Dear neighbours<br />
School is well and truly out. That statement will<br />
elicit squeals of delight from the kids and possibly<br />
some groans from the adults if, like most parents,<br />
you're wondering how to fill the weeks ahead.<br />
Have no fear. You're in East London and it is fair<br />
to say that there is more than enough to keep<br />
anyone busy here... and much of it is free. You can<br />
go to the beach... without the hassle of travelling<br />
to the seaside... at Beach East at the Olympic Park<br />
(p24). There are drop-in sessions at the Museum<br />
of Childhood where the kids can collaborate with<br />
resident artists (p21). There's free music at the<br />
Victoria Park Bandstand (p20); rap workshops at<br />
Rich Mix (p20) and summer fairs aplenty. There is<br />
also "forest school" at Tower Hamlets Cemetery<br />
Park and the Wild Adventure Club at Woodberry<br />
Wetlands.<br />
But let's not forget the grown-ups. From markets<br />
and festivals to gruesome cemetery walks (p10,<br />
p14), live music, pub quizzes, and rooftop cinema,<br />
you can be sure of a perfect summer here in our<br />
amazing neighbourhood.<br />
