LOVE IN A BOX 2017
Dear Mr Dean,
Please pass on my thanks to everyone concerned with “Love in a Box.”
We completed 213 boxes on Sunday, and this was followed by another
8 boxes brought to the church by members of Mencap Sutton. It was a
real delight to see the students of John Fisher come to help pack the boxes
on a Sunday on their half term. Please do pass on my thanks to them
all. The contributions from John Fisher parents, staff and students mean
that we can continue to support those less fortunate than ourselves at
Christmas.
The boxes are due to be collected sometime today though I don’t know
their final destination. They will definitely be with the children by Christmas.
Thanks again for all the hard work for these children.
Yours sincerely,
Pam Oubridge.
We will be holding our annual ‘Speed Careers’ event on Thursday 16th November from 1.00pm-
3.30pm. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the variety of careers and opportunities
available to our students when they leave the School. If you can join us from 1.00pm, lunch will
be provided for all guests.
The event is split into two parts:
Lunch will be served from 1.00pm-1.30pm for all guests.
Part 1: 1.45pm-2.15pm
We are looking for guests to offer a short talk on their career, experience and journey to a group
of students who will select one talk to attend. We would love to offer a wide range of talks so that
students can pick one that is really relevant to what they are looking to undertake. This will be in
a classroom and a PC/Projector would be available. Due to space, we anticipate only being able to
accommodate 10 talks at once so please do let us know if you would be willing to do this.
Part 2: 2.15pm-3.15pm
The entire year group will join you in the sports hall for a speed dating style event. Guests will
be spread around the hall at a small table, with small groups of students spending a few minutes
hearing what you do ad how you got there. You will have room for pop up banners, laptops
(please make sure these are charged) and other props We will spread out the various industries
and sectors so that students do not hear from the same career more than once. We purposely mix
up the order of the guests and make the students follow a set order so that they talk to people in
all areas rather than just a few. We believe that this helps widen their awareness and makes them
think about careers they may not have considered. The small groups only spend a few minutes
with you before moving on to the next guest. This will continue for around 45 minutes before time
is given to students to walk around the hall and chat to any guests they have missed or would like
more information from.
If you, or your business, can spare some time to help Inspire the next generation
then please email us directly, outlining whether you can participate in Part 1, Part 2
or both.
