At the heart of the cars’ exhilarating drive ability is Opel’s benchmark-setting chassis 

engineering, optimised by its Interactive Driving System that synchronises steering, 

suspension and braking. IDS is designed to provide agile yet neutral cornering, high 

levels of lateral acceleration, precise steering response, reduced stopping distances 

and improved stability during emergency manœuvres and ensures that virtually every 

driving situation is handled with unerring and uncommon ability. 

IDS includes the following components: 

• Steering. Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) senses vehicle speed, steering 

speed and angle to provide instant assistance matched to prevailing driving 

situations: little or none at higher speeds, precisely increased assistance at lower 

speeds for emergency steering situations and parking manœuvres. 

• Suspension. 4-link independent rear suspension provides enhanced stability and 

handling, particularly through bends. 

• Braking. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electronic 

Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist interact to help the driver maintain 

control – especially on slippery surfaces and during emergency manœuvring. 

• ESP ®Plus . The advanced Electronic Stability Program monitors wheel speed and provides 

controlled intervention on up to three of the wheels. Its yaw sensor detects excess 

vehicle movement caused by sudden changes of direction. Traction Control Plus (TC Plus ) 

is included, which detects im minent wheel spin and prevents it by reducing engine 

power and brake intervention. 

SportSwitch. Available with IDS Plus 

and all 6-cylinder engines, it adds extra 

sporting zest by activating the Sport 

mode. This immediately adds extra 

responsiveness and tauter handling. 

The result is almost like having two cars 

in one. 

When complemented by Opel’s Continuous Damping Control (CDC), the system is 

upgraded to IDS Plus with SportSwitch for the optimum in driving control. 

IDS Plus provides constant interaction between the car’s electronic chassis sub systems 

and with Continuous Damping Control (CDC), taking ride and handling to even higher 

levels: 

• Multi-sourced input from strategically sited sensors independently measure wheel 

and body dynamics and constantly modify the damping rates of all four wheels. 

• The information also electronically coordinates all major chassis components and 

driver assistance features. 

• IDS Plus can be set by the driver to either of two modes. In Comfort mode, the dampers 

are set to provide optimum ride comfort, but in situations where safe handling is 

a priority (such as in tight bends or under hard braking) they are automatically 

adjusted to Sport mode by the system’s computerised control. 

In addition, the SportSwitch provides an extra performance edge: 

• If a permanently firm ride is preferred, on winding roads for example, the driver 

can select Sport mode. This simultaneously tunes both the electronic throttle 

control for increased response and EHPS for more direct road feel. In combination 

with automatic transmission, it also programmes the shifts to add an extra 

performance edge. 

Networked control systems. By networking 

all the driver assistance functions 

with IDS and IDS Plus , the Vectra and 

Signum both offer exceptional control 

and safety. At the same time it makes 

driving even more relaxed and pleasant.

Opel’s ECOTEC ® engines are designed to be both responsive and responsible – 

combining high torque for efficiency and effortless power with improved fuel economy 

and reduced emission levels. The diesel engines feature Opel’s state-of-the-art 

particle filter (DPF): unlike conventional systems this innovative, maintenance-free filter 

requires no additives. 

1.9 CDTI ECOTEC ® . The 1.9 CDTI is available in three versions: 110 kW (150 hp), 88 kW 

(120 hp) and 74 kW (100 hp). They incorporate the efficiency of common rail technology 

combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and their combination of power, 

performance and fuel economy is remarkable. (74 kW (100 hp), availability restrictions 

may apply.) 

3.0 V6 CDTI ECOTEC ® .The 3.0 V6 CDTI is an all-aluminium engine and provides a powerful 

alternative to the 2.8 V6 Turbo petrol. Its variable turbine geometry develops 400 Nm 

of torque and 135 kW (184 hp) at 4,000 rpm. The 3.0 V6 CDTI is available with 6-speed 

automatic with ActiveSelect ® or 6-speed manual transmission. 

1.6 TWINPORT ECOTEC ® . The 1.6 TWINPORT with 77 kW (105 hp) makes the Vectra 

one of the most economical vehicles of its class. It is only available for Vectra Essentia. 

(Availability restrictions may apply.) 

1.8 ECOTEC ® . The 103 kW (140 hp) 1.8 engine has a variable in-take manifold for 

balanced torque, good performance and economy. With the optional Easytronic ® 

transmission our customers can further elevate the pleasure of easy driving. 

2.2 DIRECT ECOTEC ® . The 2.2 DIRECT is a direct injection petrol engine combining 114 kW 

(155 hp) with high torque (220 Nm) and superior fuel economy. It is available with 

6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic with ActiveSelect ® .

