEN as well as
the pending XC-16, which will be
produced in the near future.
Concept vehicles have been the stars
of the show with the ACURA NSX ,
LEXUS LF-LC, CORVETTE Stingray,
leading the way with KIA, LAND
ROVER, HYUNDAI, VOLKSWAGEN,
CHEVROLET and VOLVO also showing
future trends and designs.
Stepping back into the past, Lincoln
showed a Model 40 Special Roadster
that was built for Edsel Ford in 1934
and being used by Lincoln to move
the brand further up market.

Sieht man das Jahr 2011 unter dem Aspekt der wirtschaftlichen
Erholung, war die diesjährige Detroit-Show durch
Optimismus und positive Zukunftsziele geprägt.
Der Zeitpunkt der Show war günstig:
eingerahmt von Wirtschaftsdaten, die
einen deutlichen Aufwärtstrend und
beste Aussichten auf eine beständige
Erholung der US-Wirtschaft belegen.
Als eine der wenigen Shows, die jedes
Jahr stattfinden, gilt Detroit nach wie
vor als wichtiges Branchen-Event.
Nahezu jeder Hersteller nutzte die
Gelegenheit, durch die Markteinführung
neuer Modelle Zeichen zu
setzen. FORD enthüllte bedeutende
LINCOLN ROADSTER 40 ACURA NSX
neue Modelle wie den LINCOLN MK
als Konzept-Car den FORD Fusion
und den 2013 MUSTANG Boss 302
mit Front- und Heckdiffusor von
POLYTEC FOHA.
CHRYSLER präsentierte die Sonderedition
200, dessen Heckspoiler
ebenfalls von POLYTEC FOHA geliefert
wird, sowie den neuen DODGE Dart,
mit dem ein vertrauter Name auf die
Straßen zurückkehrt. JAGUAR LAND
ROVER richtete die Scheinwerfer
auf den XK-RS mit Body-Kit und
Heckspoiler von POLYTEC HOLDEN

Unter den weiteren vorgestellten

The Geneva International Motor Show held every
March will have 180 World and European Premiers
presented by the 260 exhibitors. New models
from more than 30 of the world’s major manufacturers
have been shown. Geneva International
Motor Show has consolidated its position amongst
the world leaders of international automobile
exhibitions.
POLYTEC WORLD
Small fuel-efficient vehicle standing
amongst some of the most
dynamic super cars available or in
concept form covered the floor of
the exhibition.
From the brash LAMBORGHINI, one
off Aventador J that was sold to a
collector for $2.8m to the minute
TATA megapixel, showed vehicles
from one end of the spectrum to
the other.
Of significant premieres AUDI
launched the new A3 that will
face a challenge from the latest
MERCEDES-BENZ A-Class. FORD
and FIAT debuted unveiled their
latest entries into the growing
European small minivan segment.
FORD with the new B-Max and
FIAT with the 500L an over sized
edition of the FIAT 500.
JAGUAR launched the XF Sportbrake,
which is effectively a wagon
version of the XF design platform
and aimed directly at the likes of
AUDI Avant, BMW 5series touring
and the MERCEDES-BENZ E-Class
wagon. POLYTEC CAR STYLING
Bromyard will supply various parts
on this vehicle when it starts production
later this year. VOLVO will
expand its lineup with the striking
new V40 an entry premium vehi-
cle that will rival to the AUDI A3
sport back. This vehicle will carry
parts from POLYTEC CAR STYLING
Hörsching that will be launched at
a future date.
BMW with the 6series Gran Coupe
enters the fast growing niche for
four door coupe style vehicles
and will rival cars such as the
MERCEDES-BENZ CLS-Class, AUDI
A7 and PORSCHE Panamera.
In comparison to years past, electric
cars have not been so obvious
as in the past. TESLA, FISKER and
BMW with I3 and I 8 showed full
electric or range extended models.
Other less significant E cars have
been shown with less fanfare than
in the past.
Geneva remains the gem of the
car show circuit with the influence
on design and styling showing
the way for the future.

