The O.C, P.W.D. reports in No. 55/93 of 7th June, 1893 :—
Korno-Kophinou Road.—The remaining five miles, required to complete the
connection, was finished aud the road from Nicosia J)o Limassol a distance of 54
miles was therefore opened to traffic. Certain torrents required to be bridged to
make the road available at all times.
Kat j-Lefkara Road.—^A branch of 1J miles was made to connect this village
with the Kophinou-Lefkara Road.
Khirokhitia-Ora Road,—formation for 2^ miles completed leaving 9| miles
to be done. This and the foregoing Road were constructed under the Limassol
Roads Law, 1885,
Ktima-Polis Road.—Extended for 3| miles making a total length open to
traffic of 18 miles, now within 1 mile of Simou.
Kelokethara Nahieh Road, was extended for about 2i miles making a total
length of 14^ miles open, now within ^ mile of the village of Kelokethara.
The summary shows 24^ miles of roadway formed and 22 miles, including
portions of roads previously opened, metalled, but this does not imply that the
whole 24^ miles were new roads as certain lengths of previously opened roads
were also reformed as well as metalled.
The roads maintained were the same as those of the previous year with the
addition of the Kophinou-Lefkara and the Paphos District Roads, altogether 330
miles are said to have been maintained but I find no reference to the Famagusta-
Tricomo Road which although it was shown to be a Carriage Road in 1887 does
not appear to have received much, if any, attention in respect of maintenance
since that year.
The satae document records the receipt of a portion of the iron work for the
Pyroi bridge, also the construction of a timber bridge over the Margi or Sisklipou
river on the Nicosia-Limassol Road and of the Kief tis bridge, Messaoria.
