First of all, let
me thank all of the
members who chose
to be committee
chairman for the
up coming year.

everyone will work
hard to make each event a success.
May is going to be a busy month for
the Lodge. Steve Holzerland has stepped
up as chairman for the Elks in helping with
the Snickers Soccer Cup Tournament.
(this is not the Elks soccer shoot, that
will be later in the year.) He is looking for
volunteers to help with parking and other
duties that arise. This is a two day event
that will be held the weekend of May 12
and 13. The Sheridan County Soccer
Assocation will donate $1,500.00 to the
Sheridan Elks for our help. Thank you
Steve, and Dustin Shaw.
Another May event is the bike swap
held by the Downtown Association. They
will be having a bike swap at the Back
Country Bike shop on Main Street on May
17, from 9:30 to 5:00 pm. All proceeds
from this event will go into an account at
Back Country Bikes for parts and supplies
for the Elks Bike give away program.
Thank you John Smith and Stacie Coe.
Remember all the things that happen
at the Lodge weekly. Bingo on Thursday
nights at 6:30 pm. Taco Tuesday from
5:30 to 7:00 pm. Come in and enjoy your
Lodge.

lodge By-laws and House Rules
The Lodge is in the process of revising the by-laws and house rules. Published below
are the revisions of the house rules as approved by the governing board. The house
rules and by-laws were voted on at the Lodge meeting on April 9th and then submitted
to the Grand Lodge Committee on Judiciary for approval. No revisions are proposed
concerning the by-laws excepting those made by Grand Lodge.
1. All guest of the Lodge must be signed in and must be accompanied by an Elks
member in good standing.
2. All Elks members are responsible for the conduct and actions of their guest.
3. Excessive drinking shall not be tolerated.
4. Rude, boisterous or ungentlemanly conduct, or the use of profane language, is
strictly prohibited in the Lodge at any time.
5. No solicitation of any kind from members in the Lodge shall be permitted at any
time: or shall wares of any kind, including newspapers and tickets, be offered
for sale or raffle, without the permission of the Governing Board.
6. The privileges of the Elks Lodge shall be extended to guests when accompanied
by a member in good standing.
7. No minor, that is a person under the age of 21 years, shall be permitted to abide
or remain in the bar at any time, except as may be designated by the Exalted
Ruler for special functions.
8. There shall be no music, radio or other activities in the club while Lodge is in
session.
9. Visiting Elks shall exhibit their membership card, and if found in good standing,
shall register their names in the Lodge register and thereafter be entitled to the
courtesies of the Lodge.
10. No long distance calls shall be charged to the Lodge telephone.
11. Only an Elk member in good standing may enter the Lodge meeting or Board
Room and Vote on Lodge business.
An obligation rests on each member of the Lodge to familiarize themselves with
these rules and to accord a ready and courteous obedience to all their provisions.

We now have an event calendar on our website. The
information in the Bugle has to be turned in early to meet
the printing deadline while some events are not scheduled
until after that date. The advantage of using the Web
Calendar is that it is updated whenever an event changes
or a new event is added. Simply go to the website: www.
sheridanelks.org and click on the calendar on the left side
of the page. On the calendar you can request an event
to be added. Under Calendar of Events you can look at
a previous, current or future calendars. On an event that
is listed, you can click on the event and get additional
information. For example, click on bingo and you will see
times, costs and other information. You need to check this
out frequently as it is continually changing.

DOES' Doings...
We very much need the officers and
some extra ladies to come to the meetings,
as practice is most important in ritual for the
upcoming State Meeting. The more we have
in attendance, the easier the practice will be.
President Anna and Effie Rexroat are each
doing well after each having back surgery
and Laura Robertson is getting along much
better after her hip surgery. I am sorry if I
have missed other ladies needing a get well
cheer – get better. If Laura continues on her
path to recovery, she plans to pro-tem in the
Outer Guard position at State Meeting. A
very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to
Vinnie Fox who turned 100 on April 14th.
Committee planning for the State Meeting
keeps chugging along. We need a lady to step
up and chair the committee that will plan the
meals for the State Meeting. We also need a
chair and several ladies to go about Sheridan
and get ads and/or items for the ditty bags. If
someone calls you to see if you will help out
on a committee, please just say yes. Any and
all help will be greatly appreciated.
The Drove has decided to not do the
Bazaar and Bake sale in November. Instead,
it will be a “No Bake Bake Sale”. Drove
members will be sent instructions on what
to do, along with a self addressed stamped
envelope for their convenience. We hope all
will participate in this.

From the Secretary...
The dues have been coming in very well
but we still have quite a few members that have
not paid yet this year, so please try to get those
dues paid as quickly as possible. A second
notice will be coming out and the fewer that
we have to send the less cost to the Lodge in
postage. Work has started at the cemetery. With
the nice weather and the water being turned on
early, cleanup is ahead of schedule. It would be
appreciated if no decorations are placed until
close to Memorial Day, as it makes the work
much easier. Please keep in mind not to use
any nails, wire or rocks in placing decorations
other than those that come with the wreaths
and flowers, as they are dangerous to the
mowers. If you have any questions contact the
Elks office at 674-7297.

Rodriguez Benefit
There will be a benefit for Ronnie Rodriguez,
son of Victor Rodriguez, at the Elks on
Saturday, May 12, 2012. It will include a Texas
Style Bar-B-Que 4 PM - 7 PM, $12.00 per
plate, Kids 5-12, $8.00. Auction and music to
follow. Ronnie fell out of a three story building
and is in Harbor View Medical Center in
Seattle, WA. He has had five surgeries on his
feet, knees and head. He requires additional
surgeries and physical therapy. For details and