All figures quoted relate to the EU base model with standard equipment. The fuel consumption calculation based on guideline 1999/100/EC takes into consideration vehicle weight when empty as specified by the guideline. Additional equipment

2.0 Turbo ECOTEC ® . The 2.0 Turbo engine with 129 kW (175 hp) is characterised by high 

performance and torque with excellent acoustics and consumption. 

2.8 V6 Turbo ECOTEC ® . The 2.8 V6 Turbo provides instant throttle response for superior 

overtaking, with 184 kW (250 hp) and 350 Nm of torque. This all-aluminium engine is 

characterised by low weight and high specific output. It is available with 6-speed manual 

transmission as standard or with 6-speed automatic transmission. 

6-speed automatic transmission. Opel’s advanced 6-speed automatic offers a choice 

of sports or relaxed driving style. The ActiveSelect ® function allows for manual gear 

selection, a winter programme is also available.

AFL Curve Light. By reacting to your 

speed and steering input the Adaptive 

Forward Lighting swivels the headlight 

beams to make night driving safer by 

providing extra curve illumination. 

Tyre pressure monitor. Safety can 

be further enhanced by an electronic 

display incorporating constant tyre 

pressure monitor function. The standard 

board computer provides ice and fluid 

level alerts for safe drive. 

AFL Cornering Light. On approaches 

to intersections, an additional reflector 

within the headlamp reacts to vehicle 

speed, steering wheel position and indicator 

activation. The reflector illuminates 

a path. 

Restraint systems. Full-size front airbags, 

front side airbags and front and 

rear curtain airbags. Front seat-belt pretensioners 

and force limiters and front 

seat active head restraints are also 

standard. 

Complementing IDS, Vectra and Signum systematically integrate a wide range of additional 

active and passive safety features via the SAFETEC ® system. 

A prime example is Opel’s bi-Xenon Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL), a significant 

advance in safety and control during night and bad weather driving. Its xenon system 

combines the following components and benefits: 

• Bi-Xenon Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL). The headlamp beam illuminates curves 

at an angle of up to +/– 15º according to vehicle speed and steering angle. Road 

illumination is improved by up to 90 % versus fixed headlamps, ensuring greatly 

enhanced visibility through curves and sharp bends. 

• AFL main beam. Xenon headlamps project an extremely powerful light on main 

beam. With AFL, both low and high beam are directed through a single lens and the 

main beam automatically adjusts to the speed of the car, projecting longer light 

travel at higher speeds. 

Further safety components are: 

• Adaptive Brake Light. At speeds of more than 30 km/h, under ABS intervention the 

illuminated brake lights blink 5 times per second to provide increased warning to 

drivers of following vehicles. 

• Pedal Release System (PRS). Opel’s patented system is designed to decouple the 

clutch and brake pedals under the force of a front impact, reducing the risk of foot 

and leg injuries.

Steering wheel with remote audio 

controls. For increased convenience and 

safety, the full range of infotainment and 

communications can be controlled without 

taking the hands from the wheel or 

the eyes from the road. 

Front seat adjustment. A range of 

front seat options includes height and 

lumbar adjustment. Optional power front 

seats also offer the added comfort and 

convenience of memory. 

Centre armrest. The wide centre 

armrest between the front seats has 

built-in fore/aft adjustment and incorporates 

a wide stowage places. 

Multi-contour driver’s seat. Built to 

the highest ergonomic and orthopaedic 

principles, this seat features heating, 

ventilation and 8-way power adjustment 

with memory for perfect driving comfort 

and support. 


Power-operated mirrors. The door 

mirrors are heated and power operated 

for improved safety and convenience – 

the optional fold-in feature prevents mirrors 

being damaged when not in use. 

Flap key. The flap key controls the remote 

door locking and the power windows. 

It folds away neatly into its holder 

to prevent wearing of purse or pocket 

linings. 

Electrochromatic rear-view mirror. 

The rear-view and driver’s door mirrors 

automatically adjust to filter out glare 

from the headlamps of following 

vehicles. 

Board computer. Provides constant 

graphic data including fuel consumption, 

check control information, distance 

to empty and average speed. 

Front and Rear park pilot. The Park 

pilot actively promotes safer parking: its 

ultrasonic sensors are integrated into 

the front and rear bumpers and send an 

audible warning alarm to the driver. 

Cruise control. The cruise control 

makes for more relaxing long journey 

and motorway driving. It improves fuel 

efficiency and reduces the risk of unintentional 

speeding. 

Adjustable steering wheel column. 

The power steering wheel column is 

reach- and rake-adjustable for comfortable 

reach. 