eher untergeordnete Rolle. TESLA,
FISKER und BMW mit dem I3 und
I8 zeigten vollelektrische Modelle
mit größerer Reichweite. Weitere
weniger interessante Elektrofahrzeuge
wurden weniger pompös als in der
Vergangenheit präsentiert.
Genf bleibt der Diamant der Automobilausstellungen
mit Design- und
Styling-Einfluss, der den Weg in die
Zukunft zeigt.
The JEC Composites Show in Paris, held from 29 – 31
March 2012, once again confirmed its position as the
leading European and international event for the dynamic
composites industry.
After 3 show days, the gates at
Porte de Versailles in Paris closed
by setting a new record with over
30,000 visitors and around 1,200
exhibitors from all over the world.
In the wake of last year’s successful
presentation by POLYTEC
COMPOSITES, the decision was
taken to participate again in 2012
in what can meanwhile be termed
the international leading trade
fair for composites.
POLYTEC EMC, a manufacturer of
custom-made multi-component
metering-, mixing- and dispensing
equipment joined the stand
as Co-Exhibitor for the first time.
Their machines are designed for
the efficient processing of reactive
chemicals as e.g. epoxy resins,
polyurethanes or silicones.
Alongside eye-catching exhibits
like the cabin roof for the new
John Deere 6040 Series and 6040
6R engine hood, the solar collector
developed in collaboration
with Bosch and awarded by AVK
- Federation of Reinforced Plastics
- with the second place in
the category Environment in 2011
also drew in a crowd. This year’s
JEC show reflected the further
growing interest in light weight
structures for the automotive sector,
a subject on which POLYTEC
COMPOSITES also presented special
exhibits. The amount of possible
weight saving was effectively
illustrated using the application
example of a deck lid. Interested
visitors just needed to get one
“grip” on the deck lid manufactured
from SMC to understand the
kind of weight reduction possible
with the use of composite materials
ranging from low density
SMC (LD-SMC) to inner shells produced
from carbon SMC and outer
shells manufactured using LD-SMC.
Besides the highlights of
POLYTEC COMPOSITES, POLYTEC
EMC showed one of their compact
DG 108 systems for processing
epoxy materials for the production
of composite parts, at the
joint stand. All in all, it was a successful
performance by the two
divisions and gave the trade-show
attendees a first impression of
the extensive product portfolio
and competences of the POLYTEC
GROUP.

entwickelte und mit dem AVK Innovationspreis
2011 ausgezeichnete,

an. Das immer stärker werdende
Interesse am Thema Leichtbau im
NEWS
Die JEC Messe in Paris vom 29. - 31. März 2012 hat
auch in diesem Jahr wieder ihren führenden Status als
Fachmesse rund um das Thema Verbundwerkstoffe unter
Beweis gestellt.
Automobilbereich spiegelte sich
auf der Messe wieder und auch die
POLYTEC COMPOSITES hat sich
mit speziellen Exponaten zu diesem
Thema auf der diesjährigen
JEC präsentiert. Am Anwendungsbeispiel
eines Heckdeckels wurden
die Gewichtseinsparungen anhand
verschiedener Materialien gezeigt.
Vom Heckdeckel gefertigt in SMC
über low density SMC (LD-SMC) bis
hin zur Fertigung der Innenschale
in Carbon-SMC und Aussenschale
in LD-SMC wurde für die Interessenten
mit einem „Griff“ klar,
welche Gewichtsreduzierungen
durch den Einsatz der jeweiligen
Werkstoffe erreicht werden können.
Neben den Highlights der
POLYTEC COMPOSITES zeigte die
POLYTEC EMC auf dem Gemeinschaftsstand
eine ihrer Kompaktanlagen
der Type DG 108 zur Verarbeitung
von Epoxy Harzen zur
Herstellung von Composite-Teilen.
Ein gelungener Auftritt der beiden
Segmente welcher den Messebesuchern
einen ersten Einblick in
das umfangreiche Produktportfolio
und die Kompetenzen der
POLYTEC GROUP gab.

