The Actuarial Profession

The Actuarial Profession is governed by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. Members of the

Profession provide commercial, financial and technical advice underpinning the operation of insurance

companies, pension funds and other financial institutions, helping them and the public at large to make

financial sense of the future. The expertise of actuaries is widely recognised by government, businesses

and other professionals reflecting the major role that it plays in finance related legislation.

A rigorous examination system is supported by a programme of continuing professional development

(CPD) and a professional code of conduct supports high standards, reflecting the significant role of the

Profession in society.