Automatic Lighting Control (ALC). 

During daytime driving, special sensors 

enable the car to adapt to light levels of 

the road ahead and will automatically 

activate dipped beam if necessary.

CD30 Stereo CD radio with Board Info Display. Contains 6 speakers, preselection for 

4x6 stations and 4x20W output. 

CD30 MP3 Stereo CD radio with Board Info Display. Features MP3/CD playback, 

providing up to 10 hours of play time per CD and 7 speakers: This unit comes with an 

additional dome speaker, preselection for 4x6 stations and 4x20W output. With auxiliary 

input (aux-in) to connect all mobile devices with a headphone output, e.g. MP3 player 

and iPod ® . 

CD40 Opera CD changer radio with Colour Info Display. Contains a 6 CD changer and 

comes with 9 premium quality speakers, preselection for 4x9 stations and 4x20W 

output. Can play back MP3. Steering wheel control and Colour Info Display are standard. 

CD70 Navi with Colour Info Display. A twin CD drive; one for the navigation CD the 

other for audio CD and MP3 playback. The double tuner concept provides optimum 

Traffic Message Channel (TMC) reception and therefore provides efficient dynamic 

navigation. Available with 9 speakers, preselection for 4x10 stations, 4x20W output 

and aux-in. 

DVD 90 Navi with Colour Info Display. A navigation drive with DVD and a separate 

CD player including MP3 playback functionality. The navigation map is supplied on 

DVD and includes a comprehensive travel guide of more than 20 European countries. 

Dynamic navigation is possible by building the displayed TMC messages into the route 

planner. It has 9 speakers, preselection for 4x10 stations, 4x20W output and aux-in. 

Twin Audio ® . Earhook-style stereo 

headphones allow rear seat passengers 

access to the vehicle’s audio system 

whilst listening to a different radio or CD 

programme to that selected by front 

seat occupants. 

Colour Info Display (CID). An extra 

large, advanced, high resolution, stateof-the-art 

colour display is standard 

with DVD 90 Navi system, CD70 Navi and 

CD40 Opera. 

Mobile Phone Portal. Vectra and 

Signum can be pre-equipped for most 

mobile phones, including hands-free 

operation. A universal console with phonespecific 

adapter holds the phone and, 

from CD 30 upwards, it can be operated 

via the infotainment system steering 

wheel controls. Bluetooth and voice 

control are standard. The system is 

designed to adapt to the next generation 

mobile phones. 

Graphic Info Display (GID). A high 

resolution, large format monochrome 

display, located at the top of the middle 

console. Standard with Electronic Climate 

Control, Tyre Pressure Monitor or Mobile 

Phone Portal if coupled with CD30 or 

CD30 MP3 radios. 


Navigation. Opel’s satellite navigation 

systems have been widely acclaimed 

for their ease of use and comprehensive 

levels of information. CD- or DVD-ROMdriven 

systems feature a split-screen 

facility – half the screen displays the 

chosen route as a map, the other portion 

provides up-to-date information on 

road junctions, etc. The DVD-ROM is 

updated at regular intervals and includes 

maps of more than 20 European countries. 

For the CD-ROM system the same 

information is held on multiple CDs. 

Certified according to the BluetoothTM standard 

(Handsfree Profile 1.5) and compatible with a multitude 

of BluetoothTM capable cell phones. Due to a 

variety of available cell phones, however, the compatibility 

with all models cannot be ensured. A current

Comfort and Convenience 

Automatic Air Conditioning (AAC). 

This single-zone unit operates through a 

system patented by Opel that pre-calculates 

the car’s interior temperatures to 

ensure constant and comfortable conditions 

are maintained. The climate system 

incorporates a sun sensor and two temperature 

sensors. The fan is controlled 

automatically via the system processor 

in accordance with the cooling power required 

and temperature setting and air 

distribution are manually controlled. 

Electronic Climate Control (ECC). The 

Electronic Climate Control is individually 

adjustable for each of the front seat 

occupants and incorporates a sun load 

sensor and glove box cooling. ECC also 

features an air quality sensor: when exterior 

air quality drops below a predetermined 

level, the system automatically 

switches to air recirculation to prevent 

fumes entering the vehicle and gradually 

returns to “normal” as the air improves. 

ECC comes with a Graphic Info Display 

that shows its operational status. 

Quickheat (not shown). Quickheat is an 

electrically controlled auxiliary heating 

system that ensures fast warming of the 

passenger compartment independently 

of the car’s engine temperature. 

Power sunroof. The power-operated 

slide/tilt sunroof has a multi-position 

pre-select facility. An anti-pinch function 

is automatically activated when the sunroof 

is closing. 