Business development of
the Group
Based on the Group’s continued
operations adjusted for the main
part of the divestment of the Interior
Systems business as well
as for other effects1), total sales
of the POLYTEC GROUP increased
by 14.7 % to EUR 484.2 million in
2011 compared to 2010. Previous
year’s sales adjusted for these
effects amounted to EUR 422.1
million. This success is mainly attributable
to the positive development
of the European automotive
industry. The disposal of the Interior
Systems business towards the
end of the first half of 2011 led to
a decline in consolidated Group
sales by 14.6 % or EUR 112.7 million
to EUR 657.4 million. As of
August 31, 2011 POLYTEC Holding
AG acquired PPI Plastic Products
Innovation GmbH & Co KG based
in Ebensee (A) – now renamed
POLYTEC Plastics Ebensee GmbH
(PPE) – instead of expanding capacities
at a German plant. PPI
contributed EUR 5.3 million to
total sales in 2011. Other operating
income declined in 2011 by
roughly EUR 8.6 million compared
to the previous year. Approximately
EUR 8.0 million of this decline
were attributable to the disposal
of the Interior Systems business.
In the year under review, the
POLYTEC WORLD
material ratio, which amounted
to 53.1 % of total sales in 2010,
was reduced by 0.4 percentage
points to 52.7 % despite higher
raw material prices. This positive
effect was due to the divestment
of the material-intensive Interior
Systems business. In 2011, the
personnel ratio increased slightly
by 0.2 percentage points to
27.0 % compared to the previous
year. This increase was mainly driven
by higher capacity utilization
and personnel-intensive production
as a result of the favorable
economic development especially
during the first nine months of
the year under review. In addition
to the decline in other operating
income by roughly EUR 23.2 million
to EUR 90.0 million due to the
disposal of the Interior Systems
business, expenses for leased
staff also decreased by 21.4 % or
EUR 5.7 million.
Group EBITDA increased by 13.0 %
to EUR 61.3 million despite the decline
in consolidated Group sales.
This corresponds to an EBITDA
margin of 9.3 %. The increase in
EBITDA includes a deconsolidation
gain of EUR 7.2 million resulting
from the disposal of the Interior.

The decline in financial expenses
by more than half to EUR -3.3 million
in the year under review was
mainly attributable to a considerable
improvement of financing
conditions over the short and long
term as well as to interest income
deriving from an investment in
the amount of EUR 30 million as

in 2011 amounted to EUR -3.1

ihres Konzernumsatzes
gegenüber dem Vorjahr von
14,7 % auf EUR 484,2 Mio. Der um
diese Effekte bereinigte Umsatz
2010 betrug EUR 422,1 Mio. Basis
dieses Erfolgs war die positive
Entwicklung der europäischen Automobilindustrie.
Die Veräußerung
des Bereichs Interior-Systems zum
Ende des ersten Halbjahres 2011
führte jedoch in der konsolidierten
Gesamtdarstellung des Konzerns
zu einem Rückgang des Konzernumsatzes
um EUR 112,7 Mio.
oder 14,6 % auf EUR 657,4 Mio.
Mit 31. August 2011 übernahm die
POLYTEC Holding AG die PPI Plastic
Products Innovation GmbH
& Co KG in Ebensee (A) – heute-
POLYTEC Plastics Ebensee GmbH
(PPE) – als Alternative zu einer
Kapazitätserweiterung an einem
Standort in Deutschland. Die PPE
trug im Geschäftsjahr 2011 mit
EUR 5,3 Mio. zum Konzernumsatz
bei. Die sonstigen betrieblichen
Erträge gingen 2011 im Vergleich
zum Vorjahr um rund EUR 8,6 Mio.
zurück. Rund EUR 8,0 Mio. dieses
Rückgangs waren auf den Verkauf
des Bereichs Interior-Systems zurückzuführen.
Die Materialquote
konnte im Geschäftsjahr 2011 von
zuvor 53,1 % des Umsatzes trotz
erhöhter Rohstoffpreise um 0,4
Prozentpunkte auf 52,7 % reduziert
werden. Dieser positive Effekt ist
auf die Abgabe des materialintensiven
Bereichs Interior-Systems
zurückzuführen. Die Personalquote
erhöhte sich gegenüber dem
Vorjahr leicht um 0,2 Prozentpunkte
auf 27,0 %. Hauptgrund
dafür war die hohe Auslastung
und die teilweise personalintensive
Produktion auf Basis des guten
Konjunkturverlaufs, insbesondere
während der ersten drei Quartale
des Geschäftsjahres 2011. Neben
dem durch den Abgang des Bereichs
Interior-Systems bedingten
Rückgang in den sonstigen betrieblichen
Aufwendungen um
rund EUR 23,2 Mio. auf EUR 90,0
Mio. kam es auch bei den Leihpersonalkosten
zu einem Rückgang
von 21,4 % oder EUR 5,7 Mio.

