Special guests put on workshops, and you participate <strong>in</strong> the activities<br />

you enjoy best. Youth must have a Participant Information Form<br />

filled out by a parent/guardian <strong>in</strong> order to attend. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> Reg<strong>in</strong>a<br />

works <strong>in</strong> partnership with the Argyle Park/Englewood, North East<br />

and Rosemont/Mount Royal Community Associations to provide this<br />

Warriors <strong>of</strong> the Water<br />

Aborig<strong>in</strong>al Swim Program<br />

Warriors <strong>of</strong> the Water provides Aborig<strong>in</strong>al youth ages 11+ the<br />

opportunity to learn how to swim. The tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, skills and knowledge<br />

to become a certified lifeguard are provided. Participants are divided<br />

<strong>in</strong>to junior and senior groups, depend<strong>in</strong>g on their ability. In this<br />

program, participants ga<strong>in</strong> leadership and teamwork skills, learn<br />

about responsibility, stay<strong>in</strong>g active, and also the importance <strong>of</strong> water<br />

safety. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> Reg<strong>in</strong>a works <strong>in</strong> partnership with Reg<strong>in</strong>a Treaty<br />

ehrlo Basketball League<br />

The Ehrlo Basketball League is a free, 6 week, recreational basketball<br />

league that runs from early May to mid June. The league has two<br />

age divisions: junior (ages 8-12) and senior (ages 13-18). Practices<br />

and games are comb<strong>in</strong>ed and are one night each week for one hour<br />

for each age division. Registration beg<strong>in</strong>s mid April. Locations to be<br />

ehrlo outdoor Hockey League<br />

A free community-based, drop-<strong>in</strong> outdoor hockey league for boys<br />

and girls ages 8-17. Seven r<strong>in</strong>ks are located throughout the <strong>in</strong>ner-city<br />

and surround<strong>in</strong>g area. Registered players are fitted for and receive<br />

hockey equipment to use for the year; due back at the end <strong>of</strong> the<br />

season. This is a 14 week program and the season beg<strong>in</strong>s with<br />

dress<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> October-December and runs through to March 2013. For<br />

North Central Family Centre <strong>of</strong>fers children and families a place to<br />

sew<strong>in</strong>g, box<strong>in</strong>g, and computer usage), family art and craft program,<br />

music lessons, dance classes, cultural programs and senior’s<br />

Youth aged 11-19 years are welcome to participate <strong>in</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong><br />

programs. In addition to recreational programs, Ra<strong>in</strong>bow Youth <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

developmental programs such as Skills for Adolescence and Anger<br />

Management, a Young Parent program, Road to Employment, Kids<br />

First, and other programs aimed at help<strong>in</strong>g young people. The Road<br />

to Employment, Kids First and the Young Parent programs are open<br />

Street culture Project <strong>in</strong>c.<br />

Street Culture Project is a youth-focused organization that provides<br />

skill-build<strong>in</strong>g, employment and social development opportunities for<br />

youth ages 14 - 29 through the use <strong>of</strong> art, recreation, cultural <strong>in</strong>itiatives<br />

and mentorship. Street Culture operates three peer homes, and an<br />
