Local doctor elected to serve on worldwide,
nonprofit hearing health board
Jonathan L. Wright,
ACA, BC-HIS, the owner
of South Suburban Hearing
Health Centers in Homer
Glen and Burr Ridge, wins
the election for a U.S. seat
on the Executive Council
of the Board for Certification
in Hearing Instrument
Sciences. Jonathan won
the seat out of a field of 26
candidates throughout the
U.S. and Canada.
The National Board for
Certification is an independent,
nonprofit, credentialing
organization
established to promote
continuing competency assurance
of hearing health
professionals and to provide
a standard of excellence
in hearing health
care for the consumer.
Founded in 1981, the National
Board for Certification
in Hearing Instrument
Sciences (NBC-HIS)
was created to establish a
standardized test for measuring
the competency of
hearing health professionals.
It is the only board
certification program in
the hearing healthcare industry
accredited by the
National Commission for
Certifying Agencies.
NBC-HIS has become a
benchmark for excellence
in the hearing health industry,
and it remains the
only organization in the
hearing industry with this
endorsement. NBC-HIS
is dedicated to providing
a standard of excellence
and a strict Code of Ethics
among hearing health
professionals. They have
come a long way from
their beginnings in the U.S.
market to international expansion.
Today, they have
international affiliates in
Ireland, England, Mexico,
Australia, Bahrain, Israel,
Lebanon, the Philippines,
Saudi Arabia, Scotland,
United Arab Emirates and
Canada. NBC-HIS board
certification is the recognized
international competency
standard.
In an age of ever changing
hearing technology,
there is a need for a standard
of excellence. Jonathan
is proud to serve this

Luis J. Redondo, M.D.
Redondo specializes in
joint reconstruction and
sports medicine. He completed
his training at Rush-
Presbyterian St. Luke’s
Medical Center. He was
certified by the American
Board of Orthopedic Surgery
in 1994, and recertified
in 2003 and 2014. He
also received his sub-specialty
board certification
in orthopedic sports medicine
in 2008. He has been
awarded as one of Chicago
and Illinois’ top orthopedic
surgeons by U.S. News &
World Report (2012), as
well as Best Sports Medicine
Surgeon in Chicago
and Suburbs by Castle
Connolly Medical (2011).
Richard D. Lim, M.D.
Lim specializes in spine,
scolioses and orthopedic
surgery. He graduated
from the honors program
in medical education at
Northwestern University
Medical School and completed
his orthopedic residency
at McGaw Medical
Center at Northwestern
University in 1996. He
then pursued a specialized
postgraduate fellowship
training at the Spine Institute
for Special Surgery in
Louisville. Lim is the codirector
of the Bone Joint
Spine Institute Program
and president elect of medical
staff at Christ Medical
Center. He has been
awarded as one of America’s
top orthopedic surgeons
in 2007, 2008, 2009
and 2010, and received
Patients’ Choice Awards
in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011,
2012 and 2013.
George Branovacki, M.D.
Branovacki specializes
in joint reconstruction, revisions
and sports medicine.
He graduated medical
school from Northwestern
University Medical
School and completed his
orthopedic residency at the
University of Illinois at
Chicago. He then pursued
fellowship training in adult
lower extremity at Scripps
Clinic in California. Branovacki
does the most
replacement revisions in
the southern suburbs and
is head of Total Joint Reconstruction
at Advocate
Christ Medical Center. He
has interest in cartilage
preservation, joint replacement
revisions and restoration
surgery. He also
performs surgery using
new advanced technology,
such as an iPod to increase
the accuracy of placing the
knee or hip implant: GPSlike
computer navigation.
James P. Leonard, M.D.
Leonard specializes in
sports medicine, arthroscopy
and shoulder reconstruction.
He graduated
from Northwestern University
Medical School
and completed his orthopedic
surgical residency
at the University of Illinois
at Chicago Medical
Center. He then pursued a
postgraduate fellowship in
sports medicine and shoulder
surgery at Vanderbilt
University, where he
was a team physician for
the school’s athletic department
as well as the
Nashville Predators of the
NHL. He is now the team
physician for Sandburg
High School and Marist
High School, and offers
evening and weekend appointments.
Sung-Lana-Kim, M.D.
Kim specializes in physical
medicine and rehabilitation,
electro diagnostic
medicine and pain management.
She received her undergraduate
and medical education
at the University of
Chicago. She completed her
residency training in physical
medicine and rehabilitation
at the Rehabilitation
Institute of Chicago and the
McGaw Medical Center
at Northwestern University.
Kim is board-certified
by the American Board
of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, and holds
a sub-certification in pain
management. She performs
EMGs, which can be done
when experiencing numbness,
tingling, weakness
and muscle cramping in
the arms or legs, in order to
evaluate for an injury to a
nerve or muscle that can occur
with various conditions.
Dr. David Garras
Garras emphasizes on
total ankle replacement,
work and sports injuries,
ligament and tendon
repairs/reconstruction,
minimally invasive and arthroscopic
techniques, deformity
correction and reconstructive
surgery, foot
and ankle fracture care. He
also has an acute interest
in Achilles ruptures, sports
injuries, and foot and ankle
arthritis.
After receiving his bachelor’s
degree from the University
of California, where
he graduated summa cum
laude at the top of his class,
Garras went on to complete
his medical degree from
Duke University School of
Medicine. He completed his
residency at Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital,
Rothman Institute. He then
completed his fellowship at
OrthoCarolina in Charlotte.