Air conditioning (not shown). Air conditioning 

incorporates a variable climatic 

compressor that monitors and regulates 

the system’s operating efficiency and 

improves fuel efficiency. 

Rain sensor. In the automatic mode, 

the speed of the windscreen wipers is 

regulated by the amount of rain. The 

sensitivity of the sensors can be adjusted 

to individual needs. 

Effective sun protection. To reduce 

the amount of direct sunlight entering 

the cabin, the Solar Reflect ® windscreen 

uses extremely thin sheets of metal inserted 

between the glass layers: it can 

reduce the effect of direct sunlight on 

the dashboard by up to 15 %. In addition, 

the rear side windows and rear window 

in the Vectra Caravan can be fitted 

with darkened Solar Protect ® glass to 

protect rear passengers from excess 

sunlight. 


Heated front seats. Heated front 

seats have five settings regulated by individual 

controls on the centre console. 

Rear centre armrest. Rear centre 

armrest with integrated stowage and 

load-through facility for longer items. 

Dumplatch front passenger seat. The 

optional dumplatch system allows the 

front passenger seat back to fold forward 

to accommodate extra-long items. 

Side window blinds. For protection 

against direct sunlight, rear side window 

blinds provide the perfect answer without 

significant loss of visibility.

Organiser Pack. (Standard for Vectra 

Caravan.) A set of nets and hooks that 

stow, divide, retain and protect items of 

cargo (contents: 1 large 3-dimensional 

net, 1 side net and 4 fixing hooks). 

Integrated roof console. This extra 

stowage space for items like spectacles, 

cameras, etc. is both effective and 

stylish. 

FlexSpace ® . With FlexSpace ® , Opel 

designers have elevated the status of 

rear passengers to levels normally found 

only in expensive luxury cars. The rear 

compartment features two outer single 

bucket seats with cushion support, seat 

back and travel adjust, 4-way headrests 

and legroom that varies from long to 

vast. Between them is a third seat with 

its own headrests and 3-point safety belt 

hidden by a roll cover in the roof. When 

the third seat is not required, it can be 

turned into a wide centre armrest and 

centre console incorporating fold-out 

cup holders. 


Whatever car you choose, it has been designed to make maximum use of outstanding 

spaciousness. Vectra Caravan’s vast 2,046 mm load length and 1,850 l max. volume 

swallow virtually anything you’ll need to carry. Even the front passenger seat back 

folds forward to extend your load carrying options, whilst its versatility can be enhanced 

by a range of ingenious and highly practical features. 

FlexOrganizer ® . Whatever you need to carry, large or small, robust or fragile, 

FlexOrganizer ® lets you “design” the Caravan’s load area exactly the way you want. 

Based on rails built-in to the load area sidewalls, this innovative system utilises a 

range of purpose-designed components to create a wide variety of individual compartments 

ideal for both leisure and business use. There are also two special feature 

packs, the contents of which are also available as individual items. 

Travel Pack. Divider tubes split the load area into convenient-size sections to keep 

large items in place, whilst a flexible wall-to-wall divider prevents smaller pieces being 

thrown around (contents: 1 divider wall, 1 divider tube and 2 fixing hooks). 

Flex Pack. A versatile combination of accessories that can be attached to the standard 

sidewall rails. It consists of a collapsible waterproof box and a multi-functional 

bag that can be divided into a sporty backpack and a car-mounted organiser bag, as 

required. There are also two straps and four hooks for fixing other items such as suitcases 

to the rails. 

Optimised luggage space. 40/20/40 

folding rear seats allow maximum flexibility 

and load-through capability. Also 

Signum’s sliding rear seat increases boot 

capacity from 455 to 550 l whenever 

needed. 

Inside Signum. Innovative design meets individual comfort. Signum provides a level 

of comfort perfectly matched to the qualities of its styling and driveability. From a 

choice of three climate control systems to fully supportive seats, from grouped controls 

to navigation systems, everything is meticulously designed to provide an environment 

that maximises comfort, control and choice with benchmark-setting ergonomic 

qualities. 

In the driver’s seat. Both Vectra and Signum provide an outstanding range of features 

that make your travel or day-to-day driving a pleasure. From the multi-contour seat 

for exceptional comfort to the centre armrest for useful stowage, from the front seats 

with memory function for storing your preferred seating position to the cruise control 

for a relaxed journey or just little things such as the flap key that easily fits in your 

pocket and controls the remote door locking, power windows and power roof. 

Power-operated tailgate. Designed to provide maximum access to the load area, 

the Caravan’s tailgate is remotely activated by the ignition key, enabling hands-free