The POLYTEC GROUP’s total capital
expenditure remained almost

In the production plant in Lohne,
the leading production site for

were made in a further production
line to meet the high demand for

semifinished mats. The expansion
measures announced in the year
under review to be carried out at

POLYTEC GROUP blieb mit EUR 17,5
Mio. gegenüber dem Vorjahr nahezu
konstant und betraf vor allem
projektbezogene Investitionen für
den Ausbau bzw. die Erweiterung
von Anlagen. Am Standort Lohne,
dem Leitbetrieb im Bereich
Plastics, wurde in eine weitere
Produktionslinie investiert, um
die hohe Nachfrage nach Zylinderkopfhauben
sichern zu können.
Im Bereich Composites wurde am
Standort der POLYTEC Compounds
in Gochsheim eine Anlage für die
Herstellung von Halbzeugmatten
erweitert und modernisiert. Die
im Geschäftsjahr 2011 kommunizierten
Erweiterungsmaßnahmen
an den Standorten Lohne (D) und
Hörsching (A) wurden in der zweiten
Jahreshälfte wie angekündigt
begonnen, führten aber bis Ende
2011 zu keinen nennenswerten
Aufwendungen. Entsprechend

With regard to group results, it
should be noted that the decline
in sales and earnings in the first
quarter of 2012 compared to the
same period of the previous year
is mainly attributable to the disposal
of the Interior-Systems business
at the end of the first half
of 2011. Group sales declined by
38.5 % to EUR 123.5 million in the
first quarter of 2012. On a comparable
basis, i.e. adjusted for the
effects of the divestment of the
Interior-Systems business – group
sales increased by 3 % year-onyear.
EBITDA for the first quarter
2012 decreased by 19.7 % to EUR
12.2 million. The disposal of the
Interior-Systems site in Zaragoza –
following the closing of the transaction
on January 3, 2012 – led to
a deconsolidation gain of roughly
EUR 0.6 million. Including this deconsolidation
gain, EBITDA margin
amounted to 9.9 % (Q1 2011:
7.5 %). Adjusted for this deconsolidation
gain, EBITDA margin was
9.4 % in the first quarter of 2012.
The decline in financing costs is
mainly attributable to the significant
reduction in bank liabilities
and the short term investment of
cash and cash equivalents. Longterm
interest-bearing account
receivables, which are shown in
the balance sheet, also contributed
to the significant improvement
of financial results. All in
all, the POLYTEC GROUP achieved
a net result of EUR 7.6 million in
the first quarter of 2012. This corresponds
to earnings per share of
EUR 0.33 compared to EUR 0.35 in
the previous year.

Veranlagung von liquiden Mitteln.
An dieser Stelle sei auch auf
die in der Bilanz ausgewiesenen
langfristigen verzinslichen Forderungen
hingewiesen, die ebenfalls
zur signifikanten Verbesserung
des Finanzergebnisses beigetragen
haben. Insgesamt erzielte die
POLYTEC GROUP im ersten Quartal
2012 ein Nettoergebnis von 7,6
Mio. EUR. Dies entspricht einem
Ergebnis je Aktie von 0,33 EUR
nach 0,35 EUR im Vorjahr.

commercial vehicle segment,
sales declined by roughly 16.7 %
to EUR 35.3 million in the period
under review. Customers from the
agricultural sector such as John
Deere continued to register solid
production volumes, whereas the
heavy vehicle segment over 16
tons showed a decline in sales volumes
compared to the previous
year. Furthermore a technology

Nutzfahrzeuge ging der Umsatz
um rund 16,7 % auf 35,3 Mio. EUR
zurück. Hier zeigen zwar die Kunden
aus dem Bereich Landwirtschaft
– allen voran John Deere
– nach wie vor solide Baumengen,
bei den LKW über 16t war jedoch
im Vorjahresvergleich ein Rück-

Der Personalstand der POLYTEC
GROUP reduzierte sich gegenüber
dem Vergleichszeitraum 2011, bedingt
duch die Veräusserung des
Bereiches Interior-Systems zum
Ende des ersten Halbjahres 2011,
um mehr als 2.000 Mitarbeiter.
Der Anstieg der Mitarbeiterzahl in
Österreich beruht auf dem Ewerb
der PPE im zweiten Halbjahr 2011.
Der Anteil der Leiharbeitskräfte
beträgt zum Ende des ersten
Quartals 2012 rund 4,4 %.
